DIS-functional Wonder Peeps Part III revisited

LOL, Annie. Yeah, a hussie! :lmao:

I don't know about Palm Desert, but if you are looking for DL, let me know. I'll hook you up! :thumbsup2

:lmao: I must be smokin' sumthin'!! HaHa! We can use our DVC points out there too...but they're kinda steep...spring break in a std. view at Paradise Pier runs 25 pts per night Sun-Thur and 40 pts for the weekend....so I figured up 3 n at PP Sun-Wed would be 75. Then Palm Desert has a rather fruity chart...best I can figure it would be another 96 pts to go there Wed-Fri. So it would eat 171 pts for 6 nights. With the way the point charts run it would only be 114 points for 5 n Sun-Thur at P.D. The chart for that is weird. Sun & Thur are 1 rate, M-Wed another then Fri & Sat another rate.:confused3 Oh well...I'm just dreaming 'cuz I want to plan something SO bad. But IF we ever seriously think about heading out that way I'll definitely have ya check on DL for me....but that's a big IF!:goodvibes

Can't wait for my parents to decide what they want to do so I know what's going on. I gave them another option the other day... I offered instead of them coming to WDW with us in August that we could try to just get them a studio at HHI for 5 or 6 n in Sept. Just let them go alone & do their own thing for their anniv. That way they wouldn't have to worry about coming up with $ for park tickets etc. So. We'll see. They have until the 16th to decide what they want to do. I talked to MIL the other night about it too. She is worried she may lose her job soon too. The doctor she works for is talking about closing the office where she works. AND BIL is now Iraq again... AND step-bro will be starting college next Aug and she doesn't know when or where.... I have dis-owned my brother. So the beeg plan of a grand get-together has really gone to pot.

i had pizza last night!!

Cheri - now you never answer my texts..I send to phone and other..I gonna take your extra special friend certificate away!!

Tough day here in Florida...78..breezy..45% humidity!!
dqiumx.jpg
ok, first of all... I haven't gotten a text from you in weeks. Second, STOP GETTIN' SO SKINNY!!!

Annie- Palm Desert (Palm Springs) is NOT the place you want to be at Spring break unless you don't mind hoards of drunken college students. It is muy popular. The pools are jammed and at Spring Break it can be anywhere from 75 - 100 degrees depending on the year. In August it is about 115 degrees. And no I am not kidding. Most of the people who actually live there are retired and the main activity is golf.

THE CHARGERS ARE STINKIN' UP THE PLACE!

Cheri - sorry about your Chargers...I did not watch the game but DH did... He says we are now gonna have to root for Baltimore after this weekends games. AND "Oh POOH" about Palm Desert! That is not what I wanted to hear!! This Intrawest resort did not look like a college hangout to me!! http://www.clubintrawest.com/public/en/where/palmdesert.asp Now THIS ONE in Zihuatanejo, MX looks FABULOUS but it takes a LOT of points! http://www.clubintrawest.com/public/en/where/zihuatanejo.asp A girl can dream can't she?:rotfl2:

Cheri, I watched a Beach Patrol program that took place on the beaches around San Diego day before yesterday. You are right, most of their problems were the roudy drunks.:dance3: Since I know so little about Calif., I didn't realize you had such nice beaches near you. One of the segments they were rescuing a wind surfer or parasailer from the cliffs after an accident. If you have ever watched the program, you may be familiar with the program I saw.

Cheri, I forgot to tell you. My daughter Fran (Tchrmom):teacher: told me yesterday that they will be in San Diego in Feb. for a gymnastic meet. Only she and Kelly will be going. Not sure what date or which gym it will be held in.

Mornin peeps!

Katie - how is your shoulder lately? Mine still hurts SOME but not quite as bad as it WAS...but now my ELBOW is killing me!! I have been in so much pain the past week or so with that. It hurts to turn doorknobs and to raise a glass to drink, to get dressed...so many things KILL me. I have still been trying to self-diagnos online...now I'm thinking either Bursitis or Tendonitis. I have been popping Advil and Aleve and Motrin like candy and using ice packs and Icy Hot. I also have been having a pain in my coccyx (tailbone) OF ALL THINGS!! (probably sitting too much).

I am getting worried about being able to ski in 2 weeks so I finally broke down and called my MIL today. I don't really have my own doctor (I don't go unless I have to) but she works for a GP practice over in Silver Spring (not so close but...). I have doubts that they will actually be able to help me (she said the doctors there now no longer give cortizone shots...the doctor who USED to own the practice did...but he died.). So I am assuming I will just get a referral to go somewhere else (maybe to a Rhumatologist which I need anyway)... I doubt I'll actually be able to get any relief before we go skiing. But I gotta do something. I have had about enough of the ice packs & Advil not working. She didn't have any openings until Thurs. Well, she had one for late this afternoon but it's too far away - I would never make it home in rush hour in time to take DS to swimming tonight. I am going to cross my fingers that maybe she'll get a cancellation opening before then.

So tomorrow night we have a beeg meeting at school for the 6th grade parents. Our school system here has this thing for all 6th graders (it's mandatory) called "outdoor ed". All 6th graders go away to an overnight camp for 2 nights at some point during their 6th grade year. DS has been assigned to March 9-11. I am already in panic mode about it. He's never been away from home like that, which I guess is the point of it...but he's so immature.:scared: I may volunteer to work there during the day or something. I don't know what goes on there (since I'm not FROM Maryland I didn't have it). My own first experience with camp was with band camp in 8th grade...

A Monday funny:

A woman walked into my father's carpet store. She'd just moved out of her parents home and needed something for her new living-room floor. "Do you know how big the room is?" Dad asked. "Yes" she said. "It's 22 flip-flops long by 18 flip-flops wide. And I wear a size 8."

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

That's "girl math" for ya! :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Hey all!

Annie - I agree with Phyllis on Palm Desert. Hot hot hot. Spring Breakers tend to stay more in Palm Springs, having done that myself many moons ago. But Spring Break maybe. August....HOT!! I like that 115 dry heat but lots of peeps don't.

And Disneyland in August...um...Crowded!! But then if you are used to WDW maybe not. Can't you plan a trip off season so us locals are more likely to meet ya there!? Gosh be considerate about your vacations!:rotfl:

OK so Gert has decided she needs salvaged church pews to build into her foyer. Saw it in a picture dontchaknow. I found a great one in England. Wonder how much it would be to ship it out here?? And what Stymie would say about that one!!??:rotfl2: OK so everyone scope out the church pews on Sunday. About 5 -6 feet long. Thanks.:cutie:

Annie...moving joint pain in bad. Could be a bursitis/tendonitis but that does not usually travel unless you are severely overcompensating. I think you need to have that looked at. You aren't in a Lymes Disease area are you? No other Lupus symptoms right? or rheumatoid arthritis?? GO TO THE DOCTOR ANNIE!

anne- yes, I've seen that show a few times. Doesn't paint the nicest picture of America's Finest City (or whatever we are). I live in northern San Deigo county where things are not as wild - mellow, casual, and relax being the operative words around here. We do have some of the best beaches! Nuthin like watching the sun set into the Pacific Ocean.

Annie- around here the 6th graders all go to 6th Grade Camp. Here it is up in the little mountains. they leave Monday morning and come back Friday afternoon. They are not allowed to call home and parents are not allowed to call their kids. Something about "oh, they'll hear your voice and get homesick" blah blah blah. For mosts kids it is the first time they have been away from home for more than overnight without their folks. Dougie hated it - and I did call and insist on talking to him. His teacher came on the phone line and tried to talk me out of talking to my son. Needless to say... you don't mess with a Mama Bear when she wants to talk to the cub!!!!!

Many of the kids loved the "freedom" (meaning just being away from Mom and Dad) and had great things to say about the hikes, campfires and the food. Your DS might have a fabulous time - but not if you let him sense your anxiety - those dang kidlets are soooo good at that. And, isn't working at the camp kinda defeating the purpose of "letting go"? Honestly, I think it is harder on the parents than on the kids.

RJ- didn't Bob and/or Johnnie go to 6th Grade Camp???

TRM- church pews, huh?... We all sit in folding chairs. You want I should send you tow or three to lock together? Brown of course. (can you post a picture of this idea?)

ok, back to the laundry. and I'm still not gettin' text messages:sad2:

So if we all steal church pews next Sunday does that cancel out the good points we get for going to church? :rolleyes1

Annie, my shoulder has been ok, but it was really bad in bed Saturday night. Right now its no real pain, just limited mobility. Like if I try to move a certain way or stretch it one way, I cant because then it hurts. But its not like a constant pain, which is good.

RJ - that was a cute joke!:rotfl2: That is my kind of math. (Maybe that's why I can't find a job!?:confused3 )

Gert...not quite a church pew...but also probably a tad cheaper than shipping a couple from England!

http://www.potterybarn.com/products/p3616/index.cfm?pkey=call%2Dentryway

Although I'm assuming you are actually going for an antique look?

6th grade camp...yep...I'm worried...DS has spent a night here & there at MIL's but has not had any sleepovers even. He's a loner ya know. So I am more worried about the fact that he is very immature and doesn't have many close friends. I know they will ask for volunteers to help out during the day. I am not so worried about the DAYtime as I am the night-time.

Gert...Pains. Gots lots of 'em at this old age. Yes, we do get Lyme Disease here (one of my neighbors got it last year) in this area but I also have arthritis. Have had it for years. It moves around from joint to joint...often in my knees or hands / wrists. I really should have more bloodwork done I suppose as it's been years. I honestly think that I have BOTH Oseto and Sera Negative Rhumatoid.:rotfl: (Here I go self diagnosing again!) THIS pain is different somehow. Usually a good hot shower in the mornings does me wonders...not with this pain. It feels more in the arm tissue / tendons around my elbow & shoulder and does not respond the same to my usual barrage of ibuprofen, aleve & arthritis strength tylenol. It is like a severe bruised feeling or something. That's why I am thinking more along the lines of bursitis or something. I have not researched Lupus. Is that hereditary? I think I do have relatives who have had it......:confused3 Whatever it is it ain't no fun gettin' old!!:rolleyes1

:flower3: Hi kids! Thought I'd drop in and save ya'll from page 2. So when's the next trip ??? Not that I can afford it but at least being laid off I've got the time......now if I could just find the $$$$.:tinker: Pixie Dust is what I need!

Hey peeps!

Hi Luckey - don't know ya but sorry 'bout your layoff....I have been laid off since the end of last FEB here in the DC area!! Gots to hope things turn around soon! I feel your pain about wanting to plan a trip but knowing better! Since we own DVC I am still going to plan a trip to WDW for the middle of August. Good luck to ya!

Just went thru my "ski bin" downstairs and took inventory of our stuff. Have 2 pair of ski gloves for each of us. That's good. DS and DH both have ski pants AND bibs. I have 1 pair of pants that fit (I have a "spare" pair but the legs are really too short to stay down over my boots properly with my long legs - but in a pinch they'll do.) Have PLENTY of handwarmers as I'd found the big box of them at Costco this fall but we only have 2 sets of the "toe warmers" for each of us so we need more of those...DH has 3 pair of ski socks...DS and I two pair each... DS's UnderArmour Cold Gear shirt is borderline fitting him...he can wear it but the sleeves are gettin' short...so gonna run past Modell's or Dick's to see if they have anything on sale...will AT LEAST get more of the toe warmers...they say to try not to wear them when breaking in new boots...but if it's only 20 degrees up there like it often is in January I think we will need them in order to be out there all day.

Hi luckey- sorry to hear about your lay off. Bet you are still keeping busy driving Cassie to all of her skating stuff.

Annie- what is a foot warmer? Is it little packets that you squeeze releasing something scientific that heats up?

BTW: Babs is no longer Babs. I'm thinking Clara? Harriet? Eugenia? Hm... must think on this...

Sumthin' like that. They use some kind of chemical that is air activated. I hear that out west the snow ya'll get is much different 'cuz ya'll don't have the humidity so it's a drier lighter snow. Also apparently this affects how cold it feels too? ANYWAY, back east here, we get this bone chilling cold and heavy, wet snow. Hand & Toe Warmer packets are a MUST HAVE to be outside all day here:

http://www.warmers.com/Category.aspx?Cat=1&pkey=Products%7cGrabber+Warmers&pval=0%7c1&pIds=Showcase%7cCategoryID

I found this next brand in a box of 40 hand warmers at Costco for about $15 this fall. I got us a box, my Dad a box and my brother a box for Xmas 'cuz it was such a steal. We also have these same gloves that are pictured right below them on the website. They have a pocket on the outside of the glove that you can put the warmers in so they heat up the glove! Found those at Costco too for about $15 / pair!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I could only find the Grabber brand toe warmers tho in individual packs. But gotta have some on hand. They use an adhesive to stick to the bottom or top of your toes.
:thumbsup2

BTW: Babs is no longer Babs. I'm thinking Clara? Harriet? Eugenia? Hm... must think on this...

Why is Babs changing her alias?:confused3 Clara reminds me of Clarabelle Cow...How about Cybil?

oh our snow is plenty cold enough. and the dry air makes your skin dry and chapped. Although, any day in the snow (if you want to be there and not if you're stuck in it) is a good day.

I have found the BEST lotion for dry skin! It's made by Neutrogena and it's called "Body Emulsion". It's not in a normal shaped bottle...it's short and square-ish shaped. Found it at Walmart (not Target).:thumbsup2 It's WONDERFUL for winter dryed-out skin!!:thumbsup2 Between that and the Olay Body Quencher shower stuff my skin is doing GREAT this winter!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

OMG! No peeps on here ALL DAY LONG?!:confused3 Hellllooo!!!

Went with neighbor today to a Super Walmart up in Frederick (had never been before). It was spur of the moment so I did not have a list...but WOW! Great place! Can't wait to go back! Good deals!:thumbsup2 Went to Ruby Tuesday for drinks & apps. afterward. Nice way to break up the week! :rotfl: Shopping and drinks!

OK, so who watched AI last nite? Any favs yet? Is it on every nite now or just once a week?
