LOL! I was just saying to Cam "When the heck are you going to eat tonight?". Its either 3:45 or 7:30

Im kind of ticked because we had the tutor booked for this morning (its Sylvan Learning Center) and just Friday they let us know they are on the fall schedule now so no morning classes. He had been booked for 7:30 AM today since June.

The funny part is I really don't overschedule the kids. I know some parents that have their kids in 2 or 3 sports at a time...with more than 2 kids. I don't know how they do it. I try to keep it to a minimum and we still run ragged.

Well, DS made it thru his first day - he came home like chatty cathy! This rotating schedule works a little diff. than I thought. But I guess he'll get it. I won't. But he will!! He has 2 diff. lunch periods depdending on what period day they have. So he has 5 lunches in a row from 11:21 to 11:51 and then 2 days where he will go from 11:55 to 12:25. They have a planner with a LOT of info. in it...like how the schedule runs on an early release day. Sometimes they have a 1/2 day and on THOSE days the abbreviated schedule puts his lunch at either 9:26 or 10:08!! I'm thinkin' he's maybe only gettin' a pop tart for breakfast on those days! It was a good thing I slapped a sandwich together for him today...he said this one kid was in line for 17 minutes out of the 30!! He would never have eaten in 13 minutes! Hopefully, that line will get faster after they get used to it a little...guess I will go ahead & pack lunches for this week then let him try the cafeteria next week. He's always eaten the hot lunch program - but I think now it's more of a cafeteria style rather than saying Lunch A or Lunch B and everything is now A La Carte so they have more choices - I'm sure that is why the line is so slow to start the year.

Gert - been trying to put 2+2 together...thought Stymie was an engineer?! What does Gallo Wine need engineers for exactly? Do they figure out where to plant the grapes?!

Tomorrow after school we go back to the Orthodontist to figure out what our next plan is. Then this new swim program we're going to try is having a BBQ (Famous Daves is bringing some of the stuff and some of it is covered dish). Won't know a sole...but will go check it out I guess - meet his new coaches I suppose.

And Katie I hear you on the overscheduling thing. I have 1 DD who has activities and I don't know how ppl with 3 or more kids do it. Some of my friends are not home until after 8 pm from when they start picking up kids at 2 after school!

Gert - we posted at the same time... DS has 3 quarters of PE & 1 quarter of Health, "Enriched" English, GT Reading, 6th grade band, "Enriched" Social Studies, "Enriched" Science and IM 61 Math [he skips all the "basic" math classes and starts in with Investigations in Mathematics" which says it focuses on Data Patterns & Set Theory (whatever that is), Relations & Finite Operation Systems (Z-tables) , Statistics, Algebra and Geometry.] The "enriched" clases are supposed to be above grade level but not quite on GT level. I think it will be a full plate for him!

RJ - yes - details from Bob! How many times have you talked to him?!!?

(PS) We got a note from DCL/Castaway Club today with a DVD but there was no puzzle!?

annie - so far we have gotten a magnet, puzzle, cd and 3 ducky williams postcard drawings..I told Rick that they could make the cruise cheaper if they stopped sending all this mail..really..I think we have gotten 2 of everything!!

LOL! I am trying so hard to find a video of a Boston Teen skit from SNL, but Im not having any luck. They are so funny!

Glad things well for Jared. I got more bad news about Cams teacher. At the field I ran into another mother who was also Cams Title 1 teacher last year. Her DS was on the same "team"(group of classes) as Cam and she got him moved out because of the teacher. Her DS is alot like Cam with the same issues and she said she just knew it wouldnt work. I think Im going to try to have him moved. I NEVER do stuff like this, but this one is really scaring me.

Oh good luck! Will you be able to do it before school starts? I don't know anything about the teachers at DS's school...my next door neighbor does tho 'cuz her oldest just started HS so she's been thru all of them...she said nobody likes the teacher DS got for Science...but so we'll see if he complains.

If I can butt in here a minute- I used to work at Bab's school and every year when class assignments came out we had a parade of parents in the office SCREAMING that MY CHILD CAN'T POSSIBLY HAVE TEACHER X!!!!! This particular teacher wasn't a great communicator with the parents but she was a good teacher. Her kids all raised their test scores and she was generally liked by the KIDS. My point: teachers get reputations that aren't always accurate and just becuase one kid doesn't "click" with someone doesn't mean another won't. So..... if you can't get Cam moved, give it a chance. He may really like this teacher, they may connect and it could be a great year. Good luck.

OK that schedule would drive me crazy!!

Stymie is a chemical engineer. His specialty is fluid dynamics.

From what I understand, and I am just the wife, Gallo is "reorganizing" its engineering dept. to include a level between R & D and the on site plant engineers. So he could technically do both. Which is interesting to him because its not all managment stuff. There is some tinkering to be done also.

We shall see.

Currently, he is going to begin work on a fluid dynamics problem for Cheri. He is trying to develop a wine that won't slosh out of her glass so she can run the 1/2 marathon with me and Katie at WDW. I suggested a wine glass design change. But what do I know??

LOL, Johnna! At the rate Im going I wont be running at all. My #@$%^ leg is sore again. I'm taking today off. Did I mention I am no good if I dont get my run in?

Cheri, I totlaly agree. I have always seen THOSE parent and I cant believe Im actually becoming one of them, LOL! Its reall my not like me at all. And I wouldnt have if I had only heard she was hard, which was the first 2 things I heard about her. It has really snowballed from there and I have talked to 5 different parents, none of them have anything good to say. Knowing Cam's issues and hearing her teaching style I really have no hope left. Im actually surprised he got put on this team. I just dont think it would be fair if I didnt at least try for him.

OK, so obviously, I don't know how your school system works with this team thing...but now that he's going to MS won't he be changing classes all day and going from teacher to teacher or does he still have the same teacher all day for everything? My DS has a team sort of thing too (I think...) but I think it really just determines his homeroom teacher and his counselor. I believe it is somewhat alphabetical tho so a 'W' is a 'W' so there is not much to change there. Anyway, is he going to have this teacher all day or just for one class? I know last year nobody liked the math teacher DS had. But he made it. Good luck whichever way you go...

OK - Gustave hasn't even hit yet but they said gas prices will go up like 10 cents by the weekend or something nuts - so go fill up today before the signs change!
