Annie/CamColt, My 2 youngest have only 5 days of school left!! Next Wed is the last day of school!!! UGGGG! Did you guys have snow days added on?

I work part time and tried to get in as many hours as I can get. I had to work the past 2 nights at home. I am part time straight hourly. But I have to be at their school Thurs & Fri for luncheons and carnival volunteer help. When school is out, I will barely make 30 hours because their so called camps are not full days.

DS6 can't swim at all. He will go in the pool but just stand and play. I have him signed up for swimming lessons starting next week. This is his 9th swimming lesson sessions. He has not made it to the big pool yet. I've already threatened him that if he doesn't swim across the full length of the pool, he does not get on that big boat of Mickey's like us!!

We start driving down to FL on July 17, 2008 either 4pm or 7pm. We avoid the rush hour.

I was thinking of doing Palo for Brunch also. DH will NOT go with me because he's not into seafood. But DS17 would love to come with me. I know he will still be 17 but he turns 18 on the 26th. Do you think they will let him in? Should I make the ressie for DH and me but bring DS17 to the restaurant?

Also, what do you wear at Palo for brunch?

Our school always starts up the week before Labor Day and runs thru about the 2nd week of June - do your kids start back earlier in August? I think they build in about 3-4 snow days here but they don't knock them off if we don't use them. Thankfully we did not go over this year - I hate that when they have to add days to the end of the year. It hasn't happened here since hurricane Isabelle came thru about 3 yrs ago I think it was (a lot of places were w/o power for several days). I always skip the 3rd week of June and never plan for vacation during that week JUST IN CASE they run over on their days.

I worked PT (30 hrs / week) at my job before the one I just got laid off from. I did it for about 3 yrs. while DS was in the lower elem. grades....it let me get home in time to meet the bus after school. I hated the job and there were NO benefits but I liked the hours. It served its purpose for the short-term anyway.

Well, must go see if DS has combed his hair & finished brushing his teeth yet... Oh, and put some makeup on this HOOOGE zit I still have on my chin before this interview. Nothing like feeling self conscious when meeting someone you want to impress, right?! It is lookin' ready to pop - but I have been trying NOT to as I couldn't decide if which would look worse - the glowing zit or a scab from trying to pop it too many times?! Oh Boy!

i too have a painful zit on my chin!! WTH!! I have been putting stuuff on it and it seems to be going away..I swear it was from the facial sunscreen I used on Monday!!

May - Palo brunch is casual..capri's and a nice top would be fine..I am not sure how strict they are with Palo..I know if kids are a week or so away from there b-day, they will let them move up to the next club..not sure about how the Palo team feels about it.

OK. It's over. I'm home. I was there for 2 hours! Only met with the one person tho. Although she did not give a lot of details about their benefits they apparently exist - I didn't get the impression that they were anything to brag about tho. (Waaaa) It seemed to be going OK and then at the end she drops this bombshell - she says "I need you to take a typing test"! OK, so it wasn't typing a regular word document but it was setting up an invoice. Lots of numbers & columns & a foreign address with lots of weird stuff in it. I did not time myself on it tho 'cuz I didn't want to make myself nervous. I am sure I took a long time tho. I started out totally forgetting about changing the tab type to right tab. I knew there was a better way & I finally remembered it tho & had to go fix 1/2 of it. I felt like such an idiot. I hate tests of any sort. I'm glad I didn't know about it ahead of time. I'm not sure she was looking so much at speed as she was the use / knowledge of Word. She saved it and I'm sure will review how I set everything up. So...dunno. She said she got 70 resumes out of her vague little ad in this little "Gazette" paper! She's interviewing thru next week. So. Now we wait.

LOST finale tonight! Commercial today said they're replaying that last episode "with unseen footage" THEN the 2 hr. finale. Hoping that DS will stay in the pool tonight...then we can come home & eat & start the show!!

I'm a little late to answering, but we start school the Thursday after Labor Day. We are usually out mid June(late teens, early 20s).

What is the drink in the Palo pic? It looks too dark to be Mimosa, or am I just forgetting since its been so long?

I was going to tell you to chin up because LOST is on tonight but you beat me to it. Your previous job is like mine now for me. I am able to go to my kids functions without my bosses saying no I can't go as it was when I was an engineer. I also have no benefits. Best part is that I am gone for the summer and still have a job when the kids are back in school.

We start the Monday before Labor Day. We used to start earlier and be done the Friday before Mem Day. But not anymore with the stupid TX law that we need to start later.

I am bummed that DS10's play is at 7pm. They usually start at 6:30pm. I have the DVR on but I like to watch the whole LOST in order. If we arrive home after 8pm, then I can't watch LOST until 10pm. DS17 picked up the 2 little ones from school and is feeding them dinner now. I want to grab DS10 after his stage performance and tell the teacher that DS6 is not feeling well and we got to go home NOW!!! Life does revolve around LOST esp the season finale!!!!!!!!

Shes guarading her suite so B2B'ers wont go snooping.

Last I heard Sue Ellen was waiting to hear from DCL with a time. I think that is where we stand or I missed something.

And not to sound like a commercial but, I just saved 79.20 on my flights! For fun I went and checked and our flight going went down $20.00. So we have a nice little credit for when we book flights for our cruise next year.

Well, Im off to what is hopefully our last year book meeting.

DDs last day of school was today!! They go back to school in mid August.

CamColt on the cheaper flights!! and thanks for the Palo brunch update - as I recall the nursery is full for both CC days - so I may be out of luck on that one. But Stymie says he will just take her down to the beach with him.

WHOA! No peeps last night!

OK, so who watched LOST? What's your take? I spent the whole episode trying to figure out who Jeremy Bentham would be! Good thing Sawyer got back to the island before it moved! But I guess those people in that little boat with Daniel were just S.O.L. 'eh?! OK, and so what is Charlotte's deal?! She CAME from the island? I read an article in TV Guide that says Sun will really become powerful and almost evil in her quest for revenge or whatever.

So, DH also went to swimming last night. DS started out staying in the water - he swam for like the first 20 minutes then made the mistake of climbing out to sit on the side. THEN he froze and sat there for like 30 min. & refused to get back in. One of the coaches finally got him back in for one more 25 meters and then he got back out and was done. We will go back tonight and try again. It is supposed to get up into the 80's today and over the weekend so I hope that will help the water for NEXT week. There was one other boy about his age who got out & refused to get back in. It's funny 'cuz now they've got the 11/12's swimming in the 7-8:30 practice with the bigger kids (teens). Lanes with the big kids & lanes with the little kids.

Someone on the VR thread said (kinda not very nicely) "oh, I am glad we didn't go in the Palo room...too out of the way"
