Dis Exclusive Viva Italia 9/16 - 9/24/2014

Mike - thanks for sending me chat info since I wasn't able to make it Thursday. I'm hoping they will send me home Tuesday or Wednesday so I'll be there this week for sure.

Christy - Brian said you asked what books I have. I've got rick Steve's Italy 2014 and the DK Eyewitness guides to Rome and Florence (good pictures). I've also got Top 10 Rome Florence and Venice. I like those because they're small and describe each area of the city and have good pull out maps. I have a great book called The Churches of Rome that describes 54 churches in Rome - their history and art. I have one called Eating Italy all about different regional specialties of food and wine. I have one on the history of Florence. Basically I am a half priced books addict. I read one called Walking Through Rome from the library that I really liked. I'm going to have lots of down time to get through them on the next few weeks so if you or anyone else would like me to send you some of my stash PM me your address. Also rick Steve's has a book called Art History for the World Traveler. I borrowed it from my parents and read the sections that are relevant to our trip. I don't know much about art. I like looking at it but don't know much and I really liked how that book put things in historical context. I feel like I will appreciate things better.

We told Russi that we were going to Italy without her...

Hey....thats our hotel.

I love that hotel.:lovestruc

A fantastic hotel, one of the nicest we have ever been in - anywhere!

You cannot see it but just past the red and yellow striped poles, there is a small "patio" outside the hotel's cocktail bar, with three two seat tables.

If you sit there and have a drink, they will bring you a small dish of local olives to nibble on while you soak in the scenery.

Life really doesn't get much better than that.

Have a great trip!
