DIS Divas Trip! (old thread, see first post for link to new one)

Good morning, ladies! :) It's Thursday....one more step closer to Friday and the weekend! :cool1:
I think today I will finally work on finalizing some of the plans for our Spring Break trip to northern CA. I know I've said that a couple times already, but something else always comes up. I can't believe it's only two and a half weeks until we leave and I have no plans!! Those of you who know me know how unusual that is. I usually have every minute of every day planned 6 months out. :p

Anyway, have a great day everyone!

I had a decent size post all set to summit and it disappeared right before my eyes.:confused3
Anyhow, welcome to all the new gals planning on joining us next year.
True about the rain preventing more socializing this year but I still had a great time.
Beth you are so sweet to list everyone by name with a comment too. You rock!!!
YEA for the new committee's. You are going to have fun!
I'll be at Knotts on Sat. Gotta see my guy.;)
Then Sunday at DL. Can't wait to ride BTMR. Going to have to do a child swap since Violet can't ride, or I can just leave her and the hub on a bench while I ride.:)
Hi, Trudi. It was fun to write out that post....a way to give a little shout of to all the ladies who went on the trip. Although most won't ever see it since this place is a ghost town, but that's okay. ;)

I agree with you about the rain, I had a lot of fun. It poured! I haven't seen rain like that in a long time, but I loved it. I'm sure we won't get rain on the trip for another 7 years now. lol

Have fun at Knott's with your guy. :charac2: And at DL with Violet. princess:

How far north are you going for Spring Break? San Francisco to Napa is my playground.

The timing of that rain was so crazy! We've literally had like 2 weekends of rain in the past year (feels like it at least) and of course one of them had to happen during the Diva trip. Certainly changed things up a bit.

TGIF, ladies!! Finally. :cool1: Hope you all have a great weekend.

Well, not too far, only to Santa Cruz/Monterey/Carmel. I have been to San Francisco before and loved it, but I've never been to those areas so I am excited. :)
We have several Divas who live in the San Francisco and surrounding areas so you are in good company!

It sure did! I liked it, but I am sorry about certain things like the cancellation of the BBQ. That would have been fun with such a big group. Oh, well.

How's work? Keeping your sanity with those Spring Breakers??

I love the pictures!!
Thank-you! :)

Happy Friday! It's about time. It's been a crazy week with the weather and what not. Just want the snow to stop!

I could have done without the rain on the trip. One day would have been good enough for me! Maybe next year it will be nicer!

Tomorrow I am going on a girls shopping trip with my husbands mom and sisters tomorrow. It should be fun! Then my brothers will be coming to town in the evening to help celebrate my Mom's 60th which is on Tuesday. She's not too happy about that celebration, lol.

Hope everyone else has a good weekend!

Well I'm going to get back in the habit of coming here more often.

Have fun at Knott's with your guy. :charac2: And at DL with Violet. princess:

Thanks. I'm a little worried about the crowds, spring breakers and it's Mini Gay Days as well. I plan to eat the food I didn't get on the trip. LOL I'm hoping to eat at Café Orleans, have a corn cheese stick and a Gold Rush at Ghirardelli.:woohoo:

My goodness where is our fearless leader??

Hope you're all having a fabulous evening. My kids are in bed so I am at peace!

So as some of you know I signed up for my first ever RUN of any kind (the Avengers 5K) and Robert (Pop Tart) will be coming with me. He hasn't been to DL in YEARS and I want to show him as much as possible of the parks. We will be driving from Phoenix early Friday morning and have Friday afternoon and Saturday after the run (which I understand is very early and won't take long). We also apparently have bib pick up Friday at the DLH that MUST be done that day. Do you think it's worth a park hopper for Friday and Saturday for him (I have an AP right now) or just the two day one park per day tickets? I have never had a one park per day but I feel like if we got them for him I would find some reason to want the hopper! I really don't know how much park time we will end up having on Friday after driving in and having to go through goodness knows what kind of crowds for the bib pickup.

Hey Karisa - I am of the opinion to always get a park hopper for the flexibility. You just never know with crowds! Good luck with your first run - I will be surprised if there aren't other Divas!

Bridget that's what I think too! Thanks for the validation ;-)

Hi Karisa! What is the Avenger Marathon?:confused3

January, not sure on the shirts yet. I have some extras from this past year and that is it. As time get closer, we will see about the rest.
Excited that you might come next year! :cool1:

Yay for our new teams!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Hi Karisa! What is the Avenger Marathon?:confused3

Hi Melody!!!

I guess it's a new run this year.... I have an old high school friend who lives in Southern California now and he has turned into a running fanatic (traveling to WDW to run in them too) and he kinda got me sold on the idea even though I do NOT RUN! I figure 5K won't kill me. Anyway it's in Disneyland this November and we are super excited! Of course I am more excited about renewing Robert's acquaintance with Disneyland than the run.....

Was anyone in Disneyland this weekend for all of the earthquake fun? My lead team totally jinxed it with silly earthquake questions during our meeting that morning. Our bad! ;)

My goodness where is our fearless leader??

Way to go, getting in on the Avengers Half Marathon Weekend for the 5K. I had been on the fence about registering for the half (I've become a runDisney 1/2 fanatic thanks to Sarah) but in the end I really couldn't justify the cost this year when I'm trying to fly out to WDW for the Wine & Dine Half next winter.

As for the tickets, I'm a big believe in park hoppers, but nowadays with more to do at DCA one day one park tickets aren't so shabby. Keep in mind that runDisney events skew attendance a little and the evenings will be a lot busier than the daytime.

I did not sign up for the Avengers half marathon either. Doing two run Disney events during the year already takes a big chunk of money plus I'm just not a big fan of the theme.

But my mom and I do plan to go that weekend and volunteer. We've never done it but I think it would be fun.

I also plan to volunteer for the 10K during the Disneyland half marathon Labor Day weekend.

My niece Violet will be running the kids races so will be there Saturday anyways.

So, some of the Divas are fellow runners, supporters of a runner, and volunteers :cool1:

Closer to the events, let's plan to meet up, even if it is a standing-in-line-for-space-mountain-sharing-our-experiences-of-the-event informal meet.

Disneyland tickets for runDisney events at Disneyland can be purchased for a discount: $25 off a one-day park hopper, $40 off a two-day park hopper, and $60 off of the three, four, and five day park hoppers (a one-day, one park is $10 off).

I do not yet understand the DISboards rules on posting names of retail companies and links. If someone would chime in to let me know if I can post the travel company (it is the one designated by runDisney) and/or a link here, I will do so. If that is not allowed, can I PM you? Thanks for helping me learn the ropes of the forums.

I finally got my taxes done and look forward to getting caught up on this thread. For you new runners -- Karisa :yay: -- and you seasoned runners -- Bella Ella, and others I've yet to identify -- happy training :woohoo: And to Divas, all, happiness in the things you enjoy doing :goodvibes

Not even just the Divas, but all over the DIS between here on the Disneyland board or over on the W.I.S.H. (we're inspired to stay healthy) board as well! Have you had a chance to explore the event threads? We eventually try to plan meet ups there as well so if you're looking for even more support there is tons of it all over the DIS!

Here's a few of the threads and with W.I.S.H. board as well:

• 2014 Disneyland 1/2 Marathon Weekend ** Check-In

• 2014 DL Avengers Half Marathon Weekend 11/14-11/16!!

• W.I.S.H.

• Events/Competition

There's already a lot of posting in all the threads listed regarding the runDisney weekends and GetTravel and the other things that are all involved with it so you should be fine. But meet ups can definitely be planned!

I did not sign up for the Avengers half marathon either. Doing two run Disney events during the year already takes a big chunk of money plus I'm just not a big fan of the theme.

Did you still have the itch to sign up for it? I knew I wasn't going to but there was still this desire to regardless of my disinterest in the actual theme. Darn inaugural medals!

Hello, ladies! Happy April Fool's Day. I thought I'd try to do something funny to trick my kids, but I think the motto of the day is "Believe nothing and trust no one." lol So, I doubt anything would have worked. Anyone have any good pranks they either played or had played on them?

By the way, the Captain Morgan Taco Rum and video I posted on our FB page was an April Fool's joke from the company. Although.... who knows, it might not be half bad since someone mentioned they liked spicy drinks. ;)

We had the plumber come out today. No joke there. I wish. Both our showers are leaking. The kids shower is leaking below into the laundry room and our master bath shower is leaking into the garage! Thankfully we are renters so we won't have to pay out of pocket for this, but still. What a hassle!

Have a good day, ladies! TTYL!

Tomorrow I am going on a girls shopping trip with my husbands mom and sisters tomorrow. It should be fun! Then my brothers will be coming to town in the evening to help celebrate my Mom's 60th which is on Tuesday. She's not too happy about that celebration, lol.
Hi, Andrea! I hope you had a good shopping trip and a fun celebration. :)

Hi, Trudi! So, how was it? I saw a few pics....looked like you were having fun.
We love Café Orleans. Yummmm.

mmmm corn cheese stick. it's been way too long.
Hi, January! Would you consider that a pregnancy craving? ;) I don't believe I've ever had a corn cheese stick. Hmm. I'll have to change that next time!

Hey, Karisa, I'm here, I'm here. :thumbsup2 Busy weekend with the family. Saturday we went up to Mt. Charleston to explore and Sunday we spent the day out and about taking some pics for Noelle's senior year. Fun, but tiring.

Good for you on signing up for the run! That's awesome. Very cool you can run it with Robert. You guys will have fun exploring the parks! Lucky for him he's got a great tour guide. :goodvibes

Hi, Bridget.... hope you are enjoying WDW! pixiedust:

Yay for our new teams!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
Double yay! I'm excited to see what they bring to the planning for next year.
Welcome back, Miss Melody! How was your trip?

Was anyone in Disneyland this weekend for all of the earthquake fun? My lead team totally jinxed it with silly earthquake questions during our meeting that morning. Our bad! ;)
Hi, Jessica! So.... you guys were to blame. Tsk, tsk. ;)

My niece Violet will be running the kids races so will be there Saturday anyways.
Hi, Sarah! That's nice you are going to volunteer. That sounds fun, too. I can't believe Violet will be in the kid's race. How adorable!!

I finally got my taxes done and look forward to getting caught up on this thread.

Hi, Teri! Ahhh, speaking of taxes we are supposed to get those done tomorrow. I am not looking forward to that... :faint:

I had a fun weekend. Didn't feel the earthquakes on Sat at Knotts. They made an announcement and you could tell the Calif people from the out of state people. We just shrugged our shoulders.:rotfl:
DL on Sun didn't seem too crowded to me. At 10:30am the wait time for Big Thunder was only 20 minutes.
Still didn't get the food I wanted, hub didn't like the sound of the Monte Cristos, and didn't have a ticket for CA. Guess I'm going to have to go back alone to eat what I want.
The Billys were looking good!

Beth--- I am pretty sure the corn cheese stick is an everyday craving. For me at least. :bitelip:
