DIS Divas Trip! (old thread, see first post for link to new one)

Good morning, ladies!! Monday and April Fool's Day all rolled into one. Fun times. lol I never try to trick anyone. Everyone is too suspicious on this day already and I am horrible at keeping a straight face. :rolleyes1
According to my calendar it's also national Fun at Work Day. So, good luck with that. :thumbsup2

Tentatively planning on May 8-10. And my older son, Tristan (8) would like me to insert this smilie here:

As he says, "Do the dancing banana!"
Hi, Tristan! We love the dancing banana!!
Good choice. :thumbsup2

I hope you all ad a nice Easter. We had 40 plus people at our house today, and I was ever so happy that it didn't rain!
Yay for no rain, Tina! Did you cook for everyone?

No news on hubby's job situation. Things are wavering between anxiety and depression around here. Ugh.
:( Ugh, that sucks. I'm sorry. Keeping my fingers crossed that something turns up soon!!!

Name is Korabel Lynn and she was 7.4. Shane texted me at 2:30 to tell me and then I had a heck of a time getting back to sleep.
Congratulations to you and Lynn! Cute name. Have you been over to see the baby yet? :goodvibes

Thanks Beth! My breakfast was good but the company was better - we just laughed and made a spectacle of ourselves at the Wildflower on Sunday morning. :rotfl2:
Aw, those are the best times! Glad you had such fun. Good luck today with the orientation. :wizard:

Happy Monday everyone. Hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend. I had Friday off since I work for a Christian organization and we got Good Friday off :woohoo:. Our Easter festivities were great and I'm loving our new blended family.

I've been having a hard time keeping up on here and FB so I hope all is well with everyone.

Wendy~ I hope your morning sickness goes away soon and I just wanted to rub it in that I never got morning sickness with any of my kids :p...

As for your prince, he'll arrive, when the time is right. You'll find someone who will love you and make you truly happy. Just ask Katie and Amy S., two of our other Divas. :goodvibes

Karisa~ You'll find your perfect match when you least expect it. I thought I was going to be single for the rest of my life and I was perfectly content with that. But now that I have Cliff, I'm the happiest I've ever been and every day I go to bed wondering how I ever lived without him. I can honestly say he's my soulmate...awwww :lovestruc.

Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I had a great Easter yesterday (although LisaCat wasn't kidding about the thunder - it was incredible!) We had a nice dinner. I asked my friend Nancy about going to the Diva trip next year and she said YES! Of course, her hubby now wants a trip to DL all by himself too.:lmao::lmao:

Congrats Kellie about the grandbaby!

For those not on Facebook, I have now bought my orange pub crawl tee shirt (thanks to a great sale on Champion activewear at Target.) There apparently is no Disney Outlet in Sacramento - what is up with that???

Happy Monday everyone, no foolin'!

Thanks Cindy!

Beth we are going after the girls get out of school. :)

Sounds like fun! :cool1: Let me know where :car: I'm happy to help plan Karisa, Staci, or Tami (I apologize if I missed someone - it is still early). Let me know what I can do to help.

Yes - an AZ meet would be fun! Maybe after Karisa's trip in May and before my trip in June??? Just a thought - :confused3

Happy Monday everyone - back to work and back to Orientation YAY!! :cool1::dancer: <--- This is me trying to advise 10 students and get them registered in one hour and fifteen minutes. It's great cardio!

I think I'll be in DL the weekend after Karisa, May 18-20. DD17 has graduation on May 17, otherwise I'd be going on that day!

I wondered how the registration worked. At least my DD had her schedule pretty much already figured out, other than she has English right now for college credit so she can't actually get into English 102 until she finishes. And she's going in with 24 credits already. DH wants her to do some CLEP classes over the summer but I'm not sure what she would take. She's already got Biology, US History, English 101 and a couple of math classes.

See Karisa, Katie is a perfect example!!
I'm so glad you had a good Easter with the family, Katie. :goodvibes

Yay for orange!

For high school? In May? That's early. Adam doesn't graduate until June 12.

Okay, ladies! For those of you who are interested, here is the link to sign up for the Summer Fun exchange.

24 credits already is great! CLEP is tricky because we don't always take it so you would want to check with her advisor before spending the money on the tests. That English dual enrollment is tough right now - it is great once the credit comes in but there is definitely a limbo stage there.

I did read about your trip too - but forgot when I was posting - again with the easily distracted. ;) I think I have to be so focused when working with students that when I'm not I tend to space out a bit.

Between all of us I'm sure we'll figure out a time that works. It would be fun to get to know you all before the trip.

Yup. School is actually done the week after but the seniors get out early. We start the 2nd week in August.

I know what you mean about the clep stuff. I always refer to the ASU page about which tests they accept. DS21 clepped out of English 101 4 years ago. DD23 went into her freshman year with, I think, 17 credits. Problem was she went to a private school and they only accepted clep tests for up to 30 credits so she had that by the time she finished her first semester so she didn't get to do any. I didn't know anything about them, DH said he did them... MANY years ago.

Beth, you should look into clep tests for Adam. Basically they can take a test for about $150 that gives them credit for a full-semester college class. BUT you have to go to the college's website or talk to someone there to find out what clep tests they actually accept. Where is he going to college?

Here's the official link: http://clep.collegeboard.org/exam

Oh, wow. I keep forgetting how early y'all start and get out. I wish the kids had that schedule.

I haven't heard of Clep. I'll have to look into it. Thanks! He's most likely going to start off at a junior college, CSN, to get started on his general studies. He already knows he wants to enter the police academy, but he can't do that until he's 21.
ETA: They only accept them at UNLV and he's not going there. At least not right off the bat.

Definitely check out the college's website for CLEP test information. I know for us it's a lot cheaper to get credits that way for the general education classes than by taking the actual class. Here's the link for you: http://www.csn.edu/pages/583.asp

You also need to check when they can take them. Christine could only take them until she had 30 total credit hours. Allyson can take them up until she has 60 credit hours. They're especially good for a student who is smart in specific subjects, even if they haven't actually taken the class in HS. Bob actually took a bunch of clep tests before he started college and was able to "clep out of" Psychology 101 and Sociology 101 and he never had those classes in high school.

Thanks, Stacie. I'm going to try and call CSN and find out. They gave the info about CLEP on the CSN website, but it wasn't clear if they actually accept it.
When I went to that other website, it only listed UNLV. :confused3 Kind of confusing, but I'll try to figure it out. It would be nice if he could get some college credits before starting. He's taking one college class now in HS, but it would be nice to have more.

When will you be there? A group of us will be there for MouseAdventure May 17-20 or so.

Yup! Sounds like a good idea!! Start the planning... :thumbsup2

Stacie can you tell me about Mouse Adventure? I've seen it mentioned a couple times in various threads but can't get a clear idea of what it's all about.

Sounds like you've got a handle on the CLEP stuff.

Yikes, I've been so busy lately I haven't been coming over here!

Congratulations to everyone having munchkins and grandmunchkins and stuff, so awesome!

I put in for my personal leave day today, I'm taking off May 17th, the day after my birthday. I might be able to persuade my boss to let me have Monday the 20th too... MouseAdventure would be soooo fun! Gonna have to look into that.

Kid #2 turned 16 yesterday and there has been lots of craziness around here. But it's always fun.

It's a very intense scavenger hunt put on by Mouseplanet.com. We've been doing it for about 3-4 years. If you go to their website, there is a message board all about it. It's fun, but you definitely have to be competitive!!

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend...mine was wonderful! We haven't had an Easter that warm in years...it usually rains! And to top it all off my mom took the kids to Oregon for a week so it is just dh and I! We went out to dinner at Olive Garden tonight...so nice to have some adult conversation. Tomorrow I am starting an 8 week (2 times per week) fitness boot camp :scared1:...I'll let you know how it goes!

Laters,

Good morning, ladies!!

Sarah, good luck at the fitness boot camp! Maybe that's what I need...

Heather, Happy Sweet 16 to your daughter! :cool1:

Everyone else, I hope you have a good Tuesday!

Good Luck with the boot camp Sarah May! :cheer2:

I have always wondered what they are like but have been too intimidated to actually sign up and go.

Get a team together and just do it! That's what we finally did. My first team was my friend Heather and my 2 daughters in December, 2009. It rained virtually all day!! It was called Reindeer games but was renamed Rain Gear games. If you want to give me your email, I can send you some of the packets. I've scanned them all in. No 2 are alike, so it will only give you an idea of what MIGHT be part of the game.

You are right...I should just go for it. Thank you for the offer - I'll PM you my email when I get to work in the morning. :)
