DIS/DIS Unplugged 12/13/08 Mousefest Event Sign-Up Page Info

I love how we hijack threads...... seriously!

It is one of the truest signs of the greatness of this forum and community that even the SIGN UP thread for "Mania Meet 2008," arguably one of the most anticipated announcements and biggest sources of Angst for a community of psycho-planners, can be hijacked!

Gotta love this place....:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

If I am able to sign up on Thursday I will be flying down Saturday morning and flying home on Sunday afternoon LOL (nonstop flights). I know this sounds crazy, but I was not able to get a cheap enough room rate for Friday night and want this quick getaway to be as inexpensive as possible. I did get a studio on points at OKW this past Friday morning so no out of pocket expense yet. I've done other crazy things like this before. Back in Dec of 2000 I took a flight out to Minniapolis on a Saturday morning and flew back that same evening so I could go Christmas shopping at the Mall of America. :lmao: It was a lot of fun.

OK, I am now 100% booked! :cool1:

Since it's just me, I'm going Value. I tried finding a room on Disney.com & they showed no availability. Orbitz had some, though!! Flight + room = $393. Sweeeeeet. (Does anyone know how/if I can add Magical Express to an Orbitz reservation?)

Now, I've just got to get in to the TSM event!:rolleyes1 Hopefully if I do make it onto the sign-up list quickly enough, DU won't boot me for not booking through them ;) I wonder if I can switch it to DU, kind of like you can do a cruise??

Yay! Wow i have en event full 2 days planed now sighn up for dismeet and go to halloween horrer the next night :).

ITs gonna be a pain in the but to sighn all 8 of my family mebers up.

Should i count the four year old as one?

Kevin, where can I get some good ribs around wdw. Ive never liked ribs, but since your craving them maybe theres something to this meat stuck on a bone thing.;)

I hear that Kevin would gladly go back to T-Rex for their ribs....

The ribs at TREX were good.

The necessary crisis counseling and perscription meds necessary following your visit make them pricey.

There is a cheesy chain in the South called Sonny's Real Pit Barbecue. It's cheap and it's usually good. We've also been there when it's not.

Decent BBQ when considering the price....and almost every entree is available in an "all you can eat" version for a buck more. We're not talking alot of money here....I think the most expensive menu iitem s $15 and that's for the baby back ribs. They are not available as "all you can eat".

Celebration Town Tavern also has great ribs.

Not to mention the dangers of using their drive through...

John, and the rest of the Team, I just wanted to say THANK YOU first of all for hosting this fabulous party, giving us all chance of a lifetime and to do it at no extra cost, and finally for posting what time you will make the sign-up live so the constant checking via my Treo while I'm on the go can stop :thumbsup2

Now, I just have to figure out how to set an alarm on my Treo...hmmmm.......:confused3   Oh, duh, I can just use the Outlook sync thing to do it.

Edited to post: I didn't realize this computer was logged in as my husband. LOL! This post was made by Iwynlea, not just_steve. hehehe.

Hi Annette

after reading your post I jumped on over to orbitz and booked the night of the 12th at All Star Music. I can't believe they have some of Disney's rooms and you can't even get them from Disney directly because they are sold out. I then went and purchased my plane tickets so I am definitely going regardless as to what happens on Thursday.

To answer your Magical Express question. By tomorrow orbitz should have your Disney confirmation #. You can then call their customer TLC department at 1-888-656-4546 and they can add your Magical Express flight info. They have a link up with Disney for this, so no problem.

It would have been nice to give the business to DU but since Disney wasn't showing any availability, you gotta do what ya gotta do.:)

I also just registered with Mousefest and will now be arriving Friday morning at 10:00 and staying at ASMU and leaving on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 and staying at OKW on Saturday on points. Transferring resorts should be easy as I won't have much luggage for two nights. Just a small carry on.

OKAY, NOW I'M REALLY EXCITED. I'M GOING TO MOUSEFEST!

See what happens when the podcast team dangles a carrot in front of our noses. We all go crazy!

It's okay for me to go crazy, my name is KIM!:rotfl:

That's the other great thing about this forum - we're all a bunch of enablers! :rotfl:

So, are you going solo? Maybe I'll see you in the food court at ASMu :teeth:

Yes, I am going solo. It will be nice to put some faces to names. I got to meet a few people during the Aug 31 Dole Whip for Bob meet. I am looking forward to meeting many more. It would be fun to meet up with a couple of other solo travelers to do some of the mousefest activities. I haven't yet decided what I want to do other than the Mega Mouse Meet on Saturday and of course hopefully the TSM event.

I wish we could get to WDW with a few weeks notice :sad2: We booked our flights in Feb  and are looking at flights for next Sept now:eek:

Roll on Thurs 1am :scared1: (I must be mad :rotfl: )

Cool!

Also, I forgot to say "thanks" above for the tip about Orbitz & Magical Express. So, :thanks:

Yes, each person regardless of age must have their own sign-up.

Disney is charging us the same amount for each person regardless of age - fair huh?

Hi John,

Does this apply for a 1-year-old also? Even DIsney considers him "free".

Very excited!!!

That's kinda what I'm doing. I'll fly in on Friday morning (on SW) and then fly home on Sunday afternoon. Quick weekend...only 2 days of admission and not a lot of time to do everything there is to do for Christmas, but i'm not complaining! DH and I had originally agreed when we filed our adoption paperwork that we would not take any vacations until we got the call for China. This will make trip #4 that i've taken since then...:lmao:

I've just got to figure out how to get from the airport to the Dolphin and back as cheaply as I can! Thought about a rental car, but i'm kinda freaked out about driving by myself. I'll figure it out though! Anything to get me to my beloved WDW! :yay:

You can use the Mears shuttle..I think it's about $32 r/t to the S/D. I used it last month and it was really okay. I paid $19 for one way though. You can prebook it, on line, or just head to the Mears counter when you get to MCO. It's right down by the DME counter..makes you feel a bit left out when you see everyone heading to the DME counter but hey...at least you'll be at WDW. I'll be at the Dolphin as well.
