Everyone Loves a Parade...

Two weeks ago, we scheduled a last minute trip to WDW. We will be there from June 8th - 14th. I can't wait to see the Block Party Bash Parade that they brought over from CA. Since this trip has little to no planning and we didn't do the advanced dining reservations - I have scheduled everything around the parade times!

The challenge is to create a layout using pictures from a Disney Parade.

Requirements:

1) Please use at least 4 pictures.
2) Please use one patterned piece of paper and one solid (can have texture) piece of paper - please "tear" one of these pieces.
3) Please include a title that is NOT the name of the parade.
4) Please do not put any of the elements squarely on the layout - in other words - everything except for the background papers needs to be cattywampus.
5) Please include a date somewhere on the layout.

Please post your entries by 11:00 PM ET on Tuesday, June 3, 2008. Be sure to include credits in your post or a link to your full credits.

The exciting part is the prize! There will be two winners - one chosen with the help of one of my resident Disney experts, my six year old daughter and the other randomly selected - drawn out of a mickey ears hat :)

One of Britt's designer friends, Erica Zane has generously donated two kits from her store at SnapandScrap shop. Here is the link so that you can check it out. http://snapandscrap.net/shoppe/index.php?main_page=index&manufacturers_id=8&zenid=eb25020712abf61749cab1aa4b7c3eeb
I really like her kits and I think that you will too! Take a minute to check out her shop. ERICA, the DIS Digi-Scrappers appreciate your generosity.

A HUGE - THANK YOU to Britt for setting this up - I was going to make one of the requirements - must use an element from a Britt-ish Designs Kit - but almost everyone does this already!!

Yzerbear did such a great job this past week. I am going to copy her idea of posting all of the layouts at the beginning of the post in succession.

I hope I didn't miss anything - please post if I did!

Have Fun!!!!

Jennifer

OOOOOHHHHHH! I love parades! We didn't see at Disneyland since they were later in the day, but I have lots of pictures from our WDW trip last year. Hmmmm . . . will have to put my thinking cap on. Going to have problems with the askew requirement since I like mine to be straight!

Great idea for a challenge! :)

Cool! I'm not sure which parade I'm going to do yet, since I have SO many choices! I posted a link to this thread in last week's challenge so everyone knows where to find the new challenge! I love Wednesdays!! LOVE the prize this week, too! I have a couple of EZ's kits already and I have my eye on a few more! Thanks for setting this up, Britt!

Wow! I can't believe I'm the first! Great challenge - I love the parades at Disney (and now so does my DS!)

Bernie-Ann,

You are a speedy scrapper!! I really like the way you placed the photos in succession and "stapled" them down. I have never managed to get Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather all in one picture! I was on ScrapMatters checking out Got-A-Date while you were posting your layout. I like the way you have it on top of the torn piece with the staple. Great Job!! Thanks for participating:)

Bernie-Ann aka super-speedy! Great LO! I really like the photos-- they are colorful and the light was just right.

Thanks for hosting this week Disney Baby!

Way to go Bernie-Ann. Wow. Speed Scrapper Indeed! Great layout- I'm going to be scrapping the same parade. I just love that parade (it's the only one my DH will tolerate waiting around to see for me). Good job. Love it!

Bernie-Ann, I can't believe you're finished already! Great LO! Can't wait to see the parades next week.

I used Britt's mini kit and photo shop. I followed the rules of the week and it was fun!
Thanks :)

sleepingbean,

I think the pictures look cool all askew and I like the little blue brads/tacks to hold each one - with 2007 - VERY CLEVER!!! How much fun is it to be part of the action! Thanks for participating and thanks for following all of the "rules".:)

The other thing that is interesting is how they have changed this parade ever so slightly over the years. I think I have pictures with the Princesses inside globes.

I really like this one. I am terrible at parade pictures - so I am planning on scraplifiting :cool1:

That last picture is of my daughter and a cast member (and several other children) carrying the parade banner at the end of the parade. My daughter was SO excited to be asked to participate in the parade!
It was a magic moment for sure!
:goodvibes

just had to explain that (otherwise that picture probably seems strange!)
LOL

and I should thank you for this challenge. I had never needed to "tear paper" before, so I figured out how to do that in photoshop for this week's challenge! Learn something new every day :)

Disney Baby - WHAT A FUN CHALLENGE! I really do need a kick in the butt to get my parade photos scrapped. What fun! THANKS!!

Bernie - So speedy and so so cute. That parade looks like such fun! Our DL parade is VERY different.

Sleepingbean - How cute! I love your sneaky 2007 brads! :) Very clever!!

Ooh, I love Disney parades! I was actually planning a digital LO for Spectro in my head the last few days, and first thought I'd be able to do it for this challenge, but other than the first rule, nothing would fit. So I'll have to think of something else.

I don't know how to tear paper, though? Can someone explain how to do that in photoshop, or link to a tutorial? I'd love to learn, even without this challenge!

Bernie-Ann & sleepingbean-Wow, you guys are fast! I love the Dreams Parade (I recently printed over 100 pics from it to scrap! I have a hard time narrowing down pics to use. ;))

Well, here's mine. Turns out I don't know how to read properly. My pictures are straight and the tear is on the picture. I didn't see it til they were placed and I didn't want to move or tilt them, I liked them as is! Odds are I won't have time to do another, so here it is in its glory. I made a play on the parade title for mine, DH came up with it! I had to do the LO twice, my program crashed when I was almost done, I had last saved after just the pics were in place, sigh!

kswm,
I just used the first online tutorial I found and basically you just hand draw your ragged tear with the lasso tool and then use the smudge tool at 50% in a zig zag motion around the edges after that.
Viola...torn paper!
Here is the one I used
http://www.myjanee.com/tuts/torn/torn.htm

I used a tutorial once, but no idea where I found it. The other option if you want to spend a small bit of money is to buy an action from Atomic Cupcake. I find them easy to use and the results look great. I was lucky that I got most of my actions back when they charged a monthly fee, but you could download as much as you wanted in that month. Now they charge per item.

My favorite one for tearing is: http://www.atomiccupcake.com/item.php?id=000307

And each one comes with instructions how to use it. With the tears just remember to have whatever color you want the tear to be to be the foreground color. I can't tell you how many times I forget to switch it and then have to redo it!

Beautiful LO, Fran! It's perfect for SW. Love how all your stars turned out. Have fun in WDW! We'll be at Artist Point at WL on Monday night...maybe we'll bump into you!

Sleepingbean, great LO! I noticed your 2007 brads right away. That's a neat idea!
