Just curious....I'm bringing some pins for trading and was wondering who else was? I usually wear a lanyard with some pins for trading as I go through the parks. I don't really have anything spectacular, so I usually trade with the CM's. I plan on trying to attend a pin trader mini-meet or two, if I can fit them in. At the very least, I'll be doing the pin meet on our last morning of the convention. Anyone else pin trading??

DH is bringing one trader binder. I will wear a lanyard, and bring a small trader binder. We are looking forward to the pin mini-meets.

I'll be there with lots of pins to trade with the CMs Nothing spectacular to trade with other people I am sure. Most of mine are Disneyland pins that didn't trade well last year. But I don't care. Pin trading is fun if you let it be.

Of course, this all depends on how the airline is about carrying them on board the plane.

Tammy, I put my pins in my carry on last year and got stopped then. So, I think I'm packing them in my checked luggage this time. I am keeping my carry on to a minimum, just in case they make me dump it. I would love to see your DL pins. I have a lot of pins I thought would be good traders, and so did everyone else!! So, for the people that are really, really into pins, they already have what I have. :)
shoes99, do you carry your binders around with you? I try to go with just the lanyard. I hate carrying a lot of stuff with me to the parks.

Barb,

Kinda scared about packing them in the checked luggage due to theives or the like. Would rather have them with me. We always traveled with 3 carry ons (backpacks) between us so I figure with just me I should be able to get everything into one regular bag and being in first class I'll have a little more room for my bag. (I hope)

I expect to get to the airport way early so I have time to endure the search of everything piece by piece if need be. I think at Orlando it won't be so bad (they are used to the pin crowd by now)but at the local airport they may make a big deal.

I have decided to not bring film but to buy it there even with the extra cost because they usually make a big deal of opening all my film cannisters and I expect that to be much worse now. I am expecting the same inspection of my pins.

I usually just wear a lanyard or 2 in the parks with a small ziploc in my fanny pack and keep the bags in the room to check each night so I don't duplicate.

I just wear a lanyard in the parks, but I do have a small Mickey CD player case that I put in my backpack just in case. DH on the other hand carries his binder where ever he goes. He either uses a canvas bag or a back pack.

I'm feeling VERY intimidated about now! I'm hosting the pin mini meet on the last day and haven't a single pin to trade. (Actually, I have a rare limited pin that Some collectors have really been interested in, but it has sentimental value so I'll just wear it, not trade it :) )I'll have to pick some up when we get there. I'm sure you kind folks can give us newbies some trading hints and tips :)

Hey guys beleive me there will be plenty of pin traders around. I am sure it will range from novice to well there are no sharks on the DIS.

I will be hosting the first meet at Atlatinc Dance at 5:30 on the 28th.
Please come and join us. Even if you are just a CM trader the wealth of knowledge of some traders is amzing. And some of the collections are outstanding. And believe me we are all in it just for the fun after all they are just hunks of medal. But a great way to get to know your fellow DISers.

I am not into pins, but can I say I am so looking forward to meeting all of you.. Hey Lisa, hugs.. we shall party..

For all DIS new pin traders, go to your local Disney Store and buy some $4.00 100 Years of Magic Pins to bring with you to DISCON. Then you can trade these pins with cast members for WDW and Resort Pins right off their lanyards. It is fun. I was in Disneyland in Sept and I traded my disney store $4.00 pins for almost the entire set of Disneyland 45th Anniv. parade pins. I was happy.
Michele.

Dh and I collect pins, but have never traded. We only buy pins that we want to keep. If we happen to wear any of them will we be expected to trade them? Can you refuse to trade a pin or is that totally unacceptable? Someone please help!!

No you do not have to trade any pins for anything unless you want to. The only ones that have to trade are CMs and then there are rules.

You may be mistaken for a cast member if you wear a lanyard but just explain that you are not trading and you are not a cast member. The trading is just a way to get the guests to interact with each other and with the cast.

Most likely you will never be approached by anyone to trade. Down at DL, we are almost never asked to trade although we see people slying checking out our lanyards. WDW might be different but just remember that you do not have to trade anything unless you are comfortable with it. It is not bad manners to walk away from a trade if you are not happy.

So buy a few just to trade and see what you can find. You never know you might make a new friend or two or three.

I have only been asked to see my pins on my lanyard one time by another guest. Other than that, I just trade with the CM's. I've picked up some neat pins that way. Just wanted to let you all know that I sorted through my pins and I've got some neat pins for trading. (I think-sometimes what I think is neat, others have or don't want.) I've loaded up 2 lanyards and I'm bringing my pin bag of traders for the mini meets. I'll wear the lanyards while I'm walking around the parks. It won't be long now! :bounce: :bounce:
