Dis Breast Cancer Survivors Part IV - GAGWTA

dancind thinking about you

slg... the hormones that you want, may come from your PCP. Not sure since you are in Canada and have a different system. I tell patients to call and set up an appt for 2 weeks if none scheduled when they come out of the hospital.

Was a nice weekend.. not too hot for me. Saw a little in MK but wasnt there long. There are some areas open in the new part (Goofys ride, train station, bathroom and 1/2 dumbo. The ground has track marks from the circus. My niece and I need to do a trip with just her and I. No offense to mom. It has to do with crowds too. Thought I would get over towards SM and BTM but BTM was closed yesterday. Was thinking about Lisa.

really dont want to work today... but I have a few patients I dont want others to see. The are coming along well.

sha:

What's a PCP? Is that like a GP (general practitioner)?

sorry I was in work mode as I typed. Primary Care Physician. Yes, it would be like a GP, though for my job, its also the ordering MD.

I have a blister on my hand from my pole class. Im going to have to cover it. Its starting to hurt. LOL

Hello everyone:

I had my oophorectomy on Friday and came home yesterday. Feeling bloated and sore and sad too. The oncologist left no instructions on a follow up appointment. Before the surgery she did say that she would call in two weeks when the pathology report came in to tell me if they found cancer. However, I have no idea if she saw anything during the surgery suspicious as she didn't come to see me. Weird.

Now I just have to wait. She left a prescription for HRT, which I started yesterday but I do not feel too happy about taking premarin. I was hoping for bio identical hormones. I do have the prometrium. Sigh. This is all scary and I haven't really come to terms with the fact that I no longer produce my own female hormones. Sad. Worried also about HRT, but willing to try it for a little while so I don't go into instant menopause.

Of course it is scary and you have every right to feel the way you do. I think it is a great idea to take meds so you don't go into menopause. Hey I have had those symptoms for 10yrs now. Trust me you don't want them:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I know everything is going to be fine.. As the old saying goes no news is good news. Thinking of you:flower3:

slg - hope you are healing and resting
I also went into surgical menopause as they call it, after my surgery.

Our last day here. MK, Epcot, LTT and Tutto and swimming

I am tired and my bones and body ache

Hi everyone, guess I am a survivor now. The anticipation of the surgery was worse than the actuality. I have a pain ball and that seems to be handling the pain now. I've even walked a couple of times.

So I'm waiting for my doctor to stop by. I'd really like to go home today!

Glad you are such good spirits. I hope you go home too!!!

I felt that way about my surgery for my neck. I stayed up all night and talked to a friend. Don't remember the pain so much. Make sure you stay REALLY hydrated. Dont want you to get backed up.

Sorry that the end of the trip is there already LMP

Did I tell you all that I took a pole dancing class???? LOL it was a lot of fun! going to do it again in July and probably August. Can hardly wait for my Birthday party in June with some of my girls! Will tell you about that afterwards

Isn't being backed up part of the deal? I did get to go home yesterday and doing better every day.

preferably not backed up. its preventable and more discomfort than you should need to go through.

slg and Diana - hope you are both healing and getting stronger each day and that your pain is manageable.

Laurie - suppose you are still recovering from the graduation

Linda - almost pool time!!

Well we went to Splash Mountain when we were there and I asked the cm if Meg was working. She said, she didnt think a girl named Meg was working today etc.

Today was suppose to be the first big meeting. The prayers and behind the scenes things have worked as well as everything that was required for us to do was very good etc. So ds2 is getting the best he can under the circumstances.
Things still need to be finalized for other things. Lets just say he will be a very busy boy this summer for no pay and I think I am still going to have to drive him to school in the fall. We will see what happens.

Ds3 is thinking of doing the cc RN and then doing the BSN bridge program since his one professor clarified some things for him. It would be the most cost effective instead of the private college BSN program.

GAGWTA. Thinking of you all

Oh I forgot to say that on the way home our flight was delayed 4 1/2 hours!! Yup we were stuck in Orlando forever at the airport. They said the plane had equipment problems and they had to bring us a new plane.

So for our trouble we each got a $100 airline voucher.

Hmm, guess I will have no problem convincing dh to go to the food and wine for a few days on October now with the APs and cashing in the ff miles for probably the Swan, it should make for a practically free trip!!

Am at work today for the first time. Taking it super duper easy!

Pain is pretty minimal. Just on one side. Last night I must have tossed around too much because I kept waking up with a little pain.

Weirdest thing since surgery are these floaters that are like migraine auras. They come and go. I wonder if its related to my drop in estrogen from the removal of my ovaries. I am on HRT, but of course it won't match my previous hormone levels.

Strange.

Slg, good to hear you are healing! when I went through my forced menopause from the chemotherapy, I got a couple of those halo migraines too, I had only had one before when I had started going through the early stage of menopause. I have not had one in a long time now, so I guess your body is just adjusting to the different hormone levels.
diana, glad to read you are doing better every day! and no, being backed up or the other way does not have to be part of the package! ask for some help because that's a pretty easy one to fix :)
LMP.... glad things are working their way through for your ds2. a summer of working for nothing is not the worst thing that could happen! pretty exciting you can do another trip in October!! any pictures available from this trip?
GAGWTA and hope all my American friends have a good memorial day weekend!

Sorry I have been MIA for so long, but I've had a rough time for the past two months. I had to make a trip to the emergency room two months ago because of bleeding (can't say where on here). Turns out one of the tumors was pushing through the wall causing the bleeding. Had to go to the gyno for a temporary fix and then sent to the radiologist for more radiation to shrink the tumor. Was supposed to have 14 treatments but only made it through 8. Too many issues with vomiting and diarrhea and I was just too weak to continue. In the midst of this, I also had to have a drain tube inserted into my left kidney because it was becoming enlarged and the kidney doc said it was necessary to avoid renal failure. I was also put on oxygen 24/7 a week ago to help me with the shortness of breath issues I've been dealing with for the past few months. It's helping a little bit.

I have lost even more weight, but am starting to be able to keep down some food other than jello. I had chemo yesterday, which was postponed from a week ago because I wasn't strong enough then. I also had a blood transfusion yesterday after chemo.

I haven't been on the computer much, but I wanted to update you before the effects of this chemo start to hit. I will try to keep you in the loop a little more often in the future.

Lisa, I am glad you were able to post but so very sorry to hear what a difficult time you have been having. I hope this round of chemo treats you better and that you can continue to be able to eat a bit.

MaryAnn, I am glad your youngest DS has a plan with nursing school. As for your middle DS, hoping everything is resolved. Consequences like the unpaid work may prove to be the wake up call he needs.

Hoping Slg and Dancind are on the road to healing. You sure have been getting good support here. Aren't our ladies here wonderful.

I am trying to recover from grad weekend. I was cooking almost to the time we pulled out to go to NOLA. That was a late night and we had to start early the next morning for the 9 am ceremony. It was a lovely grad ceremony particularly the universal one at 9 am, the renovated dome was ideal for this event. Friends and family were seated on the plaza level so we had a great vantage point for watching the proceedings. Wonderful 10 piece jazz band, excellent sound system, and acoustics. They even had fireworks, confetti and beach balls at the end.

Our family and my friend who hosted us at her house and her significant other met DD21's boyfriends family at a great new Italian restaurant. His family is wonderful and we had a chance to break the ice by sharing appetizers through dessert (we passed some dishes around to sample). Perfect way to bond. Sunday the party was great. Getting everything ready was hectic as at the last minute my mother needed a ride to NOLA since my sister had a 24 hour virus and could not bring her. DS23 picked her up but of course he had a flat tire. After the drama though it ended up being a glorious day as all of DH's siblings attended and were able to be with his mom. Having everyone together has not happened in many years.

The slideshow was a huge hit. DD21 was surprised and embarrassed but she handled it well. She was amazed at how much work had gone into it. Labor of love.

Turns out she is moving to NJ and will be using her boyfriend's house as a base to look for a position in NYC while doing her internship by telecommuting.
Her boyfriend's mother and I hit it off very well, and although I was shaken when DD21 told me these plans the week before the party, talking about it with the other mom helped. She shared her story of her early days with her DH when he was in medical school in a foreign country. We expect for DD21 and her son to have a rough road ahead as well depending on what happens the next year or two. They certainly seem deeply in love.

It would just be easier for me if NJ was not quite so far away. However, they are located 30 minutes out of Manhattan, and working there is DD21's dream. She is also fortunate to have my brother Tom living there. He already planning to treat her to a Broadway play.

I have pictures to post but it will have to wait as today DH is driving back to NOLA with a truck to bring her bedroom furniture and belongings home. I plan to make a nice meal and then I need to get ready for our wdw trip.

Busy here.

GAGWTA!!!

Lisa - so happy to see you posting, but so sorry to hear tht you are having such a rough go of things. I hope you can continue with the chemo and hope the blood transfusion helps too. Good to hear you are finding some things to eat that agree with you. Hope the oxygen helps a bit too. I did try to find Meg, hmm, another one of my Kim Impossible Missions:) Continued prayers for you sista

Laurie - so glad to hear the graduation turned out so wonderful. But I am sure you were shocked to hear about dd moving. But it does sound like the perfect location to look for a business job in the city. I tried to talk ds24 into looking for a job in the city, but he doesnt want the 2 hour train commute etc. Are they living with his parents? That would help save on expenses for sure.

smiley - I dont know how to post a picture, but I am going to ask Tuffcookie (Cindy) to post the picture her beau took of us.

All the ds are working right now, yeah for peace and quiet. Its sunny here today for a change. I cant believe that soon I will have to make the November adrs. I think in a day or two?? Better get a move on it!

Dh said yes to the food and wine, so I better get a move on that too. I am married to Prince charming for sure!

GAGWTA. have a great day everyone.

Yes, good question, MaryAnn, they will be living with her boyfriend's parents, in fact I think it may have been her idea, as of course they have no money.

I think it was very generous of his parents. She knows the difficulties they face. It will take a strong relationship. Getting to know each other better before jumping into marriage is wise, especially with the whole med school looming.

Great that you are going to go to Food and Wine, MaryAnn. i had a blast year year, especially since I got to spend time with Sha and her mom.

I hope I get to go this year but who knows? Where are you staying?
