Dis Breast Cancer Survivors Part IV - GAGWTA

DD20 and I were able to meet up with LMP and her family last night at the studios. They are also staying at the Swan in the west wing. Easy to meet up which we did again today. Took pictures in front of the giant chocolate Santa and the chocolate tree. I am in love with the Swan resort although I have to say I am missing my boardwalk view at the boardwalk. Christmas lights and decorations wonderful throughout the world. Dinner our first night at California grill so we were able to see wishes from their viewing area outside. Atmosphere everywhere lovely. Different vibe at Christmas. More later.

Oh so exciting!! I am dead jealous!! but in a good way! :)

DD and I really enjoyed our pre Christmas trip. I did a lot of pretrip research to find restaurant offerings she could eat (vegan) so we tried new places, including Skipper Canteen at MK the day after it was open, Trails End at Fort Wilderness, and Coral Reef. We also went to the restaurants we have had success at before. Lots of rides and we started our day late most days so we could relax and sleep in. I made the fastpass times mid day, so somehow it just all worked.

It seems we scheduled the trip early enough so we avoided the massive crowds after grammar schools and high schools dismissed school, although there was still plenty of people. The Osbourne lights seemed to be a big draw. We saw lots of fireworks, wishes on the Cali Grill viewing platform, Illuminations twice from different sides of the lake. They added a special Christmas part to the end of Illuminations that added a lot of beautiful words and high and lovely fireworks. We actually were also able to see special fireworks from our balcony around 1 am Thursday am from the special star wars event at the Studios.

All around a special trip, made more so by getting together with LMP and her family. Mostly we got together in the morning at a certain sitting area in the lobby. So much easier to get together when staying at the same resort! I got to meet her very sweet DS, and they got to meet my DD20, when she wasn't sleeping in!

Home now, did a marathon getting the house ready for Christmas weekend. DH got all the net lights out, DD20 helped me put out my special nativity scene that my motherinlaw hand made for me in 1984. Work today through Wednesday, although I go in late today to take delivery I bought a few weeks ago of a new swivel chair for the living room and bench for our bedroom. My brother Tom and my DD25 arrive Christmas day, and I have all the food ordered (I am only cooking vegan things for DD20, and making a couple of salads to add to a turducken and lots of sides).

Hope everyone enjoys these last days before the big day.

Yes, Laurie said it beautifully that you were all in our hearts.

It was fun seeing Laurie and her dd. The weather was great for the most part. Jealous of you Peg, that you get to be there all the time!! Hope your leg and foot are healing.

Ds3 ran us ragged. Dh and I said we do like 1/3 of all the stuff we did with him. He did complain about the meals I picked but he ate the food because he was hungry. I got sick the last night again with the stomach stuff so we watched the star wars fireworks from our room, awesome!! We managed to see all the fireworks and parades, MVMCP was fun but pretty crowded and we bought the candlelight pkg. and saw Meredith Viera and I got the dreaded pole position in the wheelchair section but ds turned my wheelchair left because of my neck so I could see.

Last night we had pizza and went to see the Star Wars movie for ds1 b day. It was the only night ds3 was not working lately. And now I just volunteered to cook stuff for ds3 to take tomm. night for dinner for the nurses. I will just double everything and divide it for him, simple sausage and pasta with spinach and ricotta dish. It looks christmasy - red and green!! They said bring anything.

Minky - I hope you are getting through the treatments. I know it is hard on you but hang in there! You are strong and can do this!!

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas (For those who celebrate) and Blessed New Year!!

I just wanted to stop by and wish everyone here Merry Christmas. I know how hectic things are at this time of year. It seems I have less and less time to stop by, but you are all in my thoughts!

I saw my oncologist and all is well! I can't ask for better than that! Hope all have a great holiday with your families and friends!

Merry Christmas!

Good news! DD25 actually made the flight that she and my brother are on. She has been known to miss early flights, sad to say, so I have been on pins and needles wondering. My brother texted me a few minutes ago that they were sitting together (don't know how that happened because I booked her flight 2 months after he secured his).

So I can relax now, knowing they will be here soon.

Merry Christmas, all!

I saw your thread title and am jumping in here. I had a core biopsy on Dec. 23rd and will get results Monday.

It is a mass in my left breast. The radiologist told me it has to come out even if it is benign.

Merry Christmas to all of you! :wave2:

Hang in there TMM! (I was going to say look what the cat dragged in but I didn't want to be insulting LOL! :rotfl2: )

LOL... Thanks Pea.....:flower1:

Well just got the call and I have DCIS and IDC. Yuck.

I will elect to get the double mastectomy.

Now who should do it?

Sorry to hear your diagnosis, TMM.

Are there any surgeons in your area that are breast cancer specialists? My GYN referred me to one, and I got a second opinion as well. Also, do you have any friends or acquaintances that can give recommendations? If you know any nurses? They tend to have good input.

Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

We have Siteman Cancer Center here in St. Louis which is one hospital chain.

My GYN is connected with one hospital chain so of course she recommends that and where I got the mamm/bio, is at the other chain and they are recommending their surgeons.

I don't really know anyone who has had it personally so have to go on second hand info there.

Thanks Pea. I will keep you in the loop.

I'm sorry to hear that. Minkydog was here with us recently, also. I think she is still in treatment. Well, we're here with you. Someone is almost always around if you need to talk. PM anytime, also. We are very fortunate today to have early detection and great treament options. It's no longer a death sentence, it's more like a bump in the road. Granted, a big bump. But generally do-able. Let us know how we can help.

Yes, feel free to ask questions here or pm me as well. I also had widespread DCIS and a small area of invasive ductal carcinoma, mastectomy on the affected breast in 2004 along with node removal, free tram flap reconstruction in 2006.

I agree with Pea N Me, treatment options are very good these days.
