Good morning ladies

Nota - Keep fighting tough sista!! Sending you a

Laurie - Hope all is well, havent seen you post in a while

KJ - Is the roof done yet?

Fl Lisa - I am sure you are having nice weather, hmm, next month I will be there to check it out!!

Well dh surgery went as well as it could yest. I think the actual surgery was about 30 minutes. Dh decides, without me knowing about it, that he is going to participate in the drs. research project. The research nurse comes out and give me a folder for dh to complete post op and in the next few weeks. Umm, later the dr. comes out and I ask him which procedure he has used on dh.He says, I cannot tell you:scared1:. Because that is part of the study and it would influence him and give him an opinion etc. O.K. He will see dh in the office on monday. Already I am having to give dh percocet every 4 hours, he never even makes it to 6. And lucky us..we scored the last sitz bath at the pharmacy. Sorry, poor mom who just gave birth etc. My neighbor who works there got it for me and I was lst in line etc. She said how much weight I lost, yea, I know etc. Told her the cancer is still in remission.

Dh was a little loopy and asked what the nurse was doing. I told him, she is flushing your iv right now. She asks me "Are you a nurse?":rotfl2:. I said no. I am always a patient though. I thought to myself, umm, hows many iv flushes have I had last year??:)Dh also has some big shot boss at works wife start his iv. They didnt let me come back at lst pre op, so I didnt even talk to anyone, just kissed him goodbye. Ds 18 went with us. He gets a call from the college I worked at. They will give him a $28K scholarship, nice but its still $64K at least. He also gets the waitlist letter for the state univ, sigh, sigh.

Made a lot of adrs, lets just say we will be eating really well. The only thing I wanted and couldnt get was le cellier, heah its nice to dream, right?

GTAGWTA. Have a great week end everyone.

Howdy-

Had an allergic reaction to taxol yesterday. it was minor but they now give it to me REALLY slow. Couldn't breathe (boy was that scary!) and my face turned beet red.

glad to hear everyone else is doing well.

lmp-I did the two years in jr. then went to state college-it will give ds a great chance to pull his GPA up and get those nasty pre-regs all gone!

GAGWTA ya all.

LMP - I hope your husband is doing well and recovery quickly, or as quickly as both you and he would like.

Notatourist - I'm sorry about your reaction to taxol. I had an allergic reaction to taxotere - my chest got tight, my breathing was shallow and tough, my face was really red and I could speak coherently (or at least less so than normal :lmao:). I wanted them to slow down the trip during the second treatment but they said it should be fine - NOPE - worse the second time with other symptons. Finally the third time they agreed to slow it down from the get go and all was well. I hope the next time goes well for you too. Slowing down those drips might seem like it's going to take longer but it really doesn't and then you don't have to go through those reactions. Wish you well.

Roof project should be done Monday. We've had a lot of rain here so it's been slow. My husband came home from work last night, saw the platters of food and "Oh boy, leftovers". I said "No - you've seen these guys eat, there's not going to be anything on the plates to be left over" and there wasn't. Wouldn't want to feed a construction crew on a regular basis :scared1: But they are a great group of guys and it's been fun having them here. It's also taken my mind off losing my golden since we had to put him down the first day they were here.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

GAGWTA.

KJ - Hope your roof is done on time. I remember when we had ours done after the twin hurricanes of 2004. You'll be so happy when it's finished.

Notatourist - I think one out of every two patients has a bad reaction to the Taxol/Taxotere. I also had a reaction to the Taxotere twice. After the second time, I started controlling the drip. It took over two hours for that bag, but I didn't have any more reactions. Hang in there!

LMP - I hope your DH's recover goes well. It must be hard not being able to ask questions because of the research project. We have been having great weather here all week, but the temps are supposed to drop about 5 degrees this weekend and the rain will be coming back. Just when the pool was about warm enough to swim in, too. :sad2: I'm not surprised that you couldn't get Le Cellier - it's almost impossible to get ADRs there anymore. You might want to try a walk in. If you go right when they open for lunch or between 4:20 and 5 pm you can sometimes get seated.

Had my Herceptin infusion today. The first nurse had trouble accessing my port, but the second nurse did okay with it. I'm done with week 3 of the radiation, 3 more to go. . .

I'm sitting here at work thinking - I just have to post. I just got back to work (well a couple of hours ago :surfweb:) from my last radiation treatment . I can't stop smiling :). I knew I would be relieved and happy but I feel on top of the world right now. I know the fatigue will set it this afternoon when I finish cooking for the roofers after work, but right now :yay:.

There's more to come but that's okay. I hope everyone has a great day.

LMP - I hope you feel better soon and that the illness is nothing too serious.

GAGWTA.

YEA!!!!! So happy you are finished with rads! I know how amazing that feels and I am really REALLY glad you are done!!!:thumbsup2:cool1::banana::worship:

Same thing happened to me! What was weird about it was that it was my last taxol treatment (my sixth..I had TAC chemo!). I finished but they got really nervous in the chemo lab that day. They watched me like a hawk and slowed it down too. Glad you are ok! GAGWTA!

Just want to say good morning from the Boardwalk. Weather is gorgeous. Going to meet with others for a Celebrations magazine meet. I get here and I don't feel depressed. Truly my happy place. Working on a project when I get back for a friend's birthday. That too has helped. And the upcoming trip in May and all that planning.

JSG.. I sent you a text picture of the castle last night, in case you didnt know who it was.

Way to go, KJ! Congrats on finishing rads!

Lisa, hang in there, now you are on the home stretch.

LMP, hope your DH is recovering.

Hope your sons are helping out!

Great scholarship for your son!

Sha, gosh I wish I was on the boardwalk with you. I bet the weather is flawless. Nice here too. Best spring I have seen here, after the coldest winter. allergies worst ever because the trees have an inordinate of pollen. Most blooms ever on the azalias, etc, never had them stay this long either. If it could only stay like this through say um September maybe???

Sha what are your plans for the day? I need to live vicariously I guess. Have a great time, lady.

We were supposed to go to the French quarter Fest in N.O. today but with the track meet today out of town and the required youth group San Antonio trip meeting tomorrow, and my general tiredness, we may just wait and go down for Jazz festival later in the month.

Also yesterday we received two 2 invites to an engagement party and a 25th anniversary party in New Orleans all in april and early May, not to mention a retirement party for one of our board members next weekend.

Too much social stuff when I don't have time due to DD14's graduation stuff.

I need to get some energy quick. DH bailed me out twice this week so I did not have to pick up late after track practice. I am lucky.

No real plans. Going to a meet at AKV. Moving slow this morning.... mom is with me. Want to go and see my tigers though ;) :goodvibes:goodvibes love seeing them!

Tell your mom hi for me.

You staying at the BW? If so, how are the redone rooms?

Great day to go to AK with this weather. I bet those animals are loving it.

Still a lot of spring break folks?

GAGWTA, Ladies! :goodvibes

Sha, my phone isn't showing any received text messages/photos. :confused3 Thank you for thinking of me, though!! :thumbsup2 Enjoy your day! We are just under 8 weeks away from our trip!

Yes, at least I think I stayed in the redone rooms. There was more room without the table in front of the couch. Flatpanel TV and different dresser/stand. Was nice. Great view above the boardwalk. Weather was wonderful. Really helped my spirits. The tigers were enjoying it. With mom, we do very little. We saw the kitties. Got some good shots I think.

Well, was worth a shot. Youre welcome.

Glad to hear the trip is doing its magic.

You are so good to your mom. I could only wish my kids treat me as you do your mom one day. Can I please adopt you?????

Feeling my age over here. I actually thought about having grandchildren today for a moment. OMG!!!! I was telling DH we could do studios pretty soon when it is just the two of us, unless of course we had GRANDCHILDREN!!

LOL sure Laurie... I mean Mom... wait... nah... just be my sister! ;)

wow! grandkids? sure you dont want them to have pets first? And yes, studios are nice. Fewer points too (normally) and therefore more trips.

Sha, post the "kittie" pictures if you can. Your photos, like Linda's and Elizabeth's DH's, are so wonderful.

Headed home today? I hope the rest of your day was nice.

Sometimes it benefits all to take it slowly. Gosh your mom is blessed.

Thanks for the cyber hug, Maureen. Wisely, I skipped the track meet. Don't you know DD14 came in 2nd in the triple jump and third in the long jump!! At least DH was there.

Not sleeping well I think is the source of my low energy feeling. I was wide awake at midnight last night dreaming about getting a middle of the night call from the police about DD19. It was just a dream, but I never could go back to sleep. She and her boyfriend went to french quarter festival yesterday and his car was towed (she had parked it in a "convenient" place).:confused3

I guess my dream was sparked by that story.

Ah well, having kids an sharing in their learning experiences can sure put miles on us. They should come with a warning tag on their big toes.

How are you ladies in treatment, who have the real issues, not the whiny stuff I am posting about?

Linda, how is the team doing?

Sha I guess we were posting at the same time.

Sure you can be my little sister. Can I claim your mom too?

Yes, DD19 has a doggie she adopted, who lives with us. I hope that is not indicative of what the future holds.

She is going to share an apartment with two girlfriends next sememster just off campus. She wants the doggie to go down with her. The doggie is a high maintenance one, I don't think she gets how much of a responsibility it would be. Should I just let go and let her learn the lesson? I don't want to see the dog run away. She needs to be walked alot and DD19 is very busy.

It does not seem right for me to let the dogbe at risk. What do y'all think? I am conflicted and will have to decide by June.

Come on, Sha. You get more tiger pictures and there'll be no ribbons left for any of the rest of us in the photo contests. ;) (Sha's tiger pics are amazing!) So glad you're at your happy place and having a wonderful time.

I never had an allergic reaction to taxol but on the day I was having my last AC, right before I was to start taxol, I heard a "code" in the treatment room beside me where someone else was having an allergic reaction to taxol. I remember feeling so sad for that person and scared for myself. :guilty: My chemo nurse knew me pretty well by that point and she told me (directedly, as in finger pointing and all, ha) not to worry. IIR they gave me a mega dose of steroids (to prevent an allergic response, which later kept me awake for days and days and days, lol) and ran it fairly slowly. I was meditating like crazy :lmao: trying to keep my mind off being afraid. Hang in there notatourist. How are you doing otherwise? Are you feeling ok?

Laurie, my son's team is doing great, thanks for asking. They're not winning them all, but they're winning some (3/4 so far), and they're working really well as a team and having lots of fun, so you can't ask for more than that. We, the parents and families, have a lot of fun also. Today we're having a cookout after practice. Weather here is tricky. It's freezing cold but my face got completely sunburned yesterday. You forget this time of year that you still need to protect your skin. As for the dog, tough call. I'm not sure. I guess I'd go by where the dog will be best off and hope my DD saw it that way, too.

Maureen, any doggies pics? How are the two doing together?

GAGWTA

Came home last night. We go back together next weekend after I have a photo class. My sister may come and get mom from where I am and go down early. I am back there next weekend after that with friends.

Sure you can adopt mom too! She has many many children and looks well for it! LOL she has more kids than that show 19 kids and counting.

Thank you Linda! I love that pic myself. I am hoping that this one of them stretching will do as well. I cant help that I love taking pictures of the tigers. I will work on them. Am in the middle of another project which I am getting ready to work on for today. hope to finish it even. Cant post anything here though. Someone on the boards might find out. Afterwards I can show.

Laurie - Grandkids? Are you nuts? You're too young! I love your track stories. My DD, Meg, who is now at UCF did track for three years - discus and shotput. February - May it seemed as though every Saturday we were at a track meet somewhere between Miami and Sebastian. I'm actually thankful DS didn't go out for track as he had earlier threatened to.

Sha - I'm glad you had a nice trip to the Mouse House. Our February trip was entirely too short and I'm anxious to get back there.

I finally got brave yesterday and went in the pool. I've been testing the water for the past three weeks and decided it was time to go in. It was a bit cooler than I would like, but I managed to swim laps for 30 minutes before I ran out of energy. Figures it is overcast today and the temps are not going to be above 77 the rest of the week. I'm determined to make this a daily exercise so I can get back into shape!
