Hope the skies clear soon, KJ.

Glad for no leaks! it sounds like you will have a top notch roof when it is finished.

I am baking chicken now, alter it will be a roast. I know exactly what you mean about constantly cooking.

Hard part is also making the food that will be healthy for DH.

I got happy feet. . . just made a reservation at Cali Grill for May 21st.

Yippee!!!!

Laurie - we were thinking of eating at Narcooses that day! It will be a very special day for dh and I, hmm, wonder why:love:

Maybe I should make the reservations too. If we dont hear about the gift card by Mon. I guess we can cancel.

Well can anything go right around here lately, I dont think so.

Off to look at the research for ds health plan. I told him to photocopy his license at work and they want pay stubs too. I only found 1 lately. He is blessed because he couldnt even get this insurance if as a student he didnt have a part time job or work study etc. Thank you NY state.

Took a walk to the mailbox and what does ds18 get, but paperwork from the county college. Its only about the classes he is taking in high school etc.

Dh is not feeling well, thursday cant come fast enough. I told him to just keep taking tylenol etc.

Anniversary, maybe?

I am doing the Cali Grill again, I know I just went but I just love that sushi, the ravioli appetizer and now a new dish, the pork and polenta my brother picked when we were just there. I doubt we will end up in the wine room with 2 14 year olds.

Is Narcoosse mostly seafood? We reserve our seafood for when we are in Louisiana as we have our favorites here and nothing seems to measure up.

I should muster up a batch of crayfish ettouffee and freeze it, expecially if we drive over. Easy to serve that in the kitchens in these villas.

What do you say, LMP, you up for crawfish?

Ok we got to get together then, not that night, but another time. It looks like we will be in Orlando May 18-27. We are at the Boardwalk from the 23rd, that Sunday. Probably cruise over there early and get a good room assignment. it is a 5 minute drive from the Wyndham Bonnet Creek. I actually think you could walk there at some risk though since no sidewalks exist.

The flight sales are not coming, we may have to drive.

I have been having trouble posting again ...lost a long one last night

KJ--- my heart goes out to you with the loss of your beloved dog. Our Linda (Pea-n-me) also lost a beloved dog while in treatment. I can only imagine how the grief is intensified while your emotions are in turmoil anyway. Know that our thoughts are with you.
After 2 weeks without our Tasha kitty, it is still so new and raw. Just random things bring such a pang of sadness.....DH bought me a potted hydrangea (I'd been wanting one for awhile) and a pot of daffodils earlier this week as a surprise, he had them on the coffee table when I got home from work. And my immediate reaction (after the big hug and kiss for my dear DH) was: "oh my, these need to be put up high on the mantle or out on the porch so Tasha doesn't get at them" as we could not have plants or flowers on the coffee table, dining table or end tables....she'd jump up and nibble and knock them over. Then remembering Tasha isn't going to get at them. :sad1:

LMP...I am sorry about your DSs college news. 6 years ago my DD did not get in her first choice of college, and in the end it was for the best for a variety of reasons, even she realized that within a couple of years. But it is never easy to be "rejected". She does not have any exciting news this year on the grad school apps either....of 4 applications she is waitlisted on 2, rejected by 1, and no word yet on the 4th. Her GREs (the grad school equivalent of SAT/ACT) were mediocre. So despite stellar undergrad grades, glowing recommendations and 1-2 years paraprofessional experience in her chosen field....it is what it is in this economy and job market and the limited slots in the programs for her field. Her Plan B is, if it doesn't work out for the fall, she will keep her current job, take a GRE prep course and try again next year. Still is troubling when it is not smooth sailing for our kids. I keep hearing my mother's voice saying "all things happen for a reason" and my father's voice saying "it will all work out"... and hope all our kiddos will keep their chins up and persevere, and know they will survive the bumps in the road and persevere.

We had a delightful day today, visiting my siser over near the coast, and looking forward to Easter with Avery and family tomorrow. The weather was amazing warm and sunny today and is expected t be so for the next few days. Quite a welcome change from dismal endless rain. We were very lucky locally, no flooding, but there was severe flooding/damage in widespread areas to the south and east and other localized issues.

PatsMom... THANK YOU! Wave as you pass through Concord!!!

I am planning a July long weekend in my happy place.....solo, meeting up with some friends.

GAGWTA ladies!! Easter blessings to you and yours.

I have been reading all of your posts but haven't had a chance to post myself.
I think about all of you every day when I read about what is happening in your lives and know that Laurie is making her famous etouffee!

On this Easter Eve, I wish all of you a very Happy Easter and a spring filled with hope, courage, sunshine and smiles where there are tears. Take care everyone because hopefully "this too shall pass." Hugs, Barbara

lmp, I'm sorry your DS didn't get into the school of his choice. Would you give him a message for me? Tell him that when one door closes another one opens. This has happened to me so many times in my life, it's not funny. But things have always worked out pretty well so I believe that (I'll echo Ann's Mom) things really do happen for a reason and you never know what that'll be looking forward. Maybe he'll meet his future wife or best friend at this school. Or he'll find the profession he was absolutely meant to have. At any rate, tell him to walk into that school with his head up high and to be the absolute best student that school has ever seen. Blow em away.

My kids and I have these types of discussions a lot. I work with a boy who's one of the Lost Boys of Sudan. (Google it if you've never heard of it, very interesting.) Anyway, he knows my kids and believe it or not, they've gotten some really great life lessons from him. He told my kids he learned to write his alphabet with a stick in the dirt as that was the only thing he had available in the refugee camp he grew up in - alone, without his family. :sad1: He said in his village (which he's since reconnected with), they don't have money for schools, so the children sit around all day under trees with nothing to do. We are so fortunate to have what we have. So it isn't ivy league. So what. He has the opportunity to work hard and get a wonderful education regardless of where he goes. I hope he seizes the opportunity and makes the best of the opportunity he has in front of him. :thumbsup2

Wishing you all a beautiful Easter, friends. :grouphug:

PS my DS had his season opener yesterday and they won both games. They are playing really well as a team and I was happy for all of them. They've worked so hard all winter.

Linda, I really agree with your post! We are so fortunate in this country and we have limitless opportunities. I believe that there are some problems that get in the way sometimes but overall we are very blessed here!

I saw a movie on the Lost Boys and was so inspired. The heartache and sadness that they overcame is unreal! My mother's family lived in a communist country when I was little (East Germany) and I saw first hand during visits how little freedom they had back then.

Happy Easter and I hope all who celebrated Passover earlier this week had a nice holiday with family!!:grouphug:

I turned 49 on Friday and I must say that it was a bittersweet birthday. I was happy because ANY birthdays after cancer is a victory but sad because I miss my mom so much...

I am planning a trip to WDW in July with my cousin as I have posted before and am getting really excited! I think we will stick to the waterparks and pools during the day, then nap, then have an early dinner and hit the parks in the evening when it is cooler. I have never gone to WDW in the summer but with my one side that had lymph node surgery I have to be really careful about avoiding any swelling.

GAGWTA!!!!!

Love the quotes from your parents, Ann. let's hear it for Plan B!!!:cheer2:
Have a nice holiday with Avery and his family.

Sage words, Linda and Maureen.

You guys always find the right words to say.

Lovely post, Barbara.

Congrats to your son and his team, Linda.

Happy birthday, Maureen.

You will be fine with a summer trip. Hitting the water parks during the day and parks during the evenings only really works in the summer when the parks are open late. Excellent plan.

We are going swimming at my sisters today. . .heated pool. My stuffed artichokes came out delicious my kids say, I believe I was heavy handed with the cayenne.

My mother's 80th birthday is this July. My sister and her husband are digitalizing all her pictures and as a surprise to go with that, my sister is going to film an interview with each of us privately today talking about a special remembrance of mom , funnly story etc.

My sister is the creative soul of the family. We will have ltos of music too I am sure.

Had my whole family together for mass today. It was a treasure.

We got some possible good news about DD19 and school this week. I'll share when it is definite.

Have a lovely day, all my GAGWTA friends and family.

Laurie

Good morning ladies

Thanks for all the encouraging words for ds

Maureen - :cake::bday: Happy Birthday! The only thing we do at the water parks is the lazy rivers. I am not the adventourus slide type person. I am sure it will be refreshing in the heat

Laurie - glad you enjoyed your family celebration. The surprise for your moms birthday sounds great.

Linda - Great news about your ds team!! Thought of you when I was watching the Red Sox/Yankees game yest! And funny you should mention the lost boys. ds20 had to read a book by one of them for his freshman english seminar. I think it was God Grew Tired of Us? and the author was the keynote speaker at the university. Ds eyes and heart were opened for sure.

Hope you all had a happy easter. Well ds20 little emily went with us to church. I am sure it was a different worship experience for her for sure. I did ask ds to see what she thought of it. I made brunch for lunch and then the big dinner. Oh, did I mention I am sick, sick, sick. I think I might have a fever. I am trying to stay away from dh before the surgery. Ds18 is not feeling well either

Ds 18 is working on his Plan B. He did apply to the college I used to work at and where ds22 goes. I know he will get in, they NEED students there. It would just be the financial aid stuff. Its like $64K for 4 years. He would do therapuetic recreation. Its more like doing programs in nursing homes etc, maybe a bio major and I did see the recreation has an almost 100% placement rate so that is good.

Also I know he expressed his fear about the community college. I knew he was t hinking along this line..that it wont be challenging enough for him. I think it has that reputation, but he did see the state univ. will totally accept the program they put him in, just liberal arts stuff which ds20 is doing at the state univ. now anyway. I told him, then good you will get a high gpa etc.

And adding to the misery loves company theme, ds18 found out his friend is also wait listed, they have the same gpa basically and he is of a demographic I am sure the college would choose over my ds. So it appears they are full of that demographic too. I did ask him what his friends Plan B was etc.

Well they are suppose to call today about the disney gift card..we will see.

GTAGWTA. Its suppose to be 85 here tomm. A new record, amazing!!

I'm sitting here at work thinking - I just have to post. I just got back to work (well a couple of hours ago :surfweb:) from my last radiation treatment . I can't stop smiling :). I knew I would be relieved and happy but I feel on top of the world right now. I know the fatigue will set it this afternoon when I finish cooking for the roofers after work, but right now :yay:.

There's more to come but that's okay. I hope everyone has a great day.

LMP - I hope you feel better soon and that the illness is nothing too serious.

KJ - Way to go sista!!:cool1::thumbsup2 We are cyber celebrating with you!!

Oh and in the lets add insult to injury dept. ds just called the county college. He says I never told him there was a phone call from them weeks ago. Um, yes I did, I told him we would pay for him to register for the classes just so he had good picks and times etc.

Well he just gets off the phone, they give him the date of May 25th. I said You cant do that , its your class trip. So he has to call back next week as the computer only does 1 week at a time, hmm, April 5th and now we are looking at the week of June lst. I am sorry, I guess I just had to give ds a reality check. I said, just face it, now your lst semester is going to stink. And ds20 added a little salt to the wound, I was not expecting that, I just wanted him to have a reality check, he says oh Julie xx is registering for classes this week. I think she goes to school with ds, sigh, sigh.

And also in the paper yest. was a article about the community college, it actually has 3 campuses, the main one being closest to our home in the next town. They said the parking lot is too overcroweded, so to aleviate this situation, some classes start at 6:15 AM:scared1:, ds was not happy, and some classes end at 10:30 PM, needless to say ds is beside himself again. This is so not going well.

KJ - I'm so happy for you!:cool1: Looking forward to that milestone myself.

Good morning ladies

Lisa - when you reach that milestone we will cyber celebrate with you too sista:)

I am tired. I stayed up till like 2:30 typing for dh. Of course his wonderful boss, who always is so mean to dh, went to chicago to visit his wife. In the meantime he dumps work on dh that was his knowing dh has to lose 2 days of work this week due to the surgery and is rushing his own work etc. I will just be so glad when dh goes to the new boss.

Today is dh pre op. He says he is feeling like he got some of what I have but doesnt want to tell them. He says there is no way he is cancelling the surgery, he cant, he leaves to go around the world in 8 days.

Well the aa vacations never called. I cant call them since its dh account. I will research a Plan B. Which presently I am thinking to ask them just to cancel it, give us back our miles, which I will save for december and they will hopefully have free dining again then too and then I will look at just a room with the discount booking through disney directly.. I really didnt want the Poly, so maybe disney has a different choice, I would rather have Yacht or Beach etc. I know the booking agent told dh we would have no penalty if we cancelled within 5 days. I feel like its their mistake and they are not trying to make it right, I think they could knock off the money on the trip if they cant get us the gift card etc, but doubt they will etc. And we want to make sure they put back the 200K ff miles in dh ff acct.

And in the Does God have a sense of humor or what dept. Last night at the grocery store in the deli line I spot a girl with a state univ. sweatshirt on that says physical therapy. hmm, nothing like a wake up call. I felt sick after that, thinking of ds. So I am trying to get over not feel guilty, not butting in and letting ds learn from his own mistakes etc. Ds 22 did drop his application off at the college. I know he will get in, no problem, its just what major, nothing really too good. Decisions, decisions.

GTAGWTA.

Good morning ladies:flower::beach: Its going to be 85 and record setting here possibly

Dh pre op went well. He has great bp, wow, wish mine was like his. They were concerned about an issue he has. I said, yeah we know about it, its normal for him, so they had to do a consult with the attending dr. to get him through, so that was good. We see one of the np's I like there. She asked if I was having surgery again:), I said, no, dh is. Also our anesthesiologist reviewer was the last girl I had. She remembered me. I just love her island accent and she is so sweet and nice. I told her thanks for taking care of me etc. They said dh surgery will be about 30 actual minutes.

Ds22 starts a new basketball coaching job today. I think its 2 days after school and some saturdays. Its an aau league. On the bad side, he hasnt heard back from his internship which they said they would let him work part time for pay now etc. This is not a good sign. I told him to go to the job fair at the college soon etc.

Ds 18 called the community college to ask some questions. The lady said..oh you have such good sats etc. Hmm, this worries me as I know the academic standards there are probably not challenging enough for ds etc. Oh well, I told him he will get a good gpa. His hs teacher for pre calculus also teaches classes there. He is getting the dual enrollment credit for that class now anyway. I am thinking this week ds will get the letter that he wont be getting the scholarship romr dh work, this will not be good either.

We got an e mail that says disney approved the gift card, hmm, I am still reserved since the e mail is from aa vacations and not directly from disney. So I guess the vacation is a go dh said, time to make the adrs!:)

GTAGWTA. Hope you are all well. Have a great day.

Hey everyone...

I'm not going to Maryland. Turns out all the clincals require that the patient hasn't taken Avastin. Okey doke. So, I go to Chemo in town tomorrow. Whoo hoo.
