and a continuation because there will be 3 ds fighting for 1 computer tomm. Ouch!!

I noticed on our reservation for Disney that the gift card was not listed, since its through aa vacations and not disney and done with dh frequent flier miles he called again. They say, yes we should have qualified for it etc. Its not written anywhere. She has to go look up stuff and send us an e mail tomm. and all I knowis it better be there and if they cant fix it then they should credit us with $750 off the trip etc. or I might just cancel it etc. Its their mistake etc. etc Why do I have to worry about this.

Dh says he is having some side effects, hmm, I will be glad when the surgery is over.Still waiting for the pre op. I hope they call tomm. I know my latest pre op was 2 days before surgery last year, but it was an emergency etc. So I dont know what the hold up is. I just like having everything taken care of etc.

Ds is beside himself. I am trying to be encouraging etc. They said they will let the wait listed people know in June and that is only after they rank them in academic order etc. I just feel totally stressed out with everything going on right now. The blog says that last year they accepted 13.9% of waitlisted students. The problem is dh has been bad mouthing the local community college to ds for years so he feels like a failure or something he said. Thanks dh.

Quick Laurie take me to Massage Envy with you, Sha I need a ride on your boat on your trip, Linda I need cake, everyone else send me hugs, prayers, etc.

Laurie - did I ask before if you heard from Laura post op. Just wondering how her surgery went?

Its on May 15th LMP and sadly a friend just cancelled, so there is space for you.

Here is ahug for you and your DS18, LMP.

Linda, great news about your MRI! Man, the time is flying by.

Did your area flood like Rhode Island?

DS got in for spring break yesterday. I fixed up a big late of veal, mostly for him. I am so predictable! He looks so good. OMG I think he grew up this year. So calm and sweet and loving and just um together.

I can see some real progress. Yes, there is hope!

I think is on the 5 year college plan though which is not great since his scholarship is only a 4 year one. He dropped down to 12 hours this semester.
Ouch.

DD19 still working in New Orleans. We won't be together until Saturday. I am working this week anyway. I need to save my time off for our May trip.

LMP -

Well - it's a sad day here. We had to put our beloved golden retriever down. Over the past couple of days he went down hill fast and he wouldn't even eat his food and for him that was very telling. He ALWAYS ate, even when he didn't feel good. Came home from radiation and buried him. Didn't go into work today. He was my velcro dog - always had to be touching me. Even when I took a shower, he always had to stick his head in there every minute or two to make sure I was still there. He will be missed for a very long time.

GAGWTA

KJ - I am so sorry to hear about your precious dog

Laurie - Bet you are glad to see your ds. Enjoy your time with him.

Well ds is still melancholy. He did send an e mail to put his name on the wait list. He is now applying to th college that ds22 goes to and where I worked. There is a major he could do, but I dont know what employment opportunities there would be. Its called therapeutic recreation. No exactly ot etc. I know a girl from it once did the disney college program. I guess he could try it there. He could probably also have to waste a yar at the community college just trying to get into that pt asst program or one other one he wants. (exercise) Oh well. Such is life. I think he needs to talk to a counselor. as you said Lauiei, the 4 year degree will beome a 5 year one. I am sure dss 20 is gong that way too etc.

Well the airlines called us back. They are contacting the disney wholesaler etc? Said we will definetely know by monday about the gift card. They said even disney higher ups are involved an they are trying to get it for us. Gosh, I would like to know who messed up etc? Well dh said too, if we dont get it, we might not go. That was going to pay for our food etc. Still nothing about the pre op for dh. He is having some side effects so I will be glad when this is all over.

GTAGWTA, Nice weather here today.

Hi everyone and GAGWTA!

I'm sorry I haven't kept in touch, but traveling and chemo took my energy for a little while...

KJ-I am so sorry about your dog.

LMP-If you're coming to Disney, I would love to meet you in person.

And my latest news. It can be both scary and rejoceful to hear the words "no more chemo". I heard it today, because I am being refered to NCI. Does anyone know these guys? Clincal trial seems to be the way to go since clear cell carcinoma said hi to my liver and didn't leave.

Pardon my ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!

Notatourist

Glad chemo is behind you but sorry to hear of the cells in your liver. I am not aware of NCI. Need to do some research.

Sorry about your loss, KJ.

LMP, sorry your son is still down. It does sound like he is thinking about his options, and I know you will be his best ally.

KJ am sorry about you furbaby.

weather has been really nice... hoping for it to last for the upcoming Disney trips. Or just be clear on those days. Mom is going with me for 3 of them and doesnt like to be in the rain at all. :confused3

Its Good Friday... would like to get over to the church at noon but will have to see how productive I am at work. Closing the office early.

have a great day everyone.

Nice here too. Suddenly this morning the azalias decided to really let loose. My goodness they are at the peak. It is breathtaking.

My new plants are really rocking too. I bought something new I think it is delphiniums, gotta check the tag. Beautiful blue flowers. I got some color now.

DH is working non stop but we still are getting in some great family moments, particularly last night.

I wish DD19 would hurry up and get in.

Time to get cracking on my stuffed artichokes. I ordered a nice dauberge half lemon half chocolate for Sunday and we are flush with local strawberries.

What are your local favorites for the Easter season?

Good afternoon ladies

Nota - I am sorry to hear of your news. I am sure it puts a monkey wrench into everything. But keep fighting tough, I always say, never give in and never give up, never!! I dont know too much about NCI, other than they do clinical trials. When they thought I had a different typ of cancer my surgeon already told me, I will try to get you into a clinical trial etc, as that cancer doesnt respond well to either chemo or radiation. I am sure they are cutting edge and up to date with all information and procedures. My friends step mom did a clinical trial at Sloan Kettering here for her liver cancer. They said they had only tried it on monkeys before, wowsa! I wll be there May 18-23 if I dont cancel my trip due to the booking problems we have been having.

Laurie - your blooms sound beautiful! Only things are budding here, just the buds. We have to wait a while I guess.

I talked to the pre op lady finally. She said the appt. is tues, but she doesnt know the time. She said dh should call the surgeon. She thinks it might be 2:30.

We are going to church tonight. Ds still seems shocked or not wanting to face it. I told him to please call the local comm. college. He says he needs medical forms first. I dont know about that one. I said , just call. The problem is the 2 programs he wants are probably both full, so he has been boxed into a corner through no fault of his own, except for the late application for the one. The other 1 didnt have a deadline. So I told him please talk to a counselor to give himself the best chance of getting into the state univ. and being happy with the classes now etc. Its getting my head spiinnng etc.

GTAGWTA.

Good afternoon ladies. I am blessed in that I am not a breast cancer survivor. I am a cervical cancer survivor of many years. But in the past two years I have been following your threads because it seems I have been surrounded by breast cancer. My very good friend Cindy was first. She is now a two time survivor who has undergone a double mastectomy. My best friend Sue, Cindy's sister, was very vigilant in her mammograms, especially after Cindy was diagnosed. Her cancer was caught early and she opted for a mastectomy.

Meanwhile at work, Lorraine, who was already a two time survivor, was diagnosed for the third time. After her double mastectomy she is doine well and hopes for the best. My assistant Ginny was diagnosed with a nasty type of cancer and following a mastectomy and a year of chemotherapy, is doing well.

What all of this is leading to is saying that all of you who post here will be in my thoughts this July. Sue, Cindy and I decided that we would walk in the Susan G. Komen 3 Day for the Cure as a celebration of their victory over the cancer. Their other two sisters are flying in from Florida to join us in the Boston walk. We have to additional team members, one walking in memory of her aunt and one in memory of her sister. We will be walking 60 miles in three days to raise funds for research. I want a cure to be found so my daughter will never need to know what a mammogram is!

Your stories and progress are also part of what is encouraging me to walk so I wanted to say thank you for sharing.

KJ - Sorry about your dog. I'm sure it was hard for you.

LMP - I hope DS18 feels better after he decides what his next move will be. DD got accepted at every school she applied to last year except her 1st choice. She was upset for a while, but then focused on her second choice and things got better.

Notatourtist - So sorry about your news. I hope NCI works out well for you.

Laurie - Your flowers sound as though they are breathtaking!

Second week of radiation is now a memory. DS and I just got home from seeing Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married, Too. We enjoyed it. Am now waiting for DD and her friend to pull in. They are coming home for Easter weekend!

Have a blessed Easter everyone!:goodvibes

Notatourist - so sorry to hear about your bad news

Fl Lisa - It's nice to hear that you are two weeks down. It does seem to go by fast. Monday is hopefully my last day. Then I can have my exchange surgery some 4-6 months later.

Thanks you everyone for your thoughts on my furbaby. I appreciate it very much.

Have a good weekend. We have a massive storm rolling in right now and the roofers are rushing to get the roof covered up. I just got home from work - I better run out and help them.

And part of what inspired this thread (going back to the original in 2005) and helps keep it going are stories like these. We're all pretty open books here about our cancer experiences in the interest of helping others so hearing that we sometimes, somehow made a difference makes us happy. Thank you. :flower3:

I have to say to you, PatsMom, that I loved your post and love what you and your friends are doing.

So glad you posted. We share alot, whether we are survivors, are related and or good friends of survivors.

As women we can appreciate a bond that goes very deep, as you say, especially with thinking about the ones that will come after us, our daughters, or for that matter, our sons as they too are subject to being hit with this diagnosis.

DD14 and I found the perfect graduation dress today, and we went on a whim as we were waiting for a light mint green one to come in. That dress had not come in yet, but we found a wonderful cream dress that is so soft and pretty. It has a scoop neck, very modest though, and has a nice double layer of soft ruffles.

It just fits her perfectly, like it was made for her. And it was only $68 !!!

I don't want to tell you what some of these gals pay for their dresses.

It was the first one of two she tried. It was a slam dunk.

Gosh, I think my job here is almost done. Uh oh, the shoes.

I am hoping DD19 hurries and gets here so she can help with the shoe shopping.

We bought more plants and flowers for the yard today, and I have some morning and evening pictures of the azalias.

I am going to try and talk DH into uploading them for me.

Good news: His blood work came back amazing, for both cholesterol and tryglicerides.
The strict diet and exercise regimen paid off. I am so proud of DH.

I need to be on his program.

I am doing salmon tonight. I got a late start as we were wokring in the yard. Smells good though. No shellfish, as DS21 is allergic.

Good morning ladies

Pat's mom - thanks for sharing your story with us

KJ - Glad the end is in sight!

Fl Lisa - Enjoy your family time

Laurie - Enjoy your family time too. Sounds like the dress shopping was a breeze! I like non stressful shping too!!

Well I think I just spent about the last 2 hours on the internet doing research, into what you might ask? Well since ds22 is graduating college he now goes off dh insurance family plan. So they told us to look up some NY website. So the hr dept. at work said with Obamas new Health care stuff they dont even know what is going,on, little information etc. There will be a 6 month gap until the fed. stuff supposedly kicks in. So I have found 2 plans like between $329 and $369 each a month, they are hmos too. My head is spinning.

Last night at church ds18 whispered to me, I was suppose to be singing with the duet but I told them I couldnt as I was too upset about not getting into the state univ. Oh, My heart broke for him. I know he is not looking forward to the comm. college.

Beautiful Day here. Happy easter and spring if you dont celebrate that. GTAGWTA.

Sad about your DS18 LMP.

It is still so fresh, and all the waiting did not help the situation.

DH is working again today. I guess I am going to be the pine needles spreader today. I try not to nag but you know sometimes it is hard. Good thing I am basically healthy so I can most of the housework, with help every other week, the groceries, the paperwork, etc.

And heck, someone has to do the disney planning. Ah shucks!

Maybe I will look at some meal reservationstoday.

I am hoping DD19 gets here soon. It is difficult to wait.

happy Easter, my GAGWTA friends!

PatsMom - Thank You! For those of us who hope to survive this, we so appreciate the efforts of those who are out there working so hard to help find a cure and raising funds to find the drugs that help us now.

LMP - I'm sorry your son is having a hard time with the college issue. Maybe it will turn out in the long run and his hopes and dreams for what he wants to do in life will fall into place.

Snappy - Glad you found the perfect dress for your daughter, hope you find the shoes as well.

Well, we got a lot of rain overnight and the unfinished roof didn't leak. The roofers did a good job of covering up the open areas. It's supposed to rain next week too so the job will probably drag out rather than getting done in just a few days. But, that's usually how things work out. Just have to go with the flow. I'm just not used to cooking for 5 hungry guys :scared1:. I go to the store every day after work which I'm not used to either. I don't know how all you ladies with growing children do it every day. I have new found respect for you (and condolences :rotfl:).
