Your photos are great Laurie - it looks like you had a great time with your Mom and your brother.

I hope all of your children will get into their lst choice schools - the waiting is so difficult.

My son-in-law's sister passed this past week after a four year courageous fight with melanoma. It is so terribly hard - she fought until the bitter end - she has a 9 year old at home. There were over 400 people at her Memorial Service- she was 47. We are all very sad.

So pleased to hear the good news about Avery Ann. That is wonderful - he has been through so much the last few years and so have all of you.

Have a good week everyone and hugs to all of you. Hang in there LMP. Hugs, Barbara

Sha, you will sure get some great pictures of Wishes!

Do look for that area in AK, It was a bit far from where you get the food at Flametree, but is right next to tables and chairs that are intended for people to eat their food from that restaurant. It was also down steps.

No, my brother who met us in Orlando lives in NYC, he is the youngest of my siblings at 41. My other brother is the one who we haven't seen in a few years who lives in Costa Rica and causes my mother grief with his lifestyle (gambling, etc.)

Barbara, I am sorry about you SIL's sister. Melanoma is a real killer. How heartbreaking.

It is good to see you posting, Barbara.

Annrae sorry about her loss. That has to be hard on everyone.... 400 people! amazing life she must have had to touch that many people.

Laurie, your brother is my age. I couldnt remember if you had more than one brother, so I was curious if he was the one from CR. Your mom looked like she enjoyed herself.

She did enjoy the trip. She did a lot of complaining about it being cold, and the walking.

We took the parks at a very slow pace and never stayed more than 5 hours, mostly 3-4 hours. We also did not go to a park the first day or last.

I guess for age almost 80 she did not do bad. She tends to be negative more and more lately and is very outspoken as her mother was at the same age.

She also gives too much advice and tends to be controlling. It don't let it bother me too much, I just manage the situation. My sister has more problems with the controlling bit as she tends to cave. It is like we slip back into the mother child role.

I am a much stronger personality than my sister or my mother for that matter. I find if I anticipate things, all will be well.

However, I could not control the temperature. i must have heard a hundred times that it was going to be warmer after we left. I took it as a God wink that we were able to swim the last two days.

Funny but it warmed up but rained a good bit after we left, which I pointed out to Mom. I enjoyed the cool low humidity weather we had while we were there. I have been enough times when raining that I know the value of the weather we had.

Thank you for your kind words. She was a very special person, a wonderful mother who prepared her son by seeking counseling for him about a year before she passed away. But how can you ever prepare a child or anyone for something so terrible? On Thursday, the day of the Memorial Service, he said to his Dad, "Don't worry Dad. We'll make it through this and Mom will be proud of us." All of his classmates walked into the service dressed in their school uniforms and I could barely hold myself together. I started sending her a card about every 2 weeks probably 18 months ago and she always said when she went to her mailbox and saw my handwriting it brought a smile to her face. On Friday (she passed on Sunday) she was taken in for surgery as her leg broke at the hip and they needed to insert a rod and when she came out of surgery, the last words she said to her Mom were "We are going to have to work on getting you a softer shade of lipstick."

I feel better now that I've written this post. It has been a very difficult week. Thanks for listening. Barbara

Oh my goodness, Barbara. How brave and wise she was to make arrangements for her son to have help.

No greater gift. . .

Thank you for sharing that story. I imagine there wasn't a dry eye in the church when the young children came in.

It sure helps me see my problems in the right perspective.

You took the words out of my mouth. No matter what surgery or treatment I'm going through at the moment, I know that it's not that bad compared to what others are having to go deal with and it puts it all into perspective. My thoughts are with her family.

I learn so much from all of your stories... and I mean the stories each of you tell, regarding someones or your own fights. Im glad I ventured on this thread.

And yes, it does make you think about what you have and what you are going through. I think that is why I stayed away for a bit on here with my depression. I didnt want to bring others down. I will get through this I know.

Thankful for you all

Don't be silly, Sha. That's why we're here.

Barbara, I'm so sorry. Thank you for sharing your story. It does help keep things in perspective.

Laurie, love the pics. :lovestruc Do you have any pics of the balcony itself?

Sha, If anything we worry more when you are not here. You are an important member of our little tribe.

Linda, I will check, but probably not, always too much light out there. It was large though, with four nice chairs and two small tables. The lake view overlooking the pool was more scenice, directly below us was a parking garage and a lot of trees. I still enjoy the fireworks view.

I think there are some rooms that have both fireworks and lake views. It was important to us to be near the lazy river for mom and both building 4 and 5 achieved that. It was nice to walk right out.

No day pictures.

this does not do it justice.

I will say the Waldorf balcony was better. However, all rooms at the Wyndham bonnet creek had balconies, only some at the Waldorf did.

How are you doing, Linda? Are you contemplating a Wyndham bonnet Creek visit?

I am trying to decide whether to stay there in May before we move to Boardwalk or keep my Beach club reservation.

always wanted to try the beach club, and Bonnet Creek will be there.

Even with 45 % off though the Beach club 2 bedroom was just over $500 a night with taxes (this is not heagh season summer). I got one of the good ones over the weekend. Ater I rented my unit in early January the weekend nights wnet to full price.

I am frugal though, I can get more days at bonnet creek for less. if I can snag a 3 bedroom at Wyndham for $140/night, how can I resist? If it rains each day, the beach club is really not a good deal. I think the main attraction is proximity to EPCOT which we will have while at the Boardwalk anyway and the pool complex at beach club.

Good morning ladies

Barbara - so sorry to hear of this loss in your family . Sending my deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers. I find it truly amazing to see this womans strength and courage to prepare her son and to see how many people were touched by her life.

Ann - That is such wonderful news about Avery!! I hope your celebration is amazing in every way for your precious grand son.

Sha - we are here for you. I miss you when you are not around. Its so great you have your trip to look forward too.

Fl Lisa - hoping the sim will go well

KJ - Hope you are making it through the rads with little side effects

Elizabeth - hope you find some good news in your mailbox today!:)

Lisa (Honu) - hoping everything is getting lined up for your trip and surgery

Laurie - Love all your pictures. Your mom looks like a sweetheart. Oh how I miss my mom. I really wish she was here and could be encouraging me through alll of this!! Looks like you had a great trip!! I am still mulling over the may trip. Just saw dh has almost 200K frequent flyer miles so that might help us decide.

Well ds 20 has been somewhat non confrontational, oh joy!! He was talking on our house phone like midnight, keeping ds22 up. I told him not to talk long as I have a cheap plan that charges for alot of calls since we primarily use the cell phones etc. I told him if it is a toll call then he is paying etc.

DS 18 took dh van to see alice in wonderland yest. I didnt ask him how he liked it. He did say he sat in the lst row and it was really loud as they got there late. Now he took the van to school today...hmm.I guess he is wanting his own wheels!! Dh has arrived safely in England, yeah. The weather here was really bad, rainy and windy. Glad it wasnt too terrible where we are.

I have seen the EP before and enjoyed it alot. Laurie loved the topiary picture from the Festival, I love all the creations they always have. It amazes me how they come up with the ideas etc.

GTAGWTA. Have a great day everyone.

Annrae - I am so sorry for your loss.

Laurie - Thanks for all the pics from your trip. It looks as though you had a good time and I'm glad the weather cooperated for you. DD and I sat out by the pool twice last week, so I figured it was nice at WDW.

Sha - When are you going on the Grand 1? I would love to fill one of your extra spots, depending on when it is.

I went for my third try at the sim today. You know what they say - third time is a charm! I start my rads on Friday, finally.

Crazy week here. I have guests coming for the day tomorrow. They were my second family when I was in high school and dealing with my Mother's illness. Wednesday I have labs. Thursday is my niece's bridal shower and Friday I have my Herceptin infusion and my first rads. Saturday is my niece's wedding. I think I will be going to bed at 10 every night this week!

Oh Laurie, what GREAT pics!! :thumbsup2 Thanks for sharing. What precious memories with your mom and brother. And yes, it's the Dolphin for me in July :)

Barbara....I am so sorry for your loss. :sad1: Prayers for you and family

Linda, how are you faring with the weather in your part of Mass.?? We have dodged the bullet in our immediate local area as far as sever flooding, not too far east and south it is a different story, on the heels of the severe wind a couple of weeks ago!

Thinking of you all...GAGWTA

Thanks everyone... I have to say that today was a good day. No back spasm where my rib has been out. I will know more tomorrow if it is when I get my massage but it definitely is good.

Lisa that is great about the sim. And yes, you can. I will PM you with info and contact info so you can find us.

My sister and niece are joining in for the May trip. Its my weekend with friends for my mental sanity, but am glad they are going too. Mom isnt going... which maybe she will feel left out, but I dont want to have to watch for her too.... sort of selfish probably... but I need this time too.

Good evening ladies

Sha and Fl Lisa - That would be great if you got to meet each other. I know what you mean about needing some time away from your mom Sha. Sometimes you definetely need to take care of just YOU!!

Quiet day here. I dont think I willl hear from dh, he is on planes to Denmark I think. Ds 20 went to pick up his contacts today. I asked him if he is going to put them in for an hour and he said yes - o.k. nothing yet. He is suffering from serious cell phone withdrawl and is being ever so sweet and nice to me. I told him I will discuss the issue when dh gets back etc. He said - this is not right etc. I said - No, you cursing me out and making me cry and being disrespectful etc. is just not right.

I got an e mail from my bff in Penn. Well she said her step mom is on hospice care now. She really fought tough and hard. I think orginally she had kidney cancer. She went to Sloan Kettering in NYC and did some clinical trials. Last one they only had tried on monkeys but she was brave and tried it too!! I love her fighting spirit!!

Monday is my endo visit I think.

GTAGWTA. Hope you all have a great day.

Hi every body. I just wanted to pop in and leave you guys a quick note. I myself am not a breast cancer survivor but my aunt and my gramma are both survivors. All of you are so amazing.

Glad you dropped in, disneygurl!

Don't be a stranger. From the date on your signature, you look like a recent visitor to the Dis. Isn't this a great Disney board?

We love getting new comers and relatives of survivors.

Hope your aunt and grandma are healthy and happy!

GAGWTA, Ladies!

Laurie, loved the pics from your trip! Sorry it was so chilly.

Sha, just wanted to send you a hug.

FL Lisa, I hope the rads go well this week! :wizard:

Barbara, I am sorry for your loss.

DS received his acceptance letter to the Arts Magnet yesterday. :) We are so proud of him! I hope everyone waiting for school letters gets good news soon! :wizard:
