The time has flown by!!! LMP I remember talking about you and Jacks upcoming trips and they are here and gone already! Sha I hope you are feeling better from your accident. Honu, glad you are down to the decision of where you are going to have your surgery. I think Snappy is right about making your decision. Go where you feel is right. Snappy, so glad your floors were not ruined. That would have be a fiasco. Roto Rooter here in PA has a bad rap. I am glad they are good in your area. Laura Belle, it is good to hear from you. Keep "Popping" in and keep us up to date on you. Sorry you are going through so much healthwise. Keep on...Keepin' on Girl. FL Lisa, you sound in good spirits. I think shopping online is a good alternative to going out in the "madness". LMP I am glad your trip went well and you were able to enjoy it. I know I had to fuss at my husband and son when we were on the meal plan. I final confiscated my son's card from him. But all in all I like the plan. It saved us money. Jack's I have to read your Trip report.

Well everything is the same. My husband still hasn't found a job! It's tough!! It's hard. Been down but trying to see my way through the trees. Love my dog! He is just the greatest! So sweet. He helps me on my down days. My job with the new company is really busy. Started a new Customer service line that doesn't work so it is very stressful at work. I go home nauseated and sick.

My DS I think has decided to go to school for VEternarian. :yay: Now I got to figure out how to pay for it.

Hoping everyone is feeling good and getting better. Thinking and praying for you all! GAGTWA!

Laura - it is so good to hear from you sista!! remember my infection took about 6 months to finally heal, 300 bandage changes and 4 operations later. Hmm, wanna try and beat my record?:rotfl2: Keep fighting tough sista!!

Candy - I am so glad to see you posting sista. I will keep praying for you and your dh and family. I am sending you Romans 8:28, hold on tight to that one!!

GRRRRR

and I cancelled my WDW trip for this weekend......................

Hi Laurie:

So glad everything is back to normal now for you and that the Rotor Rooter man saved the day! That truly is a terrible mess to clean up.

You must be very busy waiting for your daughter and son to arrive home for the holidays and working at the same time. Looking back now I often wonder how I had the time to work!

I am almost all ready except for more baking. We are all so excited about our trip to WDW on Dec. 30 now and with Christmas so close - it is really so much fun anticipating everything. Our little one will be 9 months old so I'm sure it will be a dream come true for my DH and I as we have always wanted to spend holiday time at WDW with our entire family and we are looking forward to the cruise.

Have a wonderful holiday and I wish all of you a Happy Holiday Season and the Happiest of New Years. Hugs. Barbara

Good day today. DD19 had her impacted wisdom teeth removed at 9 am, DD14 had an hour plus of physical therapy at 1 pm, I brought a tray of really nice pastries from the best bakery in town to the wonderful cafeteria workers who helped DD14 find her retainer that she left on her lunch tray last week.

The wisdom teeth thing was easier for Dd19 than it was for Ds a few years back. So far so good.

She is also in a good mood because she has her grade results for 4 out of her 5 courses, all A's. She did extremely well as she was taking 17 hours, working 5 times a week, ran for and won an office in her sorority and kept up with the boyfriend.

Her ethics teacher even emailed her yesterday to tell her that her grade was the second highest in the class. He told her she really should think about taking more ethics classes. Lots of essay writing for the final, she is tops at writing.

I actually think the good news on grades is helping with recovery from the surgery, if that makes any sense (not sure I do).

DS did well too gradewise, although not as well as her. He left yesterday to go back to New Orleans to spend some time with the new girlfriend. Ah, young love!! I hope I get to meet her but she will be flying to California to be with her mom for Christmas so it may be awhile.

DH is going back to the duck hunting lodge again tomorrow through Sunday. I guess all those outside lights I bought last weekend are going to look real nice . . . maybe next year? LOL.

Thanks, Barbara, your posts are always so dear!! I know with the new grand daughter Christmas and the upcoming trip and cruise will be all the grander.

GAGWTA!!

Good afternoon ladies

Barbara - hope you have a great trip

Sha - sorry you had to cancel your trip

Laurie - I heard that people from Louisiana are the most happiest!!:)

Well ds19 is taking a final today, um he only took 4 classes and practically dropped one, this boy is just so off track. He is going to see my lst ENT surgeon for a post op follow up after the final. I am glad I am not going with him. Dont want to be reminded that he is the dr. who almost killed me.

We are under a blizzard watch here for tomm. and sun. Great as the ds have to work. I dont know how this is going to work out. Dh is expecting a guy from Russia coming in tonight. Suppose to get his car serviced tomm.I have done no christmas shoping. After ds comes home I am having him take me to the grocery store to beat the rush. They say 6-12 inches. There is no food in the house, the christmas tree needs to be put up etc. Looks like it will be an interesting week end. I have not bought 1 present. Sigh, sigh.

GTAGWTA. Have a great week end

Wait a minute. . . you mean Louisiana is really my happy place. . . now I am really confused.:confused3

But confused in a happy way.:cool1:

Pass the sunscreen, bug spray, umbrella, hip boots, gumbo, Jazz fest tickets, and er, well the rum.

Hi Ladies!

Sorry I have been out of touch. Had kind of a rough week but am feeling a bit better now. I plan on finishing up the Christmas cards and starting my wrapping today.

DD has been home from UCF since Monday and has been a tremendous help. Just having her keep me company has been a Godsend. I think it has been hard for her because she hasn't been home during the week following chemo - plus each one makes me progressively weaker. She even asked one of our friends if we've been lying to her about my condition while she's at school. My friend explained that, no, we haven't been lying it's just hard the first week even though I may sound good. She got good news yesterday - 3 As and 2 Bs on her first college report card. Yea!

DS is away at a church retreat this weekend. He is a group leader for this year's Confirmation class and all the leaders are at the retreat. I think it will do him good to be away from the house and everything for a few days.

I think the stress of everything is finally starting to wear on DH. He hasn't been himself all week and we had some "words" earlier in the week. We have since talked things out and he seems to be doing much better.

Snappy - Glad to hear you were able to survive your flood without too much damage. We have had tons of rain here the past week - but thankfully no flooding in our neighborhood. I'm just happy the sun finally came out today even if it's only 60 degrees out right now!

LMP - Sorry to hear about your Dining Plan problems. We never use the plan because we don't qualify for the free plan since we have APs when they run that special and I don't think it's worth the money otherwise. It sounds like your DS19 is having a bad time all around. I would imagine that school is not the priority it should be with everything else he's dealing with.

Sha - Too bad you had to cancel your WDW trip. Hopefully, you will get to go sometime in the not so distant future.

Have a great weekend everyone!:sunny:

Lisa, your daughter sounds wonderful. I am glad she is there to help you but sad she arrived at the worst point after your last infusion.

What a great result for her first year first semester! There is so much to adjust too living away and I am sure your treatment has been much on her mind.

Just home from a 8am massage and I am feeling mellow. I picked up another nano for DD14 since her 2 year one had moisture damage.

She will be surprised as she thinks she is only getting the new camera.

We are having sunshine too. They are widening the road just outside our subdivision and it is a mess as they seem to be working on multiple sections at the same time. They had to miss so many days due to rain lately that they are actually working on Saturday. Is not making driving out for errands too happy.:headache:

I actually hear an edger going. It is hard for me to believe you could do much in the yards yet, the yard is swampy. I guess it is good around the edges?:confused3

Good afternoon ladies

FL Lisa - sorry the chemo is so rough on yu, but its great your dd is there with you. My oldest ds is the one who is the best help to me. He will be 22 in a few days. Your dds grades are great!

Laurie - wow, the sound of an edger, no one does teat here, but in Texas we used to. I am hearing the sound of snowflakes right now and then comes the blizzard. They have uped the totals to 12-18 inches as the storm will just hang right on us.

Ds21 is suppose to work till 3. Ds19 may not have to go in at all and dh is taking his russian visitor out to lunch. He is staying at work and there is no micro etc. where he is, so I told dh to get him some sandwiches from the 7-11 as I am sure the co. will be closed down tomm. while they plow it out.

We will put up the christmas tree later, its 9 feet and huge. Have to find the 2 new ornaments I got. 1 is the snowman face and the other is a shiny metal thing with snowflakes. I like the lenox looking ones but wanted something different this time. The shiny one says 2009 wdw etc.

So now I guess dh is not taking me out christmas shopping. the ds will just have to be happy with money like last year, oh well, I might wrap up their disney souvenirs which arent so great but oh well.

Now ds18 wants to go on some youth retreat with his friends from school in Penn. Candy do you know where this place is -Tuscarora?. Its like $275 and he said he would pay for it himself. That was sweet of him, he is always lke that but I am sure we can chip in too.

GTAGWTA. Have a great day

DD19 got her last grade for the accounting course. Straight A's, her best semester for sure. I guess switching from premed to business was a good thing for her.

Glad I bought the pricey purse she wanted via ebay. Hard for me to part with $300 for a purse though.

The rest of her gifts are peanuts.

Laurie - congrat to your dd. I wish my ds19 did as well as your dd and Fl Lisas dd, ds 21 is good though, he is in 2 honor societies and a 3.75. He has had some intership interviews for next sememster. One sounds good, but no offer yet, no money of course, just experience.

I am waiting for the dinner to get done. Ds 19 had to go to work now. I hope they close early. The snow has stoppped or stallled for the time being.

In the mail today we just found out the lawyer is suing the builder who we were trying to sell our property to in NJ, this is dh grandmas and dads houses and property jointly owned with his 2 cousins. Oh this thing has dragged on for 3 years with no end in sight. I calll it our real estate soap opera, if only dh cousins would have listened to us, oh well. After this is over, we arent going to talk to them anyway with all that has gone on over the years. Dh cousins wife wrote in the christmas card, oh maryann, I didnt realize how sick you were, oh yeah right, she heard dh tell her whenever they called about business and never called to ask about me etc.

I have to see if the blood donation story has a web link, if it does I can pm it to anyone who wants to read it. I dont know if it does or not yet. havent looked it up.

GTAGWTA.

Guess who is home ladies??? Me of course, home to cold, cold, not getting above freezing today NY., oh I want some nice Florida sunshine:beach:

Well it was a good vacation overall and I will definetely think before we get the dining plan again, that caused alot of frustration etc. etc. Other highlights of the trip we were got to swim in stormalong bay, I had my disney dream come true, to meet the beast, I got a pic alone with him and dh told belle I had stage 4 cancer etc. the candelight processional was great, I was not too thrilled with Chita Rivera. I know she was a last minitue replacement but I felt she just read the words, nothing heartfelt, she did say to pray for the troops which I thought was nice, we didnt see any christmas decorations at the monorail resorts I was afraid to go on them after we heard about the breakdown on tv. Oh I love the french bakery, I am in napoleon heaven:):)I liked the gospel choir Joyful! at Eopcot., Sha you should check them out. I will do a little dining report, maybe a trip one, I am not sure.

Sounds like you had a great time! That's awesome! :thumbsup2

Saw our big blood donation story in the work newspaper , dh and I made the front Page and over to page 2, wow!! Today is the blood drive and dh is going. DS 21 lost his lst basketball game coaching, today is not expected to be better.

Wow, front page news, eh? Cool!

I will be doing laundry today. Mail etc.

Lisa - I am glad you have made a decision about the surgery, is this dr. willing to give yu the pump you were researching!

Thanks! No, there will be no pump. I can't get any of the pump companies to get on board and try something new. I've sent out emails to every company out there and none have contacted me back. It's been weeks. So I guess that's going to be a no go. It makes me sad. That could have really helped people, but reps just won't think outside the box. Lame, lame, lame.

Honu, glad you are down to the decision of where you are going to have your surgery. I think Snappy is right about making your decision. Go where you feel is right.

Thanks! I feel like this is the best choice. It's hard, but I think it's what I need to do.

Yay for dogs! I don't know what I'd do without mine...

My DS I think has decided to go to school for VEternarian. :yay: Now I got to figure out how to pay for it.

Hoping everyone is feeling good and getting better. Thinking and praying for you all! GAGTWA!

Cool! Veterinarian school. That would be awesome for him.

GAGWTA all! Things have been crazy around here. I'm ready for a nap...

Maryann, each kid is different, DS21 is on his own time line. This semester, junior year he has finally kicked in. Thank goodness he will be able to retain his scholarship. His tuition won't break the bank, but it all adds up. It is more the aspect of stepping up to the plate and working hard.

I think he is finally on the right path.

It took a while. My message is to try and be patient with your DS19. With your illness compounded by your husband's required traveling for work has been stressful, most of all on you and him, but also on all three boys.

My observation is that this level of stress is handled differently by different personalities. Some young people are not really equipped to gracefully handle it for an extended time. Some are. It has astounded me how very different our kids are, in looks, termperament, interests, the works. I used to expect more from DS21 since DD19 was throughout the years just more accelerated in everything. On the other hand, she was in complete denial about me having cancer, just did not acknowledge it at first.

Your DD19's time will come too.

You are a very committed parent, I can tell by your posts. He is a big step ahead of many other kids who do not have time and focus from his parents.

How is your stomach today? Good luck at your appointment tomorrow. Please post when you can.

Linda, stay warm. Sending you warm wishes, at least!

Also, glad you have electrity

Hope you have all your shopping done!

I am worried now about my brother tom coming in from NYC tomorow, I think he probably has a very early flight as he was due to land in New Orleans at 9:30 (direct flight).

Stay safe everyone.

Good snowy evening ladies

Laurie - Is your brothers flight still going to go? We live about 1 1/2-2 hours from the city and we have a whopping..24 inches, yup 2 feet of snow, record breaker of 30 years.

Linda - How much snow did you get???

Lisa - so just what are you crazy busy doing?

Well dh is going to work tonight. He has to have a conference via phone to Russia. He took the visiting Russian to the cafeteria at work yest. He wanted tuna sanwhichs , go figure. We gave him some fruit and in Siberia. Dh also brought him a grapefruit and some clementines. He said there is more snow here than in Siberia!! Dh callled him today and he said thank you for the food, hmm, I guess now he sees !!

Tomm. end endo, tues. the stomach surgeon. oh what fun!!

Oh at dinner last night, I said something about cancer. Ds18 says, "I dont ever want to hear that word in this house again"., dh and I said get used to it because it might come back etc. its part of mommys life etc. Hmm, guess they dont deal well with this stuff.

Lisa - so just what are you crazy busy doing?

I've been running in between 3 places. My house, my parents house, and my friend's house in Seattle. I've only been home at my house for 4 days in the last 3 months... Anyway. Last week was Hanukkah so I spent some time with my friends because they're Jewish. Before that I was housesitting for my parents for a week while they went on vacation. I'm busy trying to plan a couple of DL trips to coincide with my surgical consult in San Francisco and then my surgery, whenever that will be... harping on my endo's office to get my paperwork out to the surgeon before the holidays. Trying to decorate for Christmas. I've been volunteering for the VFW in Bellevue, WA packing comfort boxes for our soldiers and I'll be starting a new volunteer thing soon for an organization that flies WW2 vets to D.C. to see their memorial at no cost to them. I'm hoping to go on our next flight on March 22nd as a "guardian" for one of the vets. And of course all that makes me crash every few days... I know I'm forgetting a bunch of stuff, but my brain is kind of mushy today...

I think sometimes it's harder on family to deal with this stuff than it is for us. We just accept it and do what has to be done. It's hard for them to see you in pain and not be able to do anything about it.

It's amazing the stuff that we can get over here that they can't get in Russia...

Hugs everyone! GAGWTA! I'm off to decorate the 2nd Christmas tree. Maybe on Christmas I can finally rest....

Santa, can you please bring me a nap?

Hello from snowed in New England. :cold:

For a change, we totally escaped the snow you had in New England and the snow Maryann had in NYC. We are between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario and live close to Lake Ontario so that is where so many of our storms come from. They call it "lake effect." I call it "life effect." However, I must say that when the sun is shining on a new fallen snow, it is quite pretty!!!! I'm sure some of you are shaking your heads and wondering what my problem is!! Especially Linda and Maryann as they shovel, shovel and shovel!!

Take care everyone and have a good week. Hugs, Barbara

Linda - How much snow did you get???
We got about about 18 inches or so - a foot and a half! I believe they are calling it the Blizzard of 09!

My SIL was in a bad accident last night driving home from work in the blizzard/whiteout conditions. She was hit by a snow plow. Fortunately she is ok, but her leg and foot are broken and her car is totaled. The officer on the scene said the fact that she was driving a big car probably saved her life. The plow driver was quite shaken up.

Barbara, we were out in Buffalo/Niagara this summer and we were imagining how it would be there in the winter. Whoa is all I can say! I agree snow is beautiful at first. (Then it gets yucky and dirty, lol.) I did get some pics this morning if I can find time to develop them tomorrow. Right now I'm fried (and don't have it in me to do another thing tonight - doing a kitchen renovation and trying to do Christmas planning at the same time was, in retrospect, pretty bad timing :faint: ).
