Good afternoon ladies

Linda - hope you are recovering well from your treatment

Lisa - the food and wine sounds like a perfect diversion. That is nice that you can go to your ds gym. My ds has never even invited me to his gym. I havent pushed the issue. I think I would embaress him. I told him I only wanted to do the treadmill.

Laurie - hope your massage went well and that your dd is feeling better too

Well the day off is going great. Dh slept till noon while I got to listen to his cell phone going off like crazy. I refused to answer it. Gosh, cant these people leave dh alone on his day off. If dh does show up on time later we will go see wall street. If not maybe dinner. I refuse to walk into a movie when its dark etc.

Best news: ds18 just called me and he got the 3rd pt job!! Praise God! O.k. its the furthest away, worst time and only 3 hours a week but heah its a start and a foot in the door etc. I never heard him so happy on the phone lately with all he went through with the stuff lately etc.

GTAGWTA. Blessings always to all.

Patsmom I will be thinking of you and praying for you. Please keep us posted.

My mom only has one more chemo left, next Wednesday. She is doing ok and was able to get out and actually took my DD10 for a haircut today (class pics tomorrow :upsidedow) I do have a question: while going through chemo was anyone bothered by shortness of breath? It's not all the time or at rest but the littlest bit of activity and she's huffing and puffing. I'm not sure if this could be a side effect of the chemo? Or the result of the past few months of lots of inactivity?

Oh and on an unrelated note, I am planning another Disney trip! We just went the end of August and hadn't planned on returning for two or three years, but my DD14's orchestra is playing in WDW in 2011 so of course we can't miss it!

Peace....

LMP - Maybe you can convince your DH to just turn the phone off! Everyone deserves a day off. Great news about the job though.

MinnieTink - planning another trip is also a good diversion. I'm thinking about my January trip because I'll be done with chemo (I hope)

Thanks for the prayers and good wishes from everyone. First treatment went well. I am having minimal side effects but the effects are cumulative so I expect it will get worse. But I am determined to take my best shot at hanging on to my bladder!

Good evening ladies

MinnieTink - glad to hear that your mom will be having her last chemo treatment. I had the shortness of breath, but didnt have chemo. Mine was because I was very anemic (that was 3 blood transfusions before they found out I had cancer)

Today was a bust. It was cold, rainy, windy etc. We just stayed in and went out to dinner. Tomm. will be nice so we will make up for lost time.

Starting off with...lots of blood tests for me without an appt. Oh hooray! I get to sit with the masses. I usually make an appt. There are none and I didnt know the dr. would mail me the script so soon. Gotta get it done as dh will be away, I am suppose to get the blood counts, cholesterol and b12. Then he adds in comp. met. panel and vit d. I told the nurse the endo just did those before he ordered these tests. Either she was not listening or he did not hear. It just doesnt go anywhere with giving me a good feeling about my gp ...and you all know how I feel about him any way. If he was on top of things this cancer would have been detected much earlier. This guy is very bad with diagnosing, connecting the dots and not knowing who to refer you to etc. I wish he would retire.sigh, sigh.

oh and ds18 loved his pt orientation. He said there is lots to learn. He goes for more orientation on monday and officially starts tues. :)

GTAGWTA. Have a great week end everyone.

PatsMom, good to hear the treatment is going well so far.

LMP, hopefully you'll have a great day tomorrow....or is that today? I get confused when posting in the middle of the night! ;)

Lisa, here's good thoughts for your appt! pixiedust: And your food & wine day sounds perfect!

Snappy, hope your shoulder is feeling better. How's DD doing?

My PET scan is scheduled for the 4th, and I have an appt with the oncologist on the 11th for the results. I keep reminding myself not to bleed before I'm shot.....but I swear it's like I can see the bullet coming.

DH & I are celebrating our 29th anniversary on Sunday, going out to brunch and then just whatever seems good at the time. Hard to believe it's been that long already.....of course, I was a child bride of 19! :rotfl: And DH had just been laid off from his job and was a pizza delivery man when we got married. Yes, I'm sure most people must have thought we were crazy! :faint:

Have a great weekend everybody, GAGWTA!! :goodvibes

Cheryl, sounds like you and your DH were as crazy as a fox!

Enjoy your anniversary celebration! hope you have a great day!

Mary Ann, glad your younges DH enjoyed his first day of orientation.

Although the probing and pushing and pulling to unfreeze my shoulder hurts in the moment, I actually look forward to my 3 sessions a week. All the therapists are so caring and easy going, while being professional.

I think it is a very good profession.

I think I am making progress. I am trying harder to work through the pain and not be a wimp. It takes about two hours of my day so I am very motivated to get to the finish line.

I hope the rain has subsided for you lon the east coast. We are having a beautiful fall day after a low humidity week, very unusual for this area. Good for us as there is a 2:30 kickoff for LSU against Tennessee. We will be housebound most of the day since we live so close to campus. These tailgaters are so into it!

Hope everone is well! Unusual to have gone several days without a post here.

We have a sort of fall weather here. Record low of about 44 this morning. Bet it is nice in Orlando too.

Have fun all you who are hitting the F&W festival!

With you in spirit!

I need to do more PT homeowrk to make much more progress. Stretch, stretch, stretch. I got fussed at yesterday.:sad1:

Payroll today, then quarterly tax reporting, end of grant year reporting, audit next week or the next. Nose to the grindstone over here! Actually PT and stretching rock compared to accounting stuff, right?

Good morning ladies

Linda (Pea N Me) - How is the sunroom going? Cant wait to see your pictures

Laurie - its good they give you pt exercises to do at home. My place never did, even when I asked them to. I think that was some of the problem. My shoulder is a mess as usual. I think I would pick accounting over pt. I love numbers more than pain!! All your hard work will pay off I am sure!!

Cheryl - hope your ct scan went well

Lisa - what booths are you going to at the food and wine? There seems like so many choices!!

Linda (Pats Mom) - hope your treatment this week is bearable

Its cloudy and drizzling here alternating with rain for the next day or so. It was nice sat and ds20 cut the grass.

I got the blood test on sat. What a zoo! There were 14 people in front of me. I think my girl was rushing as there were 3 screaming kids next door and she wanted to go help that tech. Ds20 is home from dog sitting, ds18 officially starts the pt job today. Dh is working like crazy. I never see him much.

Along with Breast Cancer awareness month ,its also thyroid cancer awarness month. Along with ovarian and uterine cancer awareness month too. My hosp. had a little thing in their newspaper. Thyroid cancer was last, oh well, last is good too.:) I will be rooting for my yankees tomm.:cheer2:

The article about Alyssa is in guideposts.org online magazine. Its told from the baseball players point of view. The picture of alyssa is very post op. Her steroid swelling has gone down alot and her hair is much blonder. I almost cried reading it.

GTAGWTA. Blessings to you all always

Mary Ann,

I have been getting Guideposts for over 30 years. I think I remember seeing that story in my Guideposts! Now I am going to have to go home and look it up!:goodvibes

GAGWTA!!:goodvibes

PET scan yesterday was interesting, to say the least. Before they start anything, they have to check blood sugar and it must be below 200. I didn't know it at the time, but apparently after fasting a normal reading will be between 70-100. Well mine was 220. :confused3 Spent about 30 minutes walking back and forth down the hallway and it was down to 199 so they did the scan. Of course I don't know anything about the scan, but now it looks like I can add diabetes to the mix. :headache: I'm exhausted thinking about all this stuff. Blah.

Good evening everyone! Lmp, thanks for the tip on anemia causing shortness of breath. I hadn't thought about that but after my mom saw and spoke to the dr that's exactly what it is.

Last chemo is tomorrow! Yahoo! Well...yahoo in about three weeks from now!

Cheryl good luck with your results. I loved your story. My DH and I got married in some "tough" times as well. Wouldn't trade him for anything!

On a side note my DS had his first school pictures today in nursery school. :) he said "A weird guy took my picture. He called me stinky pants." lol!

GO YANKS!!!!!!!!!

We had a great time at Food & Wine yesterday. It was a bit more crowded than I expected for a Tuesday. The weather was perfect - partly cloudy with a breeze and 82 degrees. DD and my friend's DD drove down from UCF and spent the day with us. The food was mostly excellent with my only disappointment being Italy. The Baked Cheese Ravioli was very bland. I have not heard good things about either of the restaurants in Italy, so I shouldn't have been surprised. My favorite was the Grilled Beef Skewer with Chimichurri Sauce and Boniato Puree from Argentina. DD also thought that was the best. The best drink was from Puerto Rico - Bacardi Frozen Torched Cherry Colada. Delicious! I managed to keep away from all the desserts although everyone that was with me sampled quite a few of them.

They did some things differently this year. They had a Discovery Passport which listed all 28 destinations and what was offered at each one. You could also get the passports stamped at each booth. Much easier to keep track of what you sampled and where it was. They also had the F&W cards attached to a wrist band so you could just slide it on and off at each register. Both items were very convenient.

I really enjoyed myself yesterday and it was great to get away for the day and not be thinking about doctor's appointments, tests, etc. I may have to go back and do it again before it's over!:)

Good morning ladies

Cheryl - Glad the test is over but sorry there is another "bump" to deal with. Did they tell you to go see your reg. dr. or an endo?? I liked your story about "young love" too. We told the ds we were so poor that we had to actually take ds22 piggy bank money and go and buy him milk:).

Lisa - The F and W sounds like so much fiu!! I am sure my dh would want to try everything!! How were the lines/waits? I heard they get crazy sometimes.

MinnieTink - hope your moms treatment goes well. Do they give her something. At our hosp. they give you a pin when your treatment is done etc. Cute story about your little ds. They grow so fast!! I remember being traumatized when my littlest guy told me "I quit Barney!!".

Laurie - hoe the shoulder is coming around for you. How is dd's ankle?

Its going to be nice this week end, so I am trying to talk dh into going pumpkin picking, not actually, the farmstands leave them out front too if you dont want to go in the field. Some mums and a corn stalk and we will be set to go for fall. I also love getting the roast corn they have. Its so yummy!!
Ds18 had a good lst day at work. The owner girl was showing him where to dump the garbage and they managed to lock themselves outside while a lady was hooked up to a machine on a treatment table. :) She said she might even use ds another day next week. Sounds great and he is loving it. He said she is teaching me so much mom!!

GTAGWTA. Have a great day everyone.

:woohoo: Just got word that my PET scan is clear!!! :woohoo:
OMG.....what a relief! Feels great to be able to breathe again! Still gotta get the other stuff figured out, but right now I'm in party mode! :dance3: Thanks for listening to me fret the past few weeks!

Lisa....your day yesterday sounds wonderful. Please let us know how it went with your appointment.

LMP, sounds like your DS has found a great gig! Have fun going to the farmstands this weekend. I love Fall.

Minnie Tink....Yay for the end of chemo!! :yay::yay:

Laurie, how's the stretching going??

:goodvibesGAGWTA!!!:goodvibes

Cheryl -:cool1::woohoo: with you. That's great news regarding the PET scan. Sorry to hear about the blood sugar - hopefully you will be able to keep it under control.

MinnieTink - It's great to hear that your Mom is almost there!!!

Lisa - Glad to hear that you had a great time at F&W. We hope to be there next month and enjoy a few samples. I don't think I will have your will power though. I think I will have to sample a few desserts.

Hope everyone has a great week and weekend.

GAGWTA

Oh Cheryl, How very wonderful! Celebrating right there with you girl!

Thanks for asking y'all. I have really been working on my shoulder stretching exercises. Had an 8 am PT appointment where I tried 110% and a 9:10 one with my doc. The doc said anoher of his PRP injection female patients (I might call it victims) also ended up with a frozen shoulder at the one month mark. She now has 100% mobility. He said I look like I am doing better than she did at the same mark. He did ok another 4 weeks of PT, though.

I am very motivated now with the "homework.". I found several of DH's webbed belts, one for home and one for work to use for the behind the back stretching. That one is not my favorite.

DD14's ankle is much better, MaryAnn, thanks for asking. She no longer is wearing the brace. We have to fly back to school tonight for a candlelight ceremony. Gotta love Catholic schools!

MaryAnn I did not find the F&W crowded in 2008 but we went the first week, and we stayed 6 nights so a lot of our days were week days.

Gosh that was a fun trip as it included the RFTC race too. Even DH walked in the race with me.

Maybe next year????????

Mary Ann,

I read it! I had no idea that the girl in that article was "your" Alyssa! :goodvibes

Now I'm going to read it again! :)
