I saw on the lung biopsy thread that Beth got to come home. :cool1: I'm still keeping her in my prayers.

That's good. She'll probably be exhausted and sore for a few days. Let's pray after all that she gets good news. :grouphug:

:coffee: ~~~***GAGWTA sistas***~~~ :coffee:

Jim & Beth- I'm so sorry to hear the procedure didn't go well...Beth you have been through so much already sista. I'm so happy to hear you are recovering at home now, I know how important that is mentally! Praying for your recovery and that you hear some good news about the results soon. :flower3:

I got to go to my girl's basketball games yesterday and both teams won! Shelby's team (my youngest) remains undefeated and Chloé's team won their 1st game! :cheer2:

I hope everyone has a beautiful Sunday! :flower1:
:grouphug:

Have not been on for a while. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who is on here.
Have been working more this past week, tax season has officially started. I find that I can't do what I have done in the past though. My husband got a call for me to come into work this afternoon, I wasn't home though and decided I needed time to myself. My old self would have run right in.

Linda, have a great time at DW, and the Disney Magic is just the most wonderful cruise to take. I have done it twice. Hope to be able to do it again someday.

MNSusan, my sister went down on Thurs. too to go on EE too. She wanted me to go, but I couldn't do it now. Hope you had fun.
Beth, hope you are doing better. Laura, hope you are doing better too.

I may not write a lot, but I do check in when I have a chance, and really appreciate all the warmth and love and information on this board.

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Donna

Busy busy here lately...so,

GAGWTA!!!!

oh and Donna....you absolutely WILL take another cruise!! :grouphug:

:smickey:~~~***GAGWTA sistas***~~~:smickey:

Donna- It's good to hear from you! Isn't it funny how much changes...I'm glad you took that time for yourself! And thanks for the good thoughts!

I'm getting out and doing more, and boy am I exhausted! :faint: I hit Targét yesterday and somehow (as usual) ended up with a whole cartful of stuff, then the problem was getting it all into the house :confused3 ...I'm not kidding when I say I took a nap after that! :cat:

Beth, I hope you're feeling better everyday sista! :flower3:

I hope all of you have a wonderful day! :grouphug:

 GAGWTA

Just wanted to stop in and say HELLO!

I have been thinking and praying for all of you here! Even though I haven't posted lately, I've been lurking and always have you on my mind. Such strong women here, it's good to know you're always here for support for myself as well as others.

I hope all of you who have gone through recent surg and such are feeling better :grouphug:

Today is my appt with the new oncologist. I'm actually a little nervous. Believe it or not, I found a nodule on my chest wall. Can't believe this is getting to be a nightmare of a rerun. A little larger than a pea. I'm hoping it's scare tissue or possibly a lymp node or something from the recent infection of the implant or removal of it. Although, it's not really near the scar. It's near the edge where the implant was. Hopefully it's not recur #2.

I'll keep you all informed of what she says.

This board is so inspirational, keep up the good work.

Kelly

Kelly, I am hoping this turns out to be nothing for you. Please keep us posted.

Glad you are able to do more, Laura. I hope you continue to progress.

Just back from a very last minute WDw trip, just me and my DD10. I realized that the craziness lately was nowhere close to ending, but our AP's were.
January seemed to be the perfect time, especially when southwest dropped the fares out of New Orleans. The heat last summer almost did me in.

We stayed at Pop Century and had a room close to the bus stop area. So, the room was well located, very clean, and with only the two of us it was perfect. We even got on Expedition Everest. Very neat ride. I highly recommend this time of year for the weather and low crowds. It really was a lovely trip for us. Flying was a real help, those long driving trips were harder on me than I realized. And Pop was fun, I loved all the icons, especially in the 50's and 60's section. DD10 thought it was so cool too. I love oldies music and it was everywhere.

Lots of homework to catch up on. We'll do ok.

I almost second guessed my self on the trip. After I booked everything, my crazy brother who has been living in Costa Rica for 3 years called, he is marrying a girl from down there, much younger than him (baby involved).
He flew back here yesterday, and is going to try to save money to make it all work out. Unfortunately, he has a very serious gambling addiction and is staying with my mom here until he gets back on his feet. He gambled away $15 grand since October, now he finds out he's gonna be a daddy.

Lots of stress on my mom, I felt guilty going on our trip, but I knew I needed it. I do feel calmer since we got home. I am going to gamanon meetings with her, trying to help her deal with it all.

If anyone has any experience with this issue, please share.

GAGWTA, sistas!!

Well, looks like I'm headed for recur #2. The oncologist wasn't too optomistic, but said you never know. She wants me to see a surgeon ASAP as well as do the CT scans, bone scan and blood work. I can't believe this is actually happening again!!! It measured 1cm by doing skin measurement. It's very easy to feel something growning, because there isn't much tissue there. I'm waiting on the call from the hospital to see how soon I can see the surgeon, although she was insisting it be this week, so as soon as they call, I'm there! Did the blood work today, now I just have to wait to see when the scans get scheduled for. She said she wants them done within the week. I'm glad she's getting on top of things right away.

Trying to stay positive, maybe 3rd times the charm and it will be a false alarm.

I'll keep you updated.

Kelly

((((((((((((((Kelly))))))))))))))))))
I'm sorry sista...I hate that you are going through this again. I'm praying for you, that if it is a recurrance, it will respond quickly and the cancer doesn't rear it's ugly head any place else in you!

Laurie- I'm glad you got to get away! It sounds like a fun trip! We've driven from MD to Disney a couple of times and it has it's positive points, but it's too wearing on me and I don't think I'd do it again. It's nice to hop a plane and be there in 2 hrs! I just got a Ding the other day for $34 each way through early June and it was sooooo tempting, but we just can't do it this year. I'm sorry your family is going through more trials, I think you all have had enough! Wishing your brother well and praying that he overcomes his addiction and is a good husband and father.

I had talked with my mil in CO on Sunday and she commented that they had very little snow this year and she's concerned that they'll get hit next month, while I'm there. I really don't have any snow boots. So I stopped in Kohl's and they have a ton of boots marked down to ridiculous prices. The ones I bought aren't snow boots per se, they're just casual suede boots and I just sprayed them with scotch guard...for $10, who cares if they get wet!!! :confused3

Have a great day sistas! :grouphug:

Kelly, so sorry you are in this place again. Hang in there, girl. Praying the scans are clear.

Great buy on the boots, Laura. We don't have Kohl's here, darn it. Not that we wear boots much anyways.

Donna, glad you are pacing yourself. I know how exhausting tax season, or in my case year end can be. I am betting you have put in 100% plus in previous years, let someone else step up to the plate this time. You'll be back.

GAGWTA!!

GAGWTA! :flower1: Continued prayers for Beth.

Donna, nice to see you posting. Hang in there, things will be better. :flower3:

Kelly, praying what you found is nothing serious. It must be :faint: to feel another after your past issues. I dread feeling anything too. In March I'll be starting my yearly MRIs. These will be the first since diagnosis so I'm a little nervous but I'm trying not to worry about it right now. :grouphug: to you.

Laura, I've been shopping this week too. Love Kohl's sale and clearance prices. :cheer2: Was in there for a long time the other day, found some nice, comfortable dress slacks for the cruise (another Dis-er convinced me that was the best way to go and I believe she was right ;) ). Best buy, though, was in JC Penney, got black dress sandals marked $9.99 but at the register they were actually $5! :rotfl: Buying clearance shoes it helps to be a Bigfoot, LOL.

snappy, wow, I can't believe you have been to WDW and back and we didn't even know!! :lmao: Glad you had a good time, sounds awesome! How did you like EE? We love Pop Century, we'll be there soon too, can't wait!! :hippie: Hope things work out for your brother.

Well I've been busy packing believe it or not. I have to say this is the most complicated trip I've ever had to pack for. DH is taking care of his own things, but I'm trying to get clothes for the rest of us for both WDW and the cruise. We were in WDW last January and it was :cold: at night so I know I have to bring warm clothes for all (Laurie, how was it last week?) but it will be warm in the Caribbean so we need summer clothes for the ship. We also have formal nights, pirate nights and five other dinners to dress for on the ship so getting all those things plus jewelery, shoes and such is daunting. To make matters worse the kids are growing like weeds so some clothes are small, some are too big, shoes don't fit, etc. :rolleyes1 I've had all our closets torn apart (and cleaned them while I was at it) with clothes and suitcases everywhere. Now mind you, I'm not complaining :teeth: it's just been a little overwhelming. My poor dog is nervous seeing the suitcases, she knows somethings up - I'm going to miss my little buddy while we're away paw:  .

Have a good day everyone. :wave2:

P.S. We found out the couple we gave our embryos to is halfway through their pregnancy with a little...................... :earsgirl: so that was exciting news. DH and I both became overwhelmed with emotion for a minute when we received word, but we are very happy for them and know it was the right thing to do. They are going to give her one of our names (me or DD), which is such a beautiful tribute to us, and such a nice thing for them to do.

Funny story. :cutie: DD (8) had a sleepover at a friend's last weekend. I called in the morning to see how the night went. The friend's mother mentioned, "Oh, BTW, (your DD) told us an interesting story last night. She says she's going to have a little sister but she's not going to live with you. That she was created from a sperm and an egg but that she grew in a dish and not the ground. And that her mother and father are going to name her after one of you". :scratchin :rotfl: OMG, I explained what was going on to the kids but I never expected them to go telling the story all over town!! I imagine the teacher must have gotten an earful, too - I'm sure I'll be hearing another "interesting" story from her on parent-teacher night!

Linda, I just did not have time or energy to post about my trip before we left. I saw $50 each way tickets on Southwest (not a ding) at times I thought I could swing on the Friday before we left for the next Tuesday. Southwest cut the trips in and out of N. O. to 3 per day and one leaving Orlando is at 6:30 am  I was not too crazy about taking DD out of school for 5 days but I did it. I was a nervous wreck waiting for the principal to approve it, I thought maybe we wouldn't be able to go. And trying to get packed in that short of time was tough even for 2 people since I was trying to keep it all a secret from DD. I don't think I'll ever plan a trip in such a short time frame.

The tickets (I even had a $90 credit with southwest from a previous cancellation) and the $49 passholder rate at Pop was what convinced me this time. It was such a coincidence that it all worked out. DH even took us to and from the airport, he needed to be in N.O. anyway last Tuesday to help his mom with her SBA loan meeting that day so he just took the day off.
The N.O. airport is a ghost town, but the traffic getting there was unreal.
Obviously, a lot of folks are still communting to N.O. from B.R.

It was a bit cool at night, Linda. I brought lightweight jackets and gloves but we used sweatshirts only. We almost always ended up tying the sweats arouund our waists during the day. No shorts though, we needed long pants each day. We avoided Kali river rapids and only rode Splash twice on Saturday (it was closed till then anyway). They had the splash thing on so that you get wet by cars going down the big fall as you enter the mountain. We were soaked and uncomfortable for awhile until the sun warmed us up a bit. I bet they sold a lot of towels in the Splash gift shop last weekend.

Are you going to make a room request? I called the day before and just asked for a non-smoking room in the 50's, as close to Everything Pop and the bus stop area as possible. We checked in right at 3pm and got a great room, 1113, first floor corner room, with a lot of landscaping between us and the parking lot. It was just a few feet from where the luggage handling area is if you know where that is, if you face Pop it is in the far right hand side of the building to the right of the door entering the lobby. It was also close to both the hippy dippy pool and the bowling pin pool. since you have been to Pop before you probably have a favorite area, I just did not want to be in the 80's or the 90's or the far side of the 50's or 70's.

Being close to the food court and the bus stop really saved us some walking.
I also found it pretty quiet, occasionally we could hear if someone talked loud walking outside. Never heard neighbors to the one side or directly above.

My only complaint was the pillows were a joke. Small potatoes. I am done staying offsite or in the summer. This was the way to go. I can't see renting houses anymore, we'll just get 2 rooms. I used the microwaves in the food court a lot for snacks and we mostly ate our meals in the parks anyway.
I brought a big bag of healthy trail mix from Whole Foods, lots of granola bars and micro popcorn. We also used the resort cups alot since our room was so close.

Your story about the couple who adopted your embryo gave me goosebumps.
I can't imagine the emotions you are feeling. Funny story about your daughter about her little sister who won't live with you. We really live in an amazing time. What a gift, a new little life and family! It is so neat that they informed you of the progress of the pregnancy. It must make it so much more real.

Still thinking of you, Kelly. Praying for a positive outcome, or that it is caught early.

Also thinking of Beth and hoping she is recovering from the complications from her lung biopsy, and hoping as well for clear results there too.

Laurie

Laurie, that sounds wonderful!! I'm glad you liked Pop! I agree - last January we got an awesome SWA fare and room rate too, and even with the Dining Plan it was almost unbelievable how little it cost. We stayed in the area you described too, right by the bushes over just before the Bowling Pin pool. Sounds like the weather was about the same as it was for us, thanks. Only one day for us was it relatively warm so we wore shorts that day. It happened to be our AK morning, though, and the park was pretty empty. As luck would have it we rode Kali River Rapids 3 times in a row without having to get off, but needless to say we got soaked and then a little chilly, however the sun was out and we warmed up after a while. How did you like EE?

In October we only stayed for one night at Pop before we moved to the Dolphin. It was the kids' birthday night so we'd requested a room in the 60's bldg, ground floor overlooking the HD pool as a special treat. That was a big mistake because people were smoking at almost all of the tables along the pool and right away DH's head "filled up" as he is very allergic to smoke. By the end of our trip he had a raging sinus infection, and spent our last night at WDW sick in bed with a fever, headache and chills. It's a shame because that is a really cool area, but we won't stay there again.

This time we aren't arriving until midnight and we'll be with another family so I'm not sure where we're going to wind up, we'd like two rooms closeby (I better call beforehand to ask them not to put us near smoking areas, thanks for the tip). Since we haven't stayed on the other side I was thinking the 90's area might be nice. I love walking around that side by the 8 track bldgs, remembering the crazy days of my youth, LOL. We love the music there, too, and DD and I also love watching them do the Hustle and the Twist in the food court! We got an AAA rate of $65/night so we figured with all the other expenses of the cruise this would be a welcome relief - airfare was very high for school vacation week, no Dings there for sure. :sad2: BTW, did you see the thread about how they're making suites at the Value resorts? Someone posted pictures (kicking myself for not saving the thread because now I can't find it). It looks like some of the suites might be in the other half of Pop Century that's not completed yet, looks like they'll be reconfiguring the rooms so they can sleep 8 if I recall and they have a kitchenette! I'm sure they'll sell out quickly.

Yes, the nice thing about the embryo adoption is that the adoption agency we used is very unique. The process took several years, but it allowed us to apply to the program and choose the adopting couple who then in turn chose us. They have undergone a home study and background check just as any adopting couple would, and agreed to provide letters and pictures at least once a year as a condition of receiving the embryos. That was a major deciding factor for us, we couldn't just give them away anonymously and wonder whatever became of them. We also couldn't just throw them away so this seemed like a win/win solution for everyone.

The couple is lovely and they have been trying for many years to have a baby. You wouldn't believe how happy and grateful they are, her words always bring tears to my eyes. We actually have a lot in common with them so it seems more and more like it was "meant to be". I don't know if I mentioned it here, but I was interviewed by a major magazine as a genetic parent who's chosen this option (now on newstands in France :teeth: ), and they refer other couples who are thinking about this as an option for themselves to me, too. All in keeping with my promise to God that I still have a lot to do on this earth so I need to stay for a fair amount of time longer. ;)

Kelly, I must have missed your post from last night, I just got an email notification about it  which made me look back. Still holding out hope that it's not cancerous. You will be in my prayers BIG TIME!! :grouphug:

Linda, we did not do EE. I actually liked EE last year when we stayed at OKW, at least the morning EE. I like mornings anyway, they seem much less crowded and that additional hour just makes it even better. The evening EE's last year seemed too crowded to us.

This trip most rides were walk ons. I did get fast passes but did not use them except for Peter Pan, Big Thunder, and Rock and roller Coaster.
I like going early, using fastpasses, getting more fastpasses to use later.
Several days this trip we did not return to the room until after 5 pm, no afternoon break. This works when the weather is so wonderful.

I hope your weather is just as good.

I did not see the thread about suites in the values. I thought the Pop legendary years buildings were on hold indefinitely. I do think suites there would be great. Was it supposed to be timeshare? Having a small suite kitchenette like the studio in OKW would be great. I hope this is not just a rumour. Let me know if you find that thread again. I think I'll search for it too.

I'm finally getting back to the boards after our long weekend at WDW. Expedition Everest was fun - going backwards in the dark is an unusual feeling. We rode 3 times in an hour on Friday morning, took a break to do the safari, etc., and went back for one more ride in the afternoon. We went back on Sunday morning 9am to ride one last time and the crowds were so heavy, we just left.

My prayers are with each of you, especially Beth and Kelly. GAGWTA!

Got the call today and it is cancer. Kinda too depressed to go into much more. Getting a PET next Tues. and next week I'll know if this it a metastisis or a new cancer in the lung.

Can't believe it. :(

Beth, I'm sitting here trying very hard not to cry. It's not working. :sad1:

You know we are here for you. I wish we could all be there to put our arms around you and cry with you, but for now this will have to do. :grouphug: Please keep us updated with how you are doing and what's happening.
