Praying for Lisa, Bill, Katie and Andrew. Hoping the Lord gives them strength and peace.

I am so sad she has been in this much pain.

My mom goes for her scope tomorrow, finally. I'm praying it's just her gall bladder. That's a much better scenario than some the doctors have discussed. I guess I'm mostly afraid that they'll either say this test was once again inconclusive or that it's cancer of the pancreas. I'd really rather deal with cancer again myself than have someone I love go through it. I know I'm tough and can take it on. And I don't know when we'll have the results. Mom didn't think to ask that. I'll keep you ladies informed. GAGWTA.

Thinking of your mom this morning, Merry.

This has been going on far too long. Hoping you get a definitive answer, and that it is NOT cancer.

I hope your fighting attitude is shared by you mom. I do understand your attitude about it being easier going through it yourself rather than seeing someone you love dealing with it. I think the same thought was expressed by Lisa's husband above.

Somehow too I think going through it actually makes you stonger, certainly not weaker.

Also, you have already faced the worst once.

There was a small article in my paper this maorning about the benefits of weight training for BC survivors. In a small study weight training helped improve patient's outlook on life, quality of life, more than non-weight training exercise.

I am wondering about this. I am walking and riding my bike. Anyone else here do weight training? In the study the women worked with a trainer.
I have been trying to decide to sign up with a gym. There just are not any nearby, except at LSU, and I am not an alum.

Hey, how about those Tigers Saturday, they are going to the Final four.

:rose:~~~***GAGWTA sistas***~~~ :rose:

I didn't get to see Lisa yesterday...
We were in church and hubby started not feeling well again so I took him to the ER. He's home, his heart rate was up, though not as bad as the last time. EKG and bloodwork were ok. He wore the 24hr heart monitor starting Fri. afternoon, but of course that was already off when he had this episode!

The other local sistas who made it to visit Lisa said she's in good spirits (as usual! :flower1: ) but her family is heartbroken... Her kids were there, crawling all over her, wanting her to play with their favorite toys! I thank God for them...

Hubby seems to be feeling ok this morning, his cardio appt is later this afternoon. I have an appt at 11:30 with my gyn/onc because I started spotting again Thur & Fri  so unless something comes up and he needs me to drive him to his appt., I'm hoping to go visit Lisa at the hospital after my appt. Just have to get back home in time to pick up the kids from school...how many more years until they get their driver's licenses??? :confused3

:grouphug:

Thinking of your mom today Merry and hoping for good results soon!!

Oh Laura....you sure have a lot on your plate today...sending lots of hugs and prayers and healing thoughts out to you and ALL your loved ones....

GAGWTA!!

Hoping your husband does better this week. Glad you are being proactive though and getting him to ER when he has these episodes.

Every minute can count sometimes.

Sorry you are still having problems too. With worrying about your DH, no wonder.

Amazing Lisa is in such good spirits. I am sure having her kids right there with her helps bunches. I prayed hard for her yesterday.

I have read this thread off and on over the past few months. I always found survivors such an amazing group of people....now it appears I was destine to join.

I was diagnosed with inflamatory breast cancer this past Thursday. I have had the CTs and bone scan but have been referred to the oncologist to start chemo immediately. I will find out the extent of my condition on Wednesday. At this point I'm trying to just breath. I told my 6 year old DD this morning. My heart is just breaking...I am just so scared....I HAVE to get thru this!!

Please pray for me and my family. I pray that I have strength that I read in so many of your posts.

Micki7337, I am truly sorry you were destined to join us. But I am glad you knew about the thread.

You will find the strength to fight this. You have a very good motivation in the form of your daughter.

You are at one of the most difficult stages, knowing you have cancer but not knowing the extent. I am not sure how much you know about inflammatory BC, I in fact know very little. There have been several ladies on this thread who were diagnosed with it. I think DisneyDebbie was one of them. I know there was another but the name escapes me at the moment.

Please feel free to ask any questions that occur to you. The beauty of this thread is that we ehlp each other with info, support, and distraction.
We will be here for you as best as we can through your journey. Please post again and let us know how things go Wednesday when you find out more about how you will fight this disease.

Laurie

micki7337- :welcome: Welcome to one of the best groups you never wanted to join! Please come often, we have all walked in your shoes and you are at probably the toughest place right now, not knowing what treatment will be like for you, so many unknowns. It seems easier in some ways once things get started, you get into a routine...it kinda feels like a job! I will absolutely be praying for you and your family sista! Now go follow the instructions on the 1st post on here and get yourself a pink ribbon! :Pinkbounc

I'm just back from visiting Lisa...I felt like I had her practically to myself! :goodvibes Apparently yesterday her hubby Bill felt like a bouncer, she had 25 people visit her! She is in good spirits. They had to start the I.V. morphine back up last night, she's on the PCA that will allow her to get a dose every 6 min., so everybody's trying to remind her to hit her button, lol!
A physical therapist was coming in as I was leaving to work with her on walking. She'll see her docs this afternoon to go over the game plan. It looks like that one tumor is on her left ovary and they think that may be the culprit causing her nerve pain and trouble walking, so they'll probably do rads instead of trying to remove it surgically because they want to get the chemo for her liver mets started. She's not sure when she'll get out of the hospital now. Hopefully not too long!

My appt. went well. She didn't see anything wrong but said sometimes there can be a problem where they close the incision at the top (trying not to get too graphic for the Dis!) so she put some medicine on anyway. Hubby is at his appt now, just waiting to hear.

It looks like my Siggy Bunny had twins!  How sweet! *sigh* I really needed that today!
:grouphug:

This is just a run-by post. I've stopped by home to put the dogs out, but it's time to get DD from school so I'm rushed.

Mom's scope went so well. The doc could see a stone in her gall bladder and nothing else that led to to believe there was any other culprit! Yippeeeeee! So now she's still facing gall bladder surgery, but that's much easier than some of the other options. Thanks for the good thoughts. It helped. I'll admit now that I was afraid.

Micki, I'll say more to you later. But for now just breathe. Keep coming here and we'll try to give you lots of prayers and hope. Wish you hadn't needed to join us, but since you're in the club, welcome.

Such good news about your mom, Merry. I am just so happy it looks like "only" a gall bladder stone. So good to know today rather than to have to wait even longer.

Merry, a big sigh of relief for your Mom. Looks like she and I will be having our choles together, LOL. :grouphug:

Laura, all I can say is  :flower3: Hope things are ok with your DH. I'm glad Lisa's in good spirits and less pain. :worried: I don't know what to say about your continued probs other than  too.

snappy, I haven't seen the study on weight training, do you have a link? I've been going to Curves for 3 years. The weights are hydraulic, and you get a cardio portion, too. For me it's had a big impact on how I look and feel.

micki, welcome. I'm sorry you have to join our ranks, but glad we can be here with you. Yes, DisneyDebbie and more recently, Monique, aka WeLoveDisney2, had IBC. I think Monique just completed her surgery after beginning chemo several months ago. She also has young children. Maybe you could PM her for moral support, she's lovely and I'm sure she wouldn't mind. When you go through this, part of your healing is helping others through it later. I'm sure you will find as much strength in yourself as you've seen in us. Once you get past the diagnosis part, you put your fighting shoes on... :furious: Hang in there. My twins were 12 days shy of their 6th birthday when I was diagnosed also. I really wondered whether I'd be around to see their 7th. I'm happy to report they'll be 9 in the fall :cheer2: :cheer2: but it's hard not to think that way when you're first diagnosed. You'll be in my prayers, please let us know how things go on Wednesday. :grouphug: :grouphug:

P.S. they are seeing wonderful results with herceptin now - there were articles in the paper last October saying it is responsible for majorly improving survival rates for IBC. As they say, timing is everything. And right now, the timing is perfect for you to have confidence that you will have excellent results with herceptin, too. BELIEVE IT!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for remembering about Monique, Linda. I'll see what I can find about the weight lifting. I saw in our local paper and it was on Fox news radio this am.

I have wondered about Curves. There is one a few miles from our house.
I really want to join something with and indoor pool too. We have a summer swim club membership for swim team, but I need an indoor.

micki....I'm so sorry you're going through this...but glad you came here ....it's such a good resource for support and information as well as diversion!! Many many postive thoughts and prayers heading to you...as the others have said once you have more info and a treatment plan you will feel more in control. And once you live through the shock of diagnosis..you ARE a SURVIVOR!! :grouphug:

Merry...good news about your mom! :thumbsup2

Laurabelle...continued P and PD for you and DH!

bubble...how are you doing????

keeping you all in my thoughts as always!!

Welcome to all the new "members" and sorry you had to find us!

I'm back among the living!

My port operation went fine. I was able to come home that afternoon, late. Just really felt out of it and tired for several days after that. had a lot of PAIN, more than I expected! I kinda felt bad about complaining about the pain and then I thought, well, if I wasn't supposed to have pain, the doc woudln't have prescribed this nice bottle of 30 Vicodin! So I starting taking my pain killers and felt much better, although sleepy!

It was really Saturday that I started feeling half way normal! That was my DS17's PROM!! DD20 didn't really do the PROM thing when she was in high school. She did go one year, but it was kinda last minute.

DS17 and his little girlfriend have been so excited about this night. It's great to see two wonderful kids as excited as I was 30 years about my Prom! She looked like a princess and he was quite the handsome gentleman. Her dress was pink with all the beautiful beading on the bodice. This tux was black, with a pink vest and bow tie. He did the whole hand corsage thing with pink and cream sweetheart roses. She loved it. He had a white rose as his boutinnaire. (sp??). Her parents came here with her and they had to pose for a gazillion pictures. Then off they went to a romantic dinner at this little Italian restaurant in the Market area. They said lots of diners were looking at them and smiling through the meal. Then they stopped by my parents' house for more pictures and finally made it to the dance at about 10pm. They had a wonderful time with friends and then went to an after prom party. Rhett had had big plans about partying all night, but they both pooped out at 2am! LOL! So he took her home and came home himself. Then they went out to breakfast Sunday morning. It was incredible to just immerse myself in something so ordinary, yet so special and beautiful! Cancer was a million miles away.

Wed. same DS leaves for his band for WDW! They are staying at Port Orleans. They are not marching in WDW, though. They are going to a competition outside Orlando. They'll be back Sunday , then we leave Tuesday for Sloan Kettering. I'll be glad when that's over with and we have a plan of action. I HATE waiting!

:grouphug: for Lisa and her family. She's my hero. God bless her.

Happy tonight,
Beth
