Hi All,

We are about ready to start the next round of our book club discussion group. I wanted to offer those interested the opportunity to suggest titles for us to read and chat about. If you have an idea, please post it here. I have a few of my own as well. :thumbsup2

Eat,pray,love

or whatever it's called. Looking forward to seeig the movie.

Okay I always say I want to join in the book club, but I never get the book in time! So I am going to to pay attention to these threads so I can seriously join in this time!

My parents both just read Little Bee by Chris Cleeve and they don't want to ruin anything for me, but they have said it's a must read.

I wouldn't mind doing Eat, Pray, Love especially since the movie is coming out (SO excited for!), but I'm not sure if it'd appeal to a large audience, specifically male readers. I will definitely put it on the list though as an idea.

Last one I didnt get into and I was a little quiet (okay a lot) on the previous few but I am looking for an excuse to read the Particular Saddness of Lemon Cake. I saw it on a summer reading segment the suggested it as a book club read.

Hi

what about 'the love verb' by Jane Green, I have just read it, very good...wont go into too much detail...but the other thing about it is that after each chapter there is a recipe..

I am glad to catch this thread in the beginning, I just missed the others and didn't want to start late. I wouldn't mind "Eat, Pray, Love" but I agree it might not appeal to all...

Looking forward to hearing more suggestions.

I like a lot of the suggested books...I wouldn't mind reading Eat, Pray, Love again anyway. :)

The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake was one of my ideas as well. The concept seems very interesting and could promote a lot of discussion.

Here's my 2 cents :goodvibes

1. Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

2. Sh*t My Dad Says by Justin Halpern

3. The Art of Racing in the Rain: A Novel by Garth Stein

4. This Is Where I Leave You: A Novel by Jonathan Tropper

I agree the eat, pray, love may not appeal, but was thinking about reading it on our Cali flight. Thought to kill 2 birds one stone.

Maybe a Million Little Pieces by James Frey. There is some controversy with the book from a few years ago, but am interested in reading this as well.

I'm getting ready to read The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake. I was not the least bit enthralled by Eat, Pray, Love.
The next book our book club is reading is One Day by David Nicholls. This book should be interesting.

We just finished Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan. Also, Walk Two Moons, by Sharon Creech. These two books were done for one meeting. Although they were used for one of the member's 4th grade class, I still enjoyed both of them and they were very well written, not 'childish' at all.

I just finished Stay, by Allie Larkin. A short read that was very entertaining, and very telling when it comes to the dynamics of the different relationships in our lives.

I loved Water for Elephants, and Riding Lessons, also by Sara Guen, but these seem so long for a book club.

The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake or One Day sound interesting to me. The Best Laid Plans by Terry Fallis is supposed to be very funny.

Books on my list:

Eat, pray, love- because I want to watch the movie :goodvibes
Little Bee - because it's part of my other book club...:rotfl:
The Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards
Say You're One of Them by Uwem Akpan

if i may be allowed to interject a male point of view into the mix, i am a voracious reader and although i am not a member of your club, i would like to recommend.........The Passage by Justin Cronin or The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by the late Stieg Larsson. the former is an end of the world as we know it story that almost reaches epic status and the latter is a gritty and sometimes shocking murder mystery with unforgettable characters.

Look at the Hunger Games it would appeal to both men and woman. Inspire a lot of conversations.

Water for Elephants, I am getting ready to reread it. ;)

Oh yeah I want to read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo too however I know me, once I read that I'm going to want to read the other ones too. :goodvibes
