The message boards at Cruise Critic for DCL cruises is rather Lame. BUT their message boards for RCCL are more in line with our good 'ol DIS Boards! Recently RCCL began offering parties for Cruise Critic groups of 25 or more. GEE -- I'd bet that every 7 day cruise on Disney would qualify for a DIS party. We all know that DCL reads these boards. So -- would you like for DCL to provide a 'party' for DIS Groups?

This is a copy of the info from the RCCL website regarding the cruise critic parties.
You already know the Cruise Critic web site is a great place to get the inside scoop on the world of cruising. Now, Royal Caribbean and Cruise Critic have combined efforts to offer a great way to get to know your fellow cruisers even before you step onboard, and then meet your new friends shipboard in a fun, casual party atmosphere.

Imagine walking onto the pool deck of your cruise ship and a group of people call your name to come sit with them, or bumping into a familiar face in the elevator, or strolling into the dining room and knowing people at so many different tables. "As the saying goes, you can never have too many friends."

And getting together is easy! First you use your Reservation ID/Booking Number to register for a Royal Caribbean/Cruise Critic Party on any 7-night or longer cruise vacation. Then, once you’ve registered, you can follow the links and go to the Royal Caribbean message boards on CruiseCritic.com to start or join a message about your cruise. It’s a great way to meet your fellow cruisers, share tips and prepare for your Royal Caribbean adventure.

Once your party has a minimum of 25 people registered, Royal Caribbean will make it official by providing a complimentary room and light refreshments. Then, two weeks before your sail date, an e-mail confirming the party will be sent to the contact for your Reservation ID. And, before you know it, it’s "Bon voyage!"

Sounds great! The cost to Disney would be minimal, but the good will would be great.

Isn't that just the greatest thing! Wouldn't cost much for the cruise line, but what an encouraging way to get people together who may have been too shy otherwise!

Disney...are you listening! We like this idea!!

Sounds great to me, too - since we ARE having a DIS party on the 10/12 Magic! But it's in our suite and the cost is on all of us, not Disney! :)

We have about 18-20 DIS'ers for a wine tasting and lite lunch at our suite on thursday afternoon, with everyone bringing a bottle or 2 of wine, and room service for sandwiches, etc.

Can't wait! It would be nice if Disney was hosting it though!

'Beano'

What a great idea! If we could get the Captain or some of the Officers to stop by it would be awesome.

What a cool idea! I sure hope DCL is paying very close attention to this thread! With all the neat people we've already "met" for our 7/27/02, that whole week will be a party for us! :D

this would be so much fun! like RCCL says, just imagine walking up and someone calling out your name. that would be like coming home...

DISboard cruise party would be much appreciated on the Nov 30th 7day Eastern cruise. There are already about that many of us already going.

I agree! It would definitely attract the shy crowd. Please DCL include this party!
Thanks!
Laurie

There are scores of us DIS'ers who booked for January 2002 because of info provided here that now have fall 3 day cruises booked for the $99 special. Good time to start an official get together. I think this is a great idea amd hope the powers to be that decide read these boards.

I just got the cruise critic newsletter in my e-mail and it had that in it. I thought the same thing....wouldn't it be great if Disney hosted a DIS part when there were 25 or more. While many of us are return cruisers and would go to that party some are new and it would be a nice treat for all of us.

It doesn't have to be as much as the returning cruisers party, something more along the lines of the DVC get together with chips, pretzels, nuts and drinks.

I hope someone from Disney is reading this!

Hey Pete - Is this something that you would be able to request? Possibly you could print this threads replies and send them to DCL with your request.
:p

Great Idea ....

Last year the Cruisetoberfest had about 26 or so families on it and this year the DIS Cruisears of 9-28-02 has about 22+- families on it.

Call me goofy, but don't most of us return cruisers that are on the DIS talk up the cruises and recruit otheres?

If Disney dosen't do something on this, PETE - it would be good advertisement for your company!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
