We pack about 1/2 the clothes we need with the plan to do laundry when staying at the DVC. I'm proud of us, because when we went the last time right before Christmas, everyone had a carry-on and personal item,
NO CHECKED LUGGAGE! The travel expert on NBC said "When you travel during the holidays, there are 2 kinds of luggage, carry-on and lost. Checked luggage adds 90 minutes to your airport experience."

He was right, it was nice to have a laundry facility and travel light.

We're getting ready for our trip and DH says to me "It'll be nice to come home with clean clothes". When we sailed with RCCL there were no laundry facilities so he appreciates Disney even more now ;)
If I said something like that, my wife would say, "Oh my gosh...how sweet of you! I'll gather everything together and separate it into lights and darks for you. What a nice idea for you to do!"

I bring home clean laundry, and unpacking is so much easier then. BTW, if you pack correctly, it doesn't wrinkle much. This trip we just got home from, I had a bit too much room in the suitcase. We took Christmas gifts for our DS and his fiancee', since they met us at Disney instead of coming home for the holidays. On the way home I had lots of extra space, and things did get a bit wrinkled.

LOL :rotfl:

I have thought of saying that to him, but DH works hard so I can stay at home. I'd like for him to do the laundry and he would if I asked, I just choose not to.

Alas, now I have teenage boys and I tell them to do it! :teeth:

We bring home mostly clean clothes. It's so easy just to throw a tub in to wash. We're not packing as many clothes either.

And I really like not having to wash all those dirty clothes when we get home.

It really doesn't take that much time. :confused3

In the morning we throw in a load, then when we come back in the afternoon we put that in the dryer. When we come back for the night, we fold them while watching tv. We don't sacrifice portions of our day to do laundry.

We come home with both dirty and clean clothes. I envy those of you who are able to travel with just one suitcase. We usually have 5 or 6 suitcases and they are BIG rolling suitcases. We take so much stuff with us, pillows, a fan ( I need white noise at night to sleep ), goggles, pool bags, dress bags, an umbrella, ponchos, back pack, I could go on and on and on...I don't know how some of you do it, I wish I could minimize but I always figure I would rather have it than wish I did.

I always have the opposite problem. I pack light, but seem to always wind up buying more new t-shirts, sweatshirts, souvenirs, etc. than will fit in the bags we take! On more than one occasion, we have had to buy new bags at Disney so we had luggage to pack in...

As for the original post, I voted clean, since we normally get a 1-bedroom and do the laundry before we come home. We're in a studio at the BW this next trip, so may not get it done, but we'll see....

Clean....and believe it or not, we even leave a stack of towels that have been washed and folded!!

Hey, Bucky, good to see you around again! We have missed you at the last few Twin City DIS meets.

I was expecting to bring home souveniers this trip, because I knew I would have lots of extra room in the case, but somehow I never had time to do much shopping this time! I was too busy having fun with our whole family there. It was the first time in 5 years, so we had a lot to do!

I'm the laundry-master in our household. In the villas, I'll do the laundry from day to day so we always have fresh towels and undies. But at the end of the trip I bring everything home dirty. I don't want to spend my last day at WDW sorting laundry, and in any case I'd much rather do it in our big machines at home.

In a 1 BR and up we do laundry without any loss of park or other time by doing as others have said- throw it in when we get up and dry it later if it isn't done before we leave for the day. In a studio doing laundry at the pool is just a few minutes less sun time and we always plan at least one day of down time anyway. I have solved the last day dirty laundry and lack of suitcase space for souvenirs by packing my mickey carpetbag or another duffel in the suitcase on the way down. I then put the dirty clothes in that so they are easy to drop off in the laundry room once we get home and it leaves room for those extras we always seem to buy.

And to waste one, single thought on laundry on my vacation...What are you crazy???!!!???

That is EXACTLY how I feel when people talk about COOKING while on vacation! As far as laundry goes I never thought about doing any until our last trip in November when my sister and her family shared a 2 bedroom with us. She started throwing in a load here and there before bed so I did the same and it was wonderful to come home with clean clothes. So I know I will do our laundry on future trips but COOKING - well that's something I can't see myself ever wanting to do!

One of my favorite things about DVC is the ability to throw a load in every night, toss it in the dryer later in the evening or next am and fold the clothes in a couple of minutes next evening. Love going home with clean clothes but even more so appreciate packing less.

All right, you have all convinced me. If I had to walk to to the laundry room, I would NOT try this, but since we're staying in a DVC 2BR next time, I will try the "throw a load in the washer in the am, and the dryer pm" strategy. My mother will probably keel over in shock to see me do this but it sure does sound nice to not have piles to do when we come home....
