A girlfriend of mine ran in the Seattle one this past May and said it was great. It was all women so it was more relaxing in her opinion. The same friend and I ran in the Dirty Dash last weekend and she said the Dirty Girl course was nicer, in terms of the mud pits being more controlled....some of the DD ones were huge trip hazards!
I thought that the DD was a great experience and loads of fun.
I just did the dirty girl in June, it was awesome! We ran inbetween all the obstacles but plenty of ladies were walking too. There was usually a line for each obstacle so you get a break to catch your breath! The obstacles were challenging but fun and very doable. I recommend it!
I have done a number of these "fun runs" with obstacles. One thing to consider - it is easy to get injured on these runs. I see a lot of turned ankles, twisted knees, etc. This really isn't a big deal if you are just running for fun, but if you are in the middle of a training program in preparation for a big race, you might want to reconsider. A turned ankle can set your training back 6 weeks or more.
I did the one in Virginia Beach this year! We did it for fun, so walked the whole thing and just spent a lot of time chatting and cheering each other on. I would absolutely do one again - just one note, the "shower" tent at the end was a joke. A few hoses with no water pressure, and a *TON* of ladies trying to get clean. We just rinsed off our feet and hands, and put on trash bags over our clothes to ride back to the hotel.
I did my first Dirty Girl Run in April in Georgia. It was so much fun!! There was a group of about 10 ladies that I did it with. The activity levels of these women varied greatly--most were VERY out of shape & almost struggled. We walked between each of the obstacles. Our course was VERY hilly. Playing in the mud & getting dirty is not something that is typical of my personality, but I am SO glad that I did it!! Just wear old clothes/shoes!! & take a set of clothes to change into...they have make-shift "showers" aka..waterhoses! to rinse off & changing area. My advice is to do it with friends!! Great laughs & memories. We did it in memory of a coworker that recently passed away from breast cancer. I know she was laughing at us that day!!
