Dirt/Unclean Villa!!!!!

Is there an email for DVC customer service I can sent photos of our villa to. We are new to DVC (joined in early 2010)........this was our first experience with staying on property with our points and I was less than impressed. We brought my parents with us and were embarrassed when we went to our 2 bedroom villa (AKV)and the bedroom they were staying in had not been touched (dirty towels, unmade beds, a toilet that REALLY needed to be flushed/cleaned!). My 43, but felt like a dumb kid in front of my mother when I opened the door to show them where they were going to stay and………………..:sad2:

Was it a lock-off? It may have been that housekeeping was trying to mark the 1 BR as cleaned, and accientally marked the studio as such as well.

Either way, I'm certain it's an honest mistake. I'm not sure if they use handheld or the phone system to status rooms. A typo can cause this sort of unfortunate thing.

If they don't immediately correct the situation when you report it, now that's a member satisfaction issue.

I think in this case I would be at the front desk asking for a manager as well just to let them know the issues. We always leave the sleeper sofa open when we use it on the day we leave. That way at least there is some expectation that the sheets will be replaced and that they will clean it if needed. If it is closed up mousekeeping probably does not even look at it.
It sounds as if neither of these things were done.

Good luck and hope the rest of your stay is magical and that they take care of the refrigerator before the food can spoil.
They literally brought in a new fridge at MIDNIGHT. :thumbsup2 My wife was asleep in the master and my boys were out on the pull outs. The maintenance men were extremely nice about it and courteous. But emptying out your fridge and re-stocking it was not my idea of fun. oh well.

I will definitely be writing a letter to DVC when I get back. Hopefully with this nonsense past us, we can move forward and have a good time the rest of the trip.

IF a room condition issue was a rarity I would agree this is not a big deal. But this type of compliant is so common these days I believe it highlights a big problem. There are posts nearly everyday along this line, a room not touched, a room with broken appliances, a room with blown light bulbs, a room with missing pillows or plates, etc. All these issues can be placed at the feet of housekeeping. They are the last cast member in the room. It would take less than 3 minutes to verify that all lights worked, all faucets worked, all appliances were present and working, etc. If something was not working notify maintenance. Done.

The last room I checked into at BLT had not been cleaned, only straightened up. The coffee pot had old grounds in it. There were used dip pouches left in the cabinet under the sink (you could smell them! I had to look around to find them). There was makeup on the bathroom counters. The kitchen counters had food encrusted on them. The room was left in a condition that appeared clean but once you really looked it was filthy. I cleaned each problem as I found it thinking it was the last one or I would have had a manger inspect the cheated room.

Every room I have checked into over the past five years has had lights that did not work, a broken faucet (how did HK not use water in the kitchen to clean?) leaking showers, missing clocks, missing second set of linens, missing plates, towels, etc, etc. I have had to call HK or maintenance every time to get the room straightened out.

I had checked into the BC one night to find missing linens. I called HK and waited for their delivery. And waited. And waited. I called again 45 minutes later as my three year old was waiting to go to bed and again waited for their delivery. And waited. And waited. After two hours of waiting and calling I made a permanent stance at the front desk and refused to leave until the linens were delivered. Two and half hours after being told the linens would be "right there" I had the sheets but never an apology.

There is a long history of substandard housekeeping service at DVC. This is big problem and should be addressed with aggression.

Wow. You hit the nail on the head. I'm definitely finding that out this trip. The new fridge had an icemaker that didn't work. They had to come and replace the ice maker. The kitchen sink is missing the aerator spout. That's tomorrow's call. And the last day we're here the call will be about the caulk that's completely torn away from the shower and probably leaking eater between the floors.

This is exactly what I do. My pillows are off of the bed, just as in the picture, because the bed is not made. Clearly a mistake. I have never (knock on wood) checked into a dirty room at Disney.
Same here. Those pictures look very much like how we leave the villas other than we never have the bedspreads on the beds. Those are taken off right away the first night we sleep in the villa.

so sorry for the bad first impression. [ i hope they made it
up ( the room too) in a disney special kind of way.

this would bother me too. not disney or the mistake. that can
happen anytime, @ or any resort. instead it was the conditions you
mentioned that is so bothersome. what kind of dvc guests
left the room is such a poor condition?! especially the bathroom-
had a "passive & aggressive" message all over it. { if i had rented
my points & discovered that the renters did something liked this,
they would never rent from us again } guess they didn't leave
any tips. if it was done by owners, my first guess would be from
a different resort with envy, or an anger issue over something
else. either way, sure hope they never stay near us.

.

Is it me, or does this "passive-agrressive" comparison just seem odd? While we don't leave towels on the floor, I usually leave the beds un-made when we leave and throw all the dirty towels in the tub. Not sure what else a "good guest" should be doing? :confused3

That is what we do, beds unmade, start the dishwashwer and put all towels in the tub.

hi, :wizard: ,

well from reading the posts, it seem i need to explained more so
others are able to follow.

my responses/input were not aimed @ the room , the original poster,
or anyone else responding. however, there were certain details that
raised my feelings. i am not trying to influence others toward any
direction except to express what we would do- if we ever rented.

what makes dvc a home? the ways the original poster described her
experience made sense to me. darn it!-that was terrible for a first time.

noticed she capped "really"- needing a cleaning? she even mentioned
her age....& knowing how guarded my wife is about certain body
language, painted an over the top mess. then added how she was
embrassed, & i can understand how she wanted her parents to
have been impressed with their "new investments".

my feelings were for the workers. they may have the duty to room clean,
but i think the prior guests were nasty. i think anyone doing their jobs
@ their very best effort are worthy of respect. we have this habit
of decorating any room were in, making it our "headquarters."

disney has a image. i felt like this was very bad luck, that this room
was overlooked. i don't think it was done purpose. but who is
going to hear it?-for the negative impression left behind by some
very un-like guests? yuk! i sure hope it wasn't the poor workers.

just a tad off the topic, but in my professional we are redirecting
this type of intrusive- dumping & projecting pattern frequently.
life does have inherited rights. the area where many go off
track? forgetting that others have the same rights. funny thing,
a person "rights" also have "conditions", there are called responsibilities.

summer 209- i saw the brazilians throwing gum @ the resort grounds.
i went over & asked her to pick it up-we don't go & trashed your
country-please don't do ours. we happened to think wdw is a
very special place & we liked to keep it that way.

past christmas 2110, while waiting for ariel, met a nice family-
from chicago- but had moved from brazil years earlier. she
was a mother with 2 small children. we became friends in line.
{long line-:rolleyes1}. she told me while she was sitting on the
monorail, another family from brazil got on. she came up to her\&
ordered her "up.". needless to say , she put her in her place.

i noticed there were quite a few cm's from brazil. they were very
nice & professional.

we been cleaning our dvc rooms before leaving. however, i don't
think leaving a trash can full or a towel on the floor is damaging
or wrong.

one vacation { before dvc }, i made a friend @ csr. it was fun riding
around with him {golf cart } and helping him pick up guests &
handing out stickers. also it was fun hearing about their trips/parks
& some of his past guests -- :rolleyes1.

the lessons for me, is to do our home~work before renting out, to
double check our room before leaving & to add more details
to my posts.

First of all, I fail to see what a nationality has to do with anything on this thread. Secondly, You must have lived a long time to be alive both in 209 and into the future of 2110! LOL Sorry, but typos always cause me to giggle a lot. That's mostly because I make a lot of funny ones too!;)
