Is anyone here a member of this club? Has it really saved you any money? What are the fees?

I got this thing in the mail with an invitation to visit one. But it's a two-hour drive from me. I just don't know if it's worth it or not to take the trip to hear their schpiel.

I asked a friend who is familiar with it about it. She said that it is worth it if you plan on building a house or buying a house full of furniture. She didn't know the exact price but thought it was about $3K. She said that some of her friends have gotten together a bunch of friends and bought a membership.

I figured it would be expensive when a salesperson called me, but that's UNBELIEVABLE.

Seems like I heard you have to purchase at the time of your presentation. Not sure I would like to be commit to one of these plans.

It is NOT cheap! That said, if you've got plans to furnish or remodel a home, it does pay for itself relatively quick. If you're a savvy shopper and know pricing, you can do VERY well with it. We can't dwell on the fact that the appliances we bought prior to joining could have been ours for a LOT less.

Yes, you have once shot at membership-if you don't join before walking out the door, you do not get another chance. The day we joined, I think 1/3 of those at the presentation did it.

Rafiki, we do a lot of our shopping on the member's website and don't visit the local warehouse as much. My advice is to prepare to spend at least three hours the day you go for the presentation. If you are debating joining after hearing about it, you will want to spend time perusing their books-DH and I knew in looking at the books for stuff we planned on buying that it would be beneficial for us.

We also had a couple of items (lighting fixtures) that we knew we'd have an extremely hard time finding around here. Direct Buy has them.
