I'm not sure if it would be any closer for you than Detroit, but have you looked at flights out of Flint? That is where we have flown out of for our last 2 trips to Disney, and are booked out of Flint again for this July. It is only an hour forty minutes from Grand Rapids, plus the most I have paid for a ticket is $190 including taxes and fees.

I just looked at the Direct Air site, and they only hav dates listed thru the end of September. Plus they only fly on Friday and Monday. Maybe that works for you, but unfortunately, it doesn't for me.

Flint isnt much closer, we would have to jog in from I-94 to get there. We are right on Lake MI. So its an hour to Grand Rapids but I refuse to pay that much! 2 1/2 hours to Midway (I hate the last hours worth of traffic! I feel like I am playing chicken the whole way!!!!) 2 1/4 hours up 94 to Detroit, not a bad drive but a long one on the way home. South Bend is a little over an hour away but I havent found much at a price I am willing to pay.

So Kalamazoo by default this time. Usually we take Airtran from DTW or MDW, we love airtran! Hate the drive! Factoring in gas, car wear and tear, stressed driving (Midway!) & parking fees its enough to make you crazy.

If Direct Air isnt the best we will get along alright, its vacation! We can be dropped off by family, start our vacation off with less stress and just go with the flow!

(Plus I only paid $127.50 rt per person! Beats my best Airtran deal of last November at $139.)

Wow! How did you get $127.50? I bought their family fare deal and got $140 (including tax and seat assignment - but not luggage). I would like to use them more for our summer trips and would like to know what a good deal is for them. If there are no deals, I think it is around $200 + taxes which is too much, IMO for the risk you take with them.

There was a half off code on the budget board. I was leaning at $179rt on South West from Midway before I saw the code.
