Last week we got an automated call from Direct TV to confirm an installation for Monday(yesterday). The problem is that we never ordered Direct TV. The call gave you prompts to press to confirm the appointment, reschedule the appointment and to cancel the appointment. I hit the cancel prompt. I then had to speak to a rep.
He asked me for the name on the account. I explained to him that I didn't order the install and didn't want to give him my name. He said that without my name, he couldn't help me. He couldn't verify anything with a phone number. He said that there was nothing that he could do for me and then said "thank you for choosing Direct TV" and hung up on me.
Every day since, I've been getting automated calls from Direct TV to remind me about filling out my rebate form.
Not only is it annoying but I'm assuming that if the people that did order this are ever late on their bill that Direct TV will be calling me.
I've tried calling them again today with no luck.
Any ideas on how to get my phone# out of their records?
