In case anyone isn't aware, Eurostar will be releasing dates for the direct train up to, and possibly including, October 2013 on the 2nd or 3rd of January.
^^^I know I thing mid Jan after they tickets are on sale I will have to ring and put myself for the end Nov as want to go next year to see Xmas... still didn't decide if we should go for 3 or 4 nights but hopefully after our March trip I will know and tickets wont go on sale before then...
I have! I was going to do an update about this actually as I learned something I didn't know before.
I was told by several people at Eurostar that the dates up to October would be released today or tomorrow so I was ready with a couple of possible dates.
I called at 9am this morning and gave them my dates (both Monday to Wednesday trips) but was told the price for one return ticket was way over £100 so definitely not the cheapest available, ie £69. When I questioned why the price was so high already I was told that the tickets had actually been on sale for a couple of days. I asked then why had I been told to call today and was told that today was the first day that the regular booking line could sell the tickets BUT they were available to other parties such as travel agents and group bookings before this.
So, if you ever call on the first day tickets are released and can't get the best price this is why!!
Luckily I changed my dates to a Wednesday-Friday trip and managed to get the cheap tickets but it's still frustrating that so many of these are gone before the general public can even access them
Oh, and the dates weren't online this morning but they are now.
Thanks for the reply! I just managed to book mine, did it through Avios as I had enough points for one free ticket, but of course prior to reading your reply I wasn't even sure if it would only be direct through Eurostar they were available.
All booked now for 5 days in mid September, we already had SL booked
Ooh,glad i held off booking, had a look for the dates id planned and they wanted £328 for 3tickets but if i go the day before then that drops to £213.50!!now just need to find an exrra £70 and i can go book them!
DH phoned up at 8 am yesterday morning when I believe the seats went on sale. We wanted to go in September and we had to book a Wednesday to Sunday holiday in order to get the £69 return for adults.
Looked at our tickets and despite DH saying Ebbsfleet for boarding; the tickets have got St Pancreas on them! E mailed Eurostar and they said we are fine to board at Ebbsfleet; but going to take a copy of e mail just in case.
Apparently direct trains from 22nd Oct - 2nd Nov can't be booked because of engineering works, but you can book the Lille train and change. Not really sure why that train wouldn't be affected by engineering works too.
