According to the Dippin' Dots Web Page, they are celebrating their 15th birthday this year.

Ummm - I don't know how to tell those folks this....

BUT IT IS THE FUTURE!!!!

Cheesh - might be time to hire an ad agency again, guys....;)

Hiya Bernie

LOL! I *hate* Dippin' Dots - just absolutely hate them!

I was forced into having a free sample some 5/6 years ago and thought they were disgusting... have avoided their stalls ever since in case I was coerced into downing some more - yuck!

No offence to anyone who likes them of course, but I prefer proper ice cream :)

Cya,
Gaspode

they just don't compare to the classic ice cream... why change a good thing!!

We were joking about that this weekend. Thought maybe they should be "Ice Cream of the present" now. In a few years, "Ice Cream of the past." I never understood the fascination with them.

I too have never seen the appeal. Nor have my kids. Just give us regular, creamy ice cream, without anything in it.

I think that they are a fun amusement park food! Like deep fried Oreos and Funnle Cakes.

LOL! It's kind of like "Tomorrow Land".... still the future even when it is 30 years old! LOL!

My kids always has to get some of those when we go places that sell them. They're too waxy for me.

I feel the same way about them, Shannon - but my kids love 'em!

LOL, Carol! Yesterday's ice cream.....today! :teeth:

They do have that kinda a retro-future thing going on, Laura!

Banzai - have you ever seen them anywhere but amusement parks? I never have! I wonder how they came to target parks??

Snoops and Denise - I'm sorely missing some regular old strawberry ice cream as I'm on Atkins. A warm summer night, out on the deck with a nice bowl of ice cream.....MMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmm......

Gaspode! Forced Dippin' Dot consumption?!?!?!? I can see where you'd be scarred for life!!!

LOL! When they first came out at our State Fair about 15 years ago, we tried them and thought they tasted like air!!! I doubt there are many calories in Dippin' Dots! A couple of years ago, that was the ONLY "ice cream" treat available at Twins games!! Many of us season ticket holders gave negetive feed back for that on our end of year questionnaire, and the next year they were NOT back!:bounce:

Some kids like 'em ... I'm not sure why.

Of course, they are probably the same kids who
like those sour balls or warthogs or warheads or
whatever those yucky things are called.
"Tiggers don't like warheads!" ... LOL

Course, gimme my espresso and a nice bowl of ...
you guessed it ... chocolate with reese's cups... yumyum.

Nice to enjoy it on the intergalactic transporter in Tomorrowland... LOL

Count me among those who really don't care for them! My younger DD however really likes them!

My children all enjoy the ocasional bowl of dippin dots..........I prefer a nice regular chocolate almond cone!:D

I actually like Dippin Dots, though I don't eat them in place of real ice cream. I think they are good for what they are (whatever that is, LOL), but not as good as ice cream by a lot shot. They sell them at some of the malls in our area.

My son James is absolutely addicted to Dippin' Dots. For the entire two weeks that we were at WDW, all he could talk about was stopping at the HUGE Dippin' Dots store on 192 in Kissimmee. On our trips to Cedar Point, he insists on stopping for Dippin' Dots TWICE. And at $4 a serving!!!

Personally, I've never tried them. With James around, I think that Dippin' Dots future profits are guaranteed.

And don't get me started on Ramen noodles.

Man, I LOVE Dippin Dots. The Banna Split and Chocolate Mint are my two favorites :) Yummy! I never did understand why they were called The Ice Cream of the Future. I guess it's one of those things like flying cars and vaccations to the moon that were suppose to be a big thing by the year 2000 and they just never did make it.

They are available in places other than amusment parks. I have seen them at several different malls. Vista Ridge I know has a Dippin Dots stand.

They are pretty pricey. I've always wondered how come I can't buy like a gallon of them. Do you know how long a gallon would last??? Man, those little dots don't look like much but they'll fill you up! I always wanted to have some in my freezer because it's so much easier than scooping regular ice cream. But I think the reason they don't sell it in bulk is because it has to be kept at like a bellow zero temperature or something else really cold. That's the only thing I can figure.

Yay! I'm not the only person around here who likes them. Those chocolate mint ones -- Mmmmm.

Our treat at Space Center Houston is "Space Dots" (yes, they are Dipping Dots, but Space Dots are COOLER!). I think part of the attraction is how super cold they are. My parents bought all of us Family Passes to Space Center, so we go pretty often, and every time my kids beg for Space Dots, and everytime I am right there with them:)

WOW, they've been around 15 years and this is the FIRST I've ever even heard of them!

I looked up the locations in FL and the only places around here seem to be places I don't go to -- Florida Aquarium, Busch Gardens, Celebration Station, and a movie complex that I don't frequent.

They don't sound too appealing. But, to each his own...

LOL Bernie! Maybe some day, while they are still the ice cream of the future, I will get around to trying them :teeth:
