So I'm a ride wimp working on expanding my comfort zone. I did Star Tours today and loved it. So what do you think -- will I probably be ok on Dinosaur, or no, Dinosaur is much worse/better? I worry more about motion sickness than noise/scary fake dinosaurs.

thanks for any opinions...AK awaits!

If your worry is more motion sickness I think Dinosaur is easier. It's scarier for children because it's a much more unpredictable, jerky environment. But if the issue is motion sickness I think Star Tours makes you lurch forward so far and then pulls you back... it's a slower movement but with a greater range... more akin to the rocking of a boat, and to me that is more likely to cause motion sickness. Dinosaur is intense in it's own way, but is more bumpy/jerky/jostling. Just go on Mission Space Orange and be done with it.

You are a crazy man Bill Brasky! But thanks for the ride comparison. Believe me, it would not be kind to any fellow riders if I did Mission Space! They do stop the ride for nervous breakdowns, correct? :)

I was actually scared while on Dinosaur, only because it's pretty dark and your cart/vehicle is jerked from side to side quite a bit and you don't really know where you're going. BUT, I felt more sick/uneasy after getting of Star Tours than I did on Dinosaur. Star Tours wasn't scary, but I felt worse after that than Dinosaur. So, I don't know lol. They're both fun, but scary I would go with Dinosaur, uneasiness I would go with Star Tours.

Dinosaur is more jerky but much more fun.

Star Tours is boring and silly. Not being a Star Wars fan, I didn't even know who was talking most of the time or what was going on. The Simpsons (at Uni) is like 500,000 times better than Star Tours. ST has a cute queue, though.

Unless you have serious motion sickness issues, I think you'd be fine on both rides.

I am a scaredy cat, and my hubby said dinosaur wasn't bad so I went on.... Yikes! But honestly I would do it again, just close your eyes when it gets too much, I did! Also sit in the MIDDLE if you can. I actually had one of my favorite experiences when I went on this with my young son. He is very daring, so I asked him to ride on the end, rather than me, of course he wouldnt so I got stuck on the end. Well I won't ruin it for you, but their is one intense part and my son was screaming for me to sit with him. I always thought it was so cute how he was trying to "save" me. So see it ended up being a good expereince for me. My DD went on when she was younger with her dad and she would not talk to him for a few hours after. So we have a little history with dinosaur.
I say go for it!

IF you are easily scared, Dinosaur is the end-all of fright at Walt Disney World. IMO it easily gives Tower of Terror a run for it's money in the "scarring children emotionally for life" category.

With that said, I laugh a lot in spookhouses and at seeing other people act so irrationally when scared. So for me dinsosaur is HILARIOUS and is the best laugh I get in all of WDW outside of the "that guy" skit at the Monster's Inc Laugh Floor.

As far as motion sickness, I think on Dinosaur you spend so much time being in mortal fear (or in my case uncontrollable laughter) that motion sickness simply doesn't come into play. It's not simulator so to speak, but a really elaborate dark ride with REAL dinosaurs. They only lose abotu one out of ten vehicles though, so the odds are on par with the Jungle cruise for a good time. ;)

:lmao:

(I am kidding on the getting eaten by dinosaurs part. I've never been eaten myself so you can take my word for it :rolleyes1)

I think Dinosaur is very scary and I've been on it many times! The first time I was on the outside, you should see the picture! :scared1: I almost cried. It's still scary to me, but i still ride it. Too much fun not to. Star Tours isn't scary at all, kinda exciting riding through space. :thumbsup2

Star Tours is more thrilling in terms of motion, but Dinosaur is more frightening in terms of psychological and sensory immersion.

That said, I think you'll be all right.

 You DID NOT just say that. You won't like me when I'm angry ;). As for the topic, Dinosaur is scarier thanks to those dinos, but my favorite is more intense in motion.

Anyone know of a site that lists all rides and gives you info like how many drops there are, is it a dark ride, scary sounds, and so on? I avoided Dinosaur because I wasn't sure what is was like. I don't care about roaring dinosaurs, but I hate drops and am terrified on every ride just waiting for the possible drops. :scared1:

My 9 you walked off Dinosaur in tears. He had NO problem with Star Tours.

He was very shaken when he walked out of the gift shop and absolutely did NOT want his little sister to ride this ride. He said it was very jerky and very loud. Dino's screamed in his face.

Three years later he has no interest in riding again.

Another ride chicken here- and I love Dinosaur!!! Dinosaur is only scary, IMO, for the "jump outs" but that's the worst part of it. It is a load of fun- no drops! Star Tours is fun but it makes me queasy- but I was terrified of it too the first time I rode it. Do Dinosaur! :thumbsup2

I rode Dinosaur once and I think my eyes were closed most of the time. I remember it being dark, with flashes of light, lots of noise and jerky moves. I had my eyes closed and was leaning towards my DD for the picture. She was 7 and was looking right at the dinisaur! My family got a laugh out of that pic!I still don't know if I will attempt a ride this trip.

I'm sorry. I'm very, very sorry to all the Star Wars fans who love this ride.

But from the viewpoint of someone who isn't a fan of either SW or the Simpsons, the latter hit a home run while the former...well, I'm not going to say it again. I know the first rule of holes.

Many people, many opinions. The world don't move to the beat of just one drum.

:teeth:

I will ride ANYTHING and I HATE Dinosaur...I walk off every time and think "I have no desire to do that again." But then, someone new wants to go on next time and I go again. And HATE it.

Loud, jerky, loud, scary for kids, loud (I am always hyperaware of little children who are riding it, and spend the whole time feeling sorry for them).

You don't have to worry. Dinosaur is jerky and bumpy but less motion sickness than the other.

I was terribly sick after riding Star Tours BOTH times we rode it. How my Fiance was able to talk me into riding it a second time is beyond me!! I think it was the 3D/motion combination because I can handle both green and orange Mission Space no problem.
I didn't get one bit of motion sickness on or after Dinosaur and was able to ride it several times. The first time however, I did have the crap scared out of me... it has much more of a scare factor than Star Tours.

No problem. I'm a fan of both SW and The Simpsons myself. :)
