Dinosaur ride at AK

IMO, it's the surprise factor that does it. You're in the dark and disoriented and then something pops up in front of you. I rode it at 24 and was scared witless. I rode most of the last half of the ride with my eyes clothes so I wouldn't have to startled. DH even admitted it was unnerving. And we are thrill ride freaks - before child, we would travel all over the country to ride roller coasters. We saw a Mom dragging her young child onto the ride and then saw the kid hysterical at the end of the ride. I felt so bad for her - and her Mom was completely insensitive about the situation. It's not the ride movement that's scary. I wouldn't take a 6 year old on it.

My ds 11 does not like it because it is so dark. He tried it at least, more than I can say for myself lol He loves thrill rides, this is just one that is not for him. Not all children are the same.

I am shocked so many people have said their children were so scared

I was very scared on this ride and I am an adult! The kids in my car all left crying. The big dino was really close on the left side and front of the car. I would not take a 6 year old on this ride. Even though I found it enjoyable yet scary, I think some kids would just find it scary.

I know all children are not the same. The point I was trying to make is that people are making it sound so terrifying, worse then Rockin Rollorcoaster and TOT. And I understand to some children will be scared (I have seen children crying after Peter pans flight and the teacups) but I just didn't want LynnMcD to just cross it off her list (which she did not ;) ), and her child would miss what is many childrens favorite ride. Moms do know best,
but children are always full of surprises.

I'm concerned about the bumpiness of the ride for my 73-year-old father, who is in great health but is still in his 70's! He saw the ride on the Travel Channel and said "No way!"...but I really want to go on it (but it will be just the two of us and I'm not leaving him alone...goodness knows where he'd wander off to!).

I think this ride is OK, but it's not a favorite. I might have liked it more if I hadn't ridden Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye at Disneyland first. Indy uses the same ride technology as Dinosaur but is vastly superior in terms of scenery and theming. Dinosaur is too much like a glorified spookhouse ride. It certainly doesn't make me feel like I've really been transported back in time and am out in a jungle.

it scared to poop out of me lol

I am 23 years old and I love upsdie down roller coasters but I found this ride t intese, on the other hand my son (5 at the time ) loved it and wanted to go on, this was one ride he did not get his way, I will not go on it again!

GOOD LUCK! :crazy2:

That is it exactly - if you like that sort of thing you'll be fine - I don't consider it a thrill ride, just a "jump out at you" ride.

Like everybody else, its dark and jerky. But I also thought it was very very LOUD. My DD7 get off crying as well as most other girls her age. Its amazing technologically for grown ups--but it can only be described as intense.
