Hi Everyone:

When we booked our cruise 14 months ago, we booked 1st dinner seating. Just got my docs today, and they have us 2nd seating. I have read threads about kids falling asleep at the table. How late is 2nd seating? My ds 19 months probably won't make it through dinner. How long does it usually take? I have left a message for my TA. Totally stressing about this. I really wanted to eat at the restaurants and not the buffets.

Don't forget, you will already be two hours ahead of your schedule. So at 6:00pm dinner you will only feel like it's 4:00pm!

The 8:00pm dinner you are scheduled for will be at your body clocks 6:00pm!

People who have problems with later seatings are generally people from teh East Coast or Europe. You should be fine with the later seating.

Thanks Anne, dh, myself and dd 8 will be OK, but I'm just worried about ds 19 months. We are flying in 2 days before. The actual time difference I think is 3 hours. ds 19 months should be adjusted by day 2. Do you know how long dinner usually takes? And if we don't eat in the reataurants, does that mean casual every night?

thanks,
Wendy

Nope, it's only two hours. (One of my best friends live in C-Town). When I visit her or she visits me it takes more than a couple days to adjust--more like 4-5! So I really wouldn't worry. And yes, if you don't eat in your regular rotation you can go to Topsiders or eat in your stateroom.

You can check as soon as you board to try and change. Sometimes it's possible, but I really think you'll be fine. You can also have your TA call and have you put on a waiting list for early seating now.

Remember one of the common complaints of people with early dining is that you have to leave all the fun activities early in order to get cleaned up and ready for dinner.

PS--Did they do the chuck canvass auction yet this year? I always like to see who ends up driving the Chickwagon and who ends up paying how much for Kelly Sutherland :)

Second seating is at 8:30, actually, and for us that is WAY too late to eat with a child too.

Wendy, I would definitely call your TA if you were confirmed in main dining originally. There is no reason for you to have been switched to late dining. They may be able to get you switched back, especially if your original confirmation from DCL said MAIN dining. At the very least you can waitlist for Main.

Good luck, I hope you get switched back! :)
