Dinning plan upgrading help

Right now we have the summer deal where you get 1 quick service meal free for every night of your stay. When I call to see about upgrading I get 2 different answers. 1 person will say they will deduct about 350 from the price of the upgrade that I chose. Another person will say that I will pay full price for the upgrade and I will just have the extra meal to use. Which one would you go with? I'm trying to figure out if I'm paying out of pocket for the rest of my meals or upgrading to the dinning plan. Thanks!

Well if I had to chose I would only upgrade not add another plan onto my 1 QS per day plan. Way to much food also the one QS per day puts no pressure on you to use them up quickly so you can make better use of them by saving them for the most costly options like wolfgang puck at DS which makes pay out of pocket a good option also.

I don't think that second person is correct. That sounds like a nightmare in the making. Just do the upgrade. It's about $40 per night per adult, but don't have a clue what the kid price is to upgrade.

I don't think the first person is correct. There's no "normal price" for a 1QS/day plan, so I wouldn't expect to be able to upgrade it.

True, but Disney has some kind of math going on because others have upgraded it. The first one that reported it here had only adults, so we were able to figure out the upgrade cost for adults at $40/night. The $350 less OP was quoted is tied to number of nights and people in the party.

Yeah, there's no publicly available normal price, but clearly there is a price in the system because people have reported being able to upgrade it.

When I booked for our trip in June my travel agent told me the cost without the summer deal and with the upgrade form the summer deal to deluxe. So you can upgrade from the summer deal and just pay the difference...what ever that is.

I also have the Summer QS deal for an upcoming trip. We considered upgrading as well and called about it, but the cost is still not worth it compared to our current dining arrangements. That might change if we keep adding TS's.

Also, does your vacation booklet with your plans have that you will receive a dessert with your QS credits? A bunch of us have gotten this, but Disney (by phone) has no clear answer for us since 2017 credits don't include dessert anymore. The best advice so far was to see Guest Relations sometime after check-in with the booklet to see what they say.
