We had dinner at Flying Fish last night. There was a sign at the counter about Dinner with an Imagineer. It listed a number of dates and said to talk to a manager. Just a heads up for dining fans.

Dinner was great. I had a fantastic lobster salad which was the Chef's Thunder appetizer last night. It had a very light citrus vinaigrette. So tasty and refreshing.

What else did you have, please? I am considering going ther efor my birthday dinner, but the manu just doesn't seem to grab me.

I love seafood though, but am very picky. It needs to be fresher than fresh without a hint of "fishy" taste.

Did you have dessert? Appetizer? Drinks?

Thank you for any additional info you are willing to share. ::yes::

BUMP! Anyone else know about this dinner at Flying Fish?? I really want to do the lunch w/ an Imagineer, but a dinner would work better. However, WDW-DINE states there's only a lunch offered.

Any more info would be great! TIA!

Oh, I forgot to come back and answer this. I had Osso Bucco which was really good. My son had the potato wrapped red snapper which is a signature dish and always good. For dessert, he had sorbets and I had a trio of strawberry desserts. Everything was delicious. Oh, and I had a flight of champagnes.

I think you will be pleased with the freshness of the fish if you give it a try.

It seems to be on a trial basis. I would call Disney Dining if I were you. I believe it is being offered every other week for a couple months. Let us know if you book it, please.

I called WDW-DINE as well as WDW-PLAY (for an unrelated question, but asked here anyway)...

The CM at WDW-DINE looked up the Flying Fish dinner in the system for September (we're going in October, can't make ADRs yet). She said it was there, that she'd never heard of it, and that we could book EVERY night for 5:30 or 10 PM and it is about $105pp. Ummm doesn't sound exactly right (every night at two different times??).

So that's why I mentioned it to the CM at WDW-PLAY who knew about it, told me it was on trail for March & April but they haven't yet extended it but to definitely ask about it when I call to make ADRs as they might have extended it by then.

:confused3 Not sure what to believe! I hate how you always get conflicting answers though from CMs!!

The info you were given by WDW Play jives with what I saw. There were specific dates listed and it was not every night. How ironic that WDW Play CM had correct info and WDW Dine did not. :rotfl:

I planned to take a closer look at the list of dates on my way out of the restaurant but by then the podium was mobbed.

Good luck...I hope it is still operating when you go in October. :wizard: I also hope they get the word out in some manner. :surfweb:

I"m glad to hear this!

In the past, the Dinner with an Imagineer was at Artist Point a couple of nights a week, about $100 a person. I did it a couple of times, and I've done the Lunch at the Brown Derby a couple of times, and really enjoyed it.

Kind of seemed that the Dinners were less rushed/time conscious than the Lunches, and I'd really be interested in booking those in the future... hopefully they'll last past the trials!

It looks like you will be there within the trial period. If you end up booking it, will you let us know all about the dinner?

Love your name BTW....makes me think of Harry Potter.:goodvibes

Just spoke to a very helpful and competent CM on WDW-DINE (but she may have actually been a WDW-PLAY CM, because she mentioned Cirque--when it asked me what I was calling about I said "Special Dining Events" and not "Reservations").

Unfortunately, she told me that it's not available after the end of April yet. (We'll be there May 14-22.) She really tried though--different dates, different search combinations, asking her co-workers, etc.

I'm glad yours was more knowledgeable than mine. Mine did know what I was talking about, and tried several times/days for approximately the same time frame. I was trying for lunch at the Brown Derby, since it was the only one I knew about. I just figured it was booked or no longer available.

Well, you all know what we have to do... right? Random calls at various times, from apparently unassociated potential Guests, all asking in different ways about this new "Dining with an Imagineer" feature at Flying Fish that we've heard of, that we'll be visiting ____ (fill in the blank with your own vacation plans) and would be EXTREMELY interested in booking a reservation...

Called WDW-PLAY this morning and did this, hoping to find something available in September. The CM I spoke to knew what I was talking about, but could not locate any Flying Fish dinners with an Imagineer at that time. I guess I'll try back again next week.

I was told 'no' during the call this morning. I was surprised. Has anyone else heard otherwise?

I know when I did it two years ago people on the dining plan payed out of pocket?
When you talked with them did they tell you what night it was at the Flying Fish? I would like to try it there considering we are staying at the BW and planning to do the Flying Fish.
ETA : sorry didn't read that they didn't see it in your other post.

Couldn't (can't?) use Dining Plan credits for Dining with an Imagineer at Brown Derby, so I'd wager it'll be the same here - no. :(

Yeah, I'm assuming not, and I wouldn't expect it to be. I mean, the food is really not the point. You can't use it for the Sunrise or Sunset Safaris either.

We actually have 2 more credits' worth of meals booked for May than we have credits ... hoping to cancel our Flying Fish meal and do Dinner with an Imagineer OOP instead. (Otherwise we'll do the 2 breakfasts OOP and use DP for FF.)

I actually did score the lunch at Brown Derby, although now it has wrecked my plans (am meeting my sister and her husband, who had their hearts set on MK - for the Friday that is the only day I can get the luncheon ressie!!)

Has anyone tried calling the Flying Fish? Seems like the staff there would have some idea if the event is going on in their house. I'm not a seafood fan, but could choke some down if it meant interesting tidbits from the people who make it happen (and exotic souvenirs that no one else has). It might be another situation that needs multiple calls at different times - I'm assuming just prior to the dinner service.

I may just have to be satisfied with the Backstage Magic Tour for this visit.
