I am going next year and was thinking about trying the dinner shows. I was just wondering people's experiences good or bad. Thanks in advance!

Anyone??? Have you been to Hoop dee do or Aloha Dinner show??? I have to chose between them and im not sure which to choose....any suggestions???:goodvibes

I enjoyed the Hoop De Do show, but as I haven't tried the Spirit of Aloha, I can't give you an opinion on that one.

I have seen both shows.

Most DIS posters will say they prefer HDDMR, but I must admit that I prefer the luau.

The luau was much more unique from my perspective. I'd say if you live in an urban environment, go to HDDMR -- if you live in or come from a mostly rural environment...go for the luau.

JMHO!

We just went to HoopDeeDoo last week and it was great. The kids loved it. DH and I went to the laua in 2000 and it was ok. The show was good but the food was not that great.

we have been to both of them and enjoyed the fun ......OUR favorite was probably the luau. The food the show and being outdoors. Wonderful. We have had a large group go with us a few times and they all had different tastes and really had a great time.

HOOPDEEDOO! It's great for young and old, not a bad seat in the house, good old fashioned comfort food. A must do for us.

All three generations of my family prefer HDDR!! The show is fun and the food has yet to disappoint!

I definitely prefer the Hoopdeedoo! The food is yummy! And the show is such a blast!

Did the luau a while ago as a kid and did get brought up on stage but I remember even not liking the kid meal I got and I know my parents never have an interest in doing it again but do the hoopdeedoo a lot!

We have now done both. We just did HDDR last week. We did the luau last year. We liked them both. The HDDR has a lot of corny jokes so my DS 9 loved that. The entertainers come around the theater so there really isn't a bad seat.

We spent the money for front row seats at the luau. I think that would help as we had a great view of everything. My DD loves to dance so she loved it. It was better than I thought it would be based on some reviews.

Have fun!

We went on our first trip to Disney last year and opened our trip the first night with HDDR... it was AWESOME!!! We are going back again this Christmas and have decided that we can not start the trip any other way... so we are doing the HDDR again... My DS5 (4 last year) had a blast there as did his grandparents and us... It was so much fun!!!

Have done both of the shows in the past few years and feel that HDDR was more fun thaan the laua. Felt that laua was a bit cheesy for my liking but the food was good though and the fact that it was outside was a nice touch.

We did both on our first trip. I asked my kids (DS13 & DD12) to pick which one they want to do this trip and they both picked the Luau. We live in a small town so the HDDR was not as unique as the Luau for us.

We did HDDR and the Luau... food is better at the luau, but the show is better at HDDR. The luau show tends to drag out, and after a while you are really just waiting on the fire dancer. HDDR was an incredible show... the kids liked the slapstick comedy while the adults caught the jokes. If we had to choose between them again, we would go back to HDDR next time around.

Been to the Hoop Dee Do twice and it was amazing both times. Even the second time when we got soaken wet waitting to get in and it was cold inside. I'd strongly recommend this, especially if little ones will be present because there is plenty of music and dancing and fun.

We've also been to the Spirit of Aloha twice and it is very entertaining, but geared (IMO) towards adults. The food is excellent at both shows. I liked the HDDR more because I'm a ribs fan and totally overdid it with Bud Lights and ribs! :)

Both shows are well worth the money to pay.

We've done both. I enjoyed the food and atmosphere at the luau. There's nothing like walking there with the pretty, torch-lit winding paths. When you get to your table, there was delicious bread and fresh-cut pineapple.:goodvibes

My kids loved Hoop de doo. They could not stop laughing at the show. They still talk about it. The strawberry short cake is also delicious.

Our grand gathering is has ADR's for the Spirit of Aloha, and before dinner are having family photos done. I know this show gets mixed reviews, so am glad to read some positive ones also. I think we'll enjoy the spirit
of it all and simply being together. :goodvibes

We all really enjoyed HDDMR but did not enjoy the spirit of aloha shw. Just not worth the money or credits ;/

We have done both and enjoyed both. My DH LOVED the salad at the luau. We thought both shows were good. I would recommend either.
