dinner seatings

First vs. second dinner seating...We have always done the early seating because of young children, this cruise we picked second, we cruise in a week and a half. Did we make a mistake this time!!!! My daughter loves the kids club, will she miss out on alot by doing second seating? Is it difficult sitting through the shows before dinner? And finally, we are a group of 9, will it be difficult to change at this point? How far in advance are the seatings made up? Thanks for your responses!!!!

Just from personal experience we like the late dining better. We have done it on 7 DCL cruises and have it picked for our 5/17 cruise as well.

We do not like being rushed to be ready by 6pm for early seating. We have an extra 30 minutes to get ready for the show at 6:30, but if we did not want to go to the show dressed for dinner we have an hour after the show to get ready for our 8:30 dinner.

It all depends on your children. Mine have always stayed up late at home as well, so eating late was never a problem. There are plenty of food choices available to tide them over until dinner. We usually order sandwiches from room service when we get from the pool in the late afternoon.

We prefer late seating as well. I found it extremely difficult to get our three boys plus myself ready to eat at 6:00 pm. We live on the West Coast and usually don't eat until 7-7:30pm anyway, so late seating was perfect for us. We are also a group of 9 including my brother and his family and our Mom. Early seating is the most popular and you may have to put yourself on a waitlist. HTH

We also LOVE the 2nd seating and I have a 3 yr old DD. She loves eating in the club and then I also pull her out to eat with us at 8:30, because she's hungry again. On our 1st cruise we had early seating that was at 5:30 (trial thing they were trying) and she was such a hastle, b/c she wanted to eat with the kids. The 2nd seating gives us the best of both worlds.
