How does the dinner seating at the restaurants work? We are a family of 4 do we sit by ourselves or do we sit in a larger group?

I would think most likely with another group. However, they do have tables for 4, so I'm not sure how that always works.

When we crused as a couple, we used to alwasy get a table with 3 other couples.

The last time we sailed, we changed our seating assignment from 2nd to 1st seating once on board, and our family of 3 had a 4 person table.

It varies. On our first cruise we were seated at a table for four. (There are four of us). On our next two cruises, we were seated at a table for eight - one time with a family of three and the other time another family of four. If you are uncomfortable sitting with other people, speak to the dining room manager and maybe they can switch your seating.

The best answer is that it varies. We have been seated with 2 of us at a table for 4. Other times, we were at tables for 8, and on one occasion we were asked if we were willing to join another party and have a table for 18. Amazingly, that worked wonderfully!

If you have a preference, let DCL know and they will try to honor it--for instance, if you don't want to be seated with another family, tell them.

On our first cruise we were seated with a great family (there are just DH and I), Then on the second cruise we sat with the friends that went with us (so there was 4 of us) on the third cruise we asked for no kids at our table and they put us with another couple.

So they do try to put you at the tables that you want if you ask for it, they try to do their best.
