We have been on an early dinner seating wait-list for a year and there has been no action. Has anyone ever received their change before they cruise, or will they change it when you get on board?

Allie, I don't have the answer but we are also waitlisted and I wondered how it worked also.

I was waitlisted last year and just kept calling Disney every day and finally got it. I am waitlisted this year as well and am doing the same. My dd's 3 and 5 won't make it to the late seating, but atleast I know there are so many other options for eating if we don't get it.:hyper:

I bet you shouldn't have a problem to change it, even once you board.

We had three 2yo's in our group, in Dec., and we had NO problems with them during the late seating! We will definitely ask for this seating again, it is much more flexible for us.

Good luck! :sunny:

Hi, my daughter and I just got back from the Magic. 2/7-2/14. We requested the early, 6pm seating, but it was booked, and were put on the wait list. When we got our tickets a few weeks before sailing, it said we were confirmed for the late seating. To our surprise, when we got to our stateroom, we got seats at the early seating!
They will do everything they can to get you changed. I also spoke with people who changed their seating at guest services onboard.

It is also worth a try to go over to Dining Room Changes upon embarkation and request early seating from one of the Head Servers. This may or may not be possible, but a "please" and smile go a very long way.

You can also choose your rotation, if you are not happy with it AND ask for specific servers, if you have a favorite one!

Again, good manners, a polite smile and courtesy go far when you make a request! And don't forget the THANK YOU!!!!

rae... we must be twins! My sorority nickname was "Miss Manners"! :wave2:

We changed our rotation when we boarded, and had no problems! Keep the faith and don't give up hope! ;)

I think the manners that you brought up are applicable to everything on the ship. It amazes me how many children don't say thank you, or even please.

The cast members are not "servants", they are there to make our cruise more enjoyable, but they are also human beings just like us and deserve respect and commendation for the excellent job they do. I try to say please whenever I request anything (from ordering at dinner, to purchasing in the shop etc) and thank you whenever any castmember or fellow cruiser does something for me.

Keep up the manners! I'm sure the cast members really appreciate it :)

As a former military member, too often I saw situations occuring on foreign land that rememded me of the phrase, "Ugly American". We are guests of the Magic - note that word :GUESTS:
Same as when we are in foreign Ports, we are guests of that country.

And as a guest, we need to always remember our manners.

I was mortified once when a church secretary had breakfast with a group of us and spoke to the waitress with a rude and condescending tone. The waitress maintained a calm and pleasant attitude but I lost my appetite and this one time "friend" was quickly removed from my circle of friends because of the way she treated that woman. It didn't matter that later I apologized to the waitress for that woman's behavior, the damage was already done.

There is NOTHING worse than bad manners - especially when children are involved. Personally, I treat all children like adults when I speak with them and use the same polite words that I would with any adult - if we don't set the example, then who will?

We were talking to quite a few CM's onboard the Magic last week and the crew definitely has had run ins with the "ugly Americans"...I was so ashamed that some of my countrymen would treat staff in anything but a courteous manner, but it does happen.

Our server was telling us that at the early rotation table he had one the group actually called him names!!! We were shocked. He said we were a great table and lots of fun. He really enjoyed us and we enjoyed him!!!

Another cruise staff member was telling us how she was berated by an "ugly american" when she told them that to use certain watercraft the minimum age is now 5. The person could not understand why her 4 1/2 year old could not go on the craft with her. She was yelling and saying that she paid good money to go on this cruise and this was Disney and should do what the guests want.....she would probably be the same person that would sue should anything happen to her child while on the water craft.

We always try to prove that "ugly American" saying false.

Absolutely, MJ! Absolutely! Good manners is not about what you think about others it's really about how you think of yourself.

And we are the ones that the CM's remember and go out of their way to say Hello to when we return! It's nice to be recognized by the crew and get those welcome hugs from our DIS CM's!

Thank you disneyfan1 alias Miss Manner - for some of us, we can just be ourselves and the manners come naturally!!!

I couldn't agree more with all of you. I can't believe how rude and inconsiderate some very "ugly americans" can be. Not only americans, all people. I am ashamed to be around people like that. There is no excuse for their behavior. I guess we all have to try extra hard to make up for those with horrible behaviors. All of our servers were trying their hardest to please, and I can't imagine being rude to them . I was taught as a child to treat all people the way you would like to be treated. It works, a smile and a kind word go very far. When people treat me kindly, I try to go out of my way to treat them with kindness and respect right back. It works everytime::yes::
