Dinner Rotations

It will be my first cruise this July and I'm curious about a couple of things. Can you change the nights of your dinner rotations once you arrive? We are going to do Palo the first night and I wouldn't want to miss out on Animators Palette so if that was assigned as our first night dinner could I switch that? Or is the rotation set in stone?

Second, I watched someone's vlog where they requested to be seated at a table by themselves instead of being assigned to sit with random people. Is this something that can be requested at Guest Services once on board or is this something that should be done ahead of time?

TIA!

Yes, you can request those things once you board. But, it's subject to availability. Likely you can get one or both requests if you are willing to go with 2nd seating.

So just call the Disney Cruise line number then?

If you did not use a travel agent, yes.

I would just select the MDR you would prefer to skip and request that MDR first as opposed to “not AP on the first night”. It is too easy for them to miss the “not” in all the multitude of requests.

And also you can request “private table”.

Be aware they are ONLY requests though.

If you used a TA they would need to call.

This past cruise I requested AERAERA rotation in the Fantasy and a table with a water view. We got both! It was a nice surprise. I made the request via phone call 2 months prior to sailing.

The problem with requesting a specific rotation as opposed to a certain MDR on the first night (or formal night or pirate night, etc.) is that the rotations *could* change. But there will always be 1/3 of the ship in each dining room on each night. It makes it much easier for the assigner because they know why you requested that particular MDR. If you've requested a rotation and it changes, they won't know why you requested that particular rotation.

I wouldn't miss the first night in the MDR. I like getting to know our servers immediately. They are such important people on your cruise. The next morning these hard working folks will be serving breakfast and you won't even know if you are passing by.........

Also, if you don't get a table to yourself, you will want to meet your table mates.

I called DCL 5he other day to request dining rotation for our July cruise. The agent said DCL will be working on those soon, so the sooner the better the request however no guarantees. She also told us the dinner line up too casual, formal etc

I called the other day and requested it! I actually called twice because I changed my mind after the first time I called lol Honestly I don't care too much what rotation we get but the food appeals most to DH and I at Royal Palace and theres only one night where we will be eating the set restaurant menu (because Pirates night and then Palo) so we shall see how it works out!

We are dining in Remy and also checked to see if we could get info earlier to see if it conflicts with AP, they said you can simply make a request not to have that rotation on the day of your reservations but my DH had a great idea since we have the early seating and our kids are older 9/14 we are going to plan on attending dinner with them but moving it along and then dining at Remy its not perfect as its later start time but its a back up in case the request is missed just a thought! The experience was so amazing to us previously its worth the juggling to enjoy, Palo is also wonderful hope you love it!

That's a great idea if you're on a short cruise and want to see all of the dining rooms. My husband and I did that several times when our kids were young and we were dining at Palo -- we went to the main dining room, had some bread or an appetizer, made sure the kids ate, took them to the kids' clubs, and went to Palo.

Someone who want to see the full show at Animator's Palate, though, may still want to ask for a rotation that doesn't include AP on Palo night, because the full effect isn't apparent until the end of the seating.
