Hi, does anyone know how strict resturants are with reservations? We have 6 people in our party and I was able to find a reservation for 4 at a Resturant we wanted. Do you know if they would turn us away if we showed up with 2 extra people?

I would think they would that is the idea of making a reservation. Now if you increase theres a problem as they only have you reserved at a table for 4 with 4 chairs but decreasing is another story because a table of 6 can become a table for 4

Most likely a reservation for 4 is going to be sat at a table that sits only 4. So I would not count on just showing up and them accomodating. It would be different if younwere going from 3 to 4 or 5 to 6 because odd number parties could be sat at a table holding that extra place.

I would keep trying to change it for 6. What restaurant was it?

Probably. According to a CM who posts, they are on to people doing that. They won't turn you away if they have room, but if you can't find an ADR for 6, they probably don't have room for 6.

They will only seat 4 of you if you are not able to get an ADR for 6. However, keep trying to get an ADR for the appropriate number of people. The closer you get to your trip, ADR's will open, as other guests' plans change, cancel trips, etc; even the day before your current ADR! I was in the same situation. I got all of my wanted ADR's at 180 day out mark, with the exception of "The Great White Whale", BOG. Got an ADR for one less than needed. Kept trying, at about 94 days out, "Pixie-dust" ADR opened up for exactly what I needed!!!

There is a chance that the extra 2 will be turned away. It all depends on the restaurant, how busy or popular it is, what time the res is for and if you're going during a busy time of year. Castmembers will do their best to seat your 2 extra people, but there's no guarantee that it will be possible because restaurants have to abide by the fire code regulations so if the restaurant is full, anyone not on a reservation can be turned away. Also, we were at a restaurant that was running far behind schedule so it was also turning away walk ups, latecomers and anyone not on a reservation.

As much as possible keep checking online multiple times a day for a reservation for 6 or for 2 at very close to your current res. If you get a table for 2 you can ask to be seated together, but it is only a request and a certainty. Keep checking even after you arrive at DW. You can also subscribe to the cancellation thread on this Dining Reservations board. With the cancellation/no show penalty people will cancel when their plans change.
