Dinner reservations for sale?????

But all this really does not matter as in Spring 2002 I complained bitterly of a seller selling "breakfast with the princesses" at CRT for $25.00 a reservation

But I've seen others that weren't cancelled. You never know which way eBay will fly.

The point is..this auction and the first one were not cancelled. I've seen eBay cancel immediately if it's a real problem. But the way to go is the way you went. If it bothers you and you think they are breaking the eBay rules, let eBay handle it and not to harrass a seller. What good on earth does it do to have people "gang up" on one person as was suggested in this thread? Personally, I'd rather see the group "gang" up if they must, on the people selling pictures of little boys without shirts, and saying they are great pictures to use for memory books. That may be your (not your per se) child in the picture, taken on the beach on Disney or the water parks. Now that would be something I can work myself up against...those get reported often, and eBay just lets most of them slide. This one..a reservation for sale? Well, if someone wants it bad enough to buy it, then I guess it's just buyer beware...not enough to get my knickers in an uproar, or to call someone nasty names.

Sorry - I don't get what you are saying here?

This is the Disney Restaurant Board - we are commenting on the sale of free DIsney Restaurant PS's promising things that may not come through - like a table right at 8:40pm or the best seat in the house, or a fireworks view..

This is on topic for this board.

I don't go into the "dark" areas of eBay that you seem to know about... Maybe you should take your concerns to the community board and keep this board for restaurants.

I second that! I believe the people here were just expressing their opinions on the sell of a Priority Seating that made false promises not IF Ebay should cancel it or not.

What you didn't get, was, I didn't see the connection between this being a restaurant board and the several people who talked about ganging up on this person. I think that mentality (lets all write her letters! and another person saying they were sure she got lots of nasty letters..and saying what good work that was) belongs more on the community board. It's one thing to post it, and talk about it..it's another when people inundate the person with letters. Why not just use the "write to the seller" for what's it's meant for..to ask questions about the item for sale..and report to eBay anything you think is against the rules? I went back and reread..thought maybe I had misundeerstood some of the posts, but I didn't . I think it's one thing to say you think it's not ethical, but another to encourage people to go against ebay rules and harass this girl and call her nasty names, and not let her defend herself on this board..well, I think that has gotten personal and is that not against the rules of this board? If she came over and defended herself would it then belong on the debate board (or are we allowed to call her nasty names, but she's not allowed to show up and defend herself), or still be ok to be on the the restauant board? I understand the tellign of the item, and the discussion being pertinent to the restaurant board..but not the rest of what was said.

As far as the "dark" areas of ebay I go into..I'm not sure if I've been insulted or not..I found the "boy" pictures on the memory book page of eBay...lots of people who frequent the Disboards do memory pages. My point was, that there are many places where well meaning people can go after someone that has done something wrong on eBay..that really is immoral, and supposedly agains the rules. I have not been shown where this was against the rules (and I was on topic..the topic that has been in this thread..that all should go after this person because of what she sold on eBay..clearly against eBay rules). I may not like it (the selling of a ressie) but I like even less the nasty names this person was called because she may not have realized that it's not a good thing to sell on ebay...especially since other than how I feel about it..I haven't seen it proven wrong. Shall we invite her to join the board..or would it be unseemly with the nasty names she was called for selling something that eBay let stand for two auctions?

not IF Ebay should cancel it or not.

I think you need to go back and reread the comments.

opinions on the sell of a Priority Seating that made false promises

Really? Then I misunderstood. I thought people were mad because she was selling it at all and wanted people to write to eBay and tell them to cancel it. So you think the encouragement to write her and tell her how awful she is, and the calling of nasty names makes us better than her? Oh..I didn't understand that.

Here are just two comments from earlier letters..I won't post the nasty names one again, because I understand the gal has been invited over, and why should she see them twice.

Thanks for letting everyone know about it - I agree that EVERYONE should email this person so she gets the idea not to do it again!

Not sure if this is even possible , but I'm sure she's been inundated with nasty e-mails. Good work all !!

Harrassment and spam is against eBay rules. The "write to seller" is suppose to be used to ask questions about the auction..not to harrass the seller.

It's been reported by several of you..why not let eBay handle it. Apparently it's not illegal, since after all the reports, eBay didn't shut down the auction.

While I would never think to sell reservations, I would also never think to buy them..but she did, and as a new seller, saw nothing wrong with it. If eBay hasn't written her to tell her they were closing the auction, while we may think it's unethical, immoral, etc etc, it looks like it's not unlawful...prob not a lot different than the person who is selling the ghost in a jar..do you think there really is a ghost? Or the people selling their old sneakers to others with a foot fetish. Buyer beware on eBay..if you don't care for an auction don't bid, if you think there is something illegal, report it..but that's really all that should be done...let eBay take care of it IMO.

Ditto. There is absolutely NO reason to harass the seller. I don't agree with selling reservations either, HOWEVER, Let Ebay handle it. Your email address and ebay ID is revealed when you write to "ask the seller a question" Your really don't want this person reporting you for harassment or abuse to your ISP.

My issue with the seller's auction really would just be that it promises more than the PS can really deliver. If it were just a case of making available an otherwise-unavailable reservation, that's a basic business transaction - one person does the legwork, acquires the desired commodity, and is compensated for their service by the person acquiring the commodity.

That's my view *in principle*. On the other hand, if Disney has decided that PSs aren't transferable, then it's their restaurant, their rules, and our obligation to go by them.

It was really just the name-calling here in the thread that disturbed me. Perhaps I'm over-sensitive.

Then that makes two of us...that was the part that didn't seem very "Disney-DisBoards" to me.

Here's the really bizarre part....If you look at her feedback, the original seller of the PS claims that she never PAID for the PS that she "bought!"

She bid the 122.50, then after winning, called Disney Dining and found out she could get the same PS for FREE....probably made her own PS....

Then she turned around and re-sold what she never bought...or was she selling the PS she did actually book herself???

Worse, the original PS for sale was a much more toned down version than she posted --- it did not say "guaranteed reservation" and such.

I think it's kind of yucky to sell something that someone can get for free, but the part that really bothers me is deliberatley misrepresenting it ("best seat in the house," "guaranteed"...etc...)

I don't like liars...especially greedy liars. Even if she was duped, it doesn't make it ok to dupe someone else....I think it makes it worse!!

Well, I've ranted long enough. Of course that 's just my opinion....I could be wrong...(anyone out there a Dennis Miller fan?)

Now I gotta go get me a Mr Toad's car on e-bay....;)

LOL...Well at least no one was gullible enough to bite twice on this offer.
