Dinner reservations 2 hours after landing at SNA?

Hi everyone! Our flight arrives at Orange County Airport at 3:29 pm on a Wednesday and we have dinner reservations at Blue Bayou at 5:40 pm. Assuming no flight issues, is that enough time to get us to Disneyland Hotel to drop off our bags and walk to the park for dinner? I am getting nervous about getting timing….,

How are you getting to the hotel from SNA? Car rental? Uber?

also, any checked luggage?

if you have no checked luggage and get a taxi/Uber it should take you 30 mins - 1 hour to get to DLH. So no problem there assuming weekday traffic hours. If you are waiting for luggage or need to get a rental car, I’d add 15-30m for luggage depending on how busy the handlers are. If renting a car, I think you’ll more likely be late than on-time/early.

I just flew Delta into SNA this past Saturday night. My flight landed at 9:50 pm and I got my luggage at 10:20...it took a long time maybe because it was so late at night?? I used a town car service so I didn't have to wait for a shuttle or get a rental. It took just about a half of an hour to get to my hotel. I am staying at a hotel on Harbor Blvd so I can't speak to checking in at the DLH. If you land at 3:30 with my time-line you would get to the hotel by 4:30 (however you may run into more traffic than I did) You would still have check in get your luggage to your room. So now it's probably close to 5:00. That gives you 40 minutes to get to the park go through security and the ticket turnstiles and then over to the Blue Bayou. I think you'd be cutting it pretty close. I personally would not like the stress.

I echo everyone else's sentiments. If you are taking an uber/taxi/lyft, then you have a better chance of making it on time. But I probably wouldn't do it - too stressful and doesn't give you a lot of wiggle room for flight delays, traffic delays, or delays checking into the hotel.

Thank you everyone. That echoes how I am feeling. We are planning on just carrying on our luggage and grabbing a taxi/Lyft at the airport, so that reduces some of the risk.

Our flight was originally supposed to get in earlier, but we received notice of the time change AFTER I made the BB reservations — which are of course impossible to change now. I hate to give up our only shot at eating there, so I guess I just have to decide if it is worth just trying for it and pay the penalty if we are too late!

helenk —what town car service did you use? Did you like them?

I think you’ll be fine, especially if you grab a taxi that’s already there. Ask for the flat rate to DLR- I think it’s currently &45?

I've gotten from SNA to into the park with a stop at a hotel in under 2 hours quite a few times before. If you know where you're going, you should be fine.

You should be able to call the restaurant to cancel the reservation without penalty if you are delayed and explain the situation to them. At least for restaurants in California Adventure, we have been able to cancel a couple of hours before the reservation time just fine even though it officially says you are supposed to cancel by the day before. We've been told that even just 10 minutes before is fine for some restaurants but I don't really eat at Blue Bayou so I don't have experience there.

Uber and Lyft were taking forever when we were there late summer. We finally gave up after trying two different drivers from SNA and one couldn't find us and one never came. We just grabbed a flat rate cab. So if you are really pressed for time, I would go straight for a waiting cab. With the high prices Uber is able to get these days, the price may not be different at all from a flat rate cab. Traffic will likely be pretty intense at that time of day. I find we need to be on the road by 3pm from SNA to avoid big traffic snags. The cab should use the carpool lane which saves some time (we once had an inexperienced Uber driver who didn't know he could use them and it wasted a lot of time). We LOVE BB so I understand not wanting to miss. Of course, you can try "modifying" the reservation in the app in the hours before your flight, and maybe something later will come up. I often find availability to modify my reservation even when I look at making a new reservation and it says nothing is available.

Thank you! I will definitely try that!

I used Lansky Enterprises. I have used them before and really like their service. I highly recommend them
