How long do you think it would take to get on Magical Express (or pick up a rental car), check in to ASMusic, and get to Disney Springs for dinner? I wasn't going to make an ADR for our arrival day but just learned that reservations for many Disney Springs restaurants can be made through Open Table with no cancellation penalty. Our flight lands at MCO at 5:30. Is it unreasonable to think that we could make an 8:30 reservation at Raglan Road?

That may be tough, but if you have no cancellation penalty I guess it worth a shot. We've been at our resort anywhere from 1-3 hours after landing. One trip we had a delay at the airport and then a delay with ME so we were checking in hours later than anticipated. If using Disney buses to get to DTD that alone can be an hour depending on how long you have to wait for a bus.

If all goes well though and there are no delays you should be able to manage.

I think you're urging it close, personally. That's a high volume arrival window for ME, and you may have multiple resort stops before yours.

We're going to rent the car ($110 for the week at Alamo, through carrentalsavers) so hopefully we can shave some time off the DME end of things. If we are running too late, we can check-in at ASMu after supper (although I'd really prefer to use Disney transportation to get to DS, given all the construction- and wanting to have a beer or 2 at RR!). We'll see what happens.

Depending on which night you go the traffic for DTD will be horrible. Last time we went (beginning of April 2015) our commute from DTD to Shades of Green was short of an hour, and that wasn't including waiting for the bus.

We usually budget about 3 hours from arrival to the earliest window for dining and haven't had a problem. ME has taken anywhere from 60-90 mins to pick us up and drop off.

I think you will be okay if you have no cancellation penalty. I'd book it and take the chance under those circumstances. No way with a per person penalty though.

Might be close; everything may have to work well.
Let's throw out some time estimates . . .
. . . 1730 hrs - plane arrives
. . . 1745 hrs - everyone deplanes
. . . 1755 hrs - take tram to terminal
. . . 1800 hrs - walk to Disney Express counter
. . . 1815 hrs - check-in and walk to bus loading area
. . . 1825 hrs - load onto bus and get ready to depart
. . . 1900 hrs - drive to Disney ***
. . . 1920 hrs - unload from bus and check-in at resort
. . . 1930 hrs - walk to room and briefly unpack carry-ons
. . . 1945 hrs - walk to bus stop
. . . 1955 hrs - wait for next bus
. . . 2000 hrs - board bus
. . . 2025 hrs - drive to Disney Springs
. . . 2035 hrs - get off bus and walk to restaurant

*** Each bus route has four different resorts assigned. You bus may or may not make a stop at each resort, based upon the amount of people on the bus from each resort. Additionally, you do not know in which order your resort is place on the route. In some cases, you go directly to your resort, and on other days, you are the last resort. Figure 15-munites per resort stop.

Maybe. Renting a car means you need to stop and get your checked bags.
