Dinner Ideas...

I'm finalizing our itinerary for DL (we leave in 9 days) and I want to make some reservations for our dinners. My husband loves cajun food, so we have reservations to eat at both RB Jazz Kitchen and Cafe Orleans. I think Blue Bayou would be nice, but I don't think I can handle cajun a third time. We also have Ariel's reserved one night.

I need suggestions for dinner on Thursday and Saturday nights. I thought about Big Thunder Barbecue, but I'm not a huge bbq fan. Are Woody and Jessie still there?

Any other suggestions? Carnation Cafe? Plaza Inn? Thanks for your suggestions.

Well I know for sure Woody and Jessie are No longer at BTBBQ, We love Carnation Cafe and Riverbelle Terrace.... there are a couple counter service places I really like Rancho De Zocalo and we really like Hungry Bear for a burger and fries at a decent price!!

I don't believe Big Thunder Barbecue has characters anymore but you can find Woody and Jessie in Frontierland near BTMR (ask City Hall for the specific times that they are there on the days that you go). You can also find them in DCA at Paradise Pier across from the carousel (you'll want to ask the CMs with the "Ask me about characters" pin for the specific times that they are there as well.)

As for meals, I believe Carnation Cafe closes pretty early so you'll want see what time they close. I think the food is more of a lunch than dinner thing though. Plaza Inn has pretty good fried chicken but that's about it. If you are looking for a character meal, I highly suggest going to Goofy's Kitchen in DLH. Or if you can afford it, check out Napa Rose in GCH (it's an awesome dining experience but it will cost you $$$). Taste Pilot's Grill in DCA also has pretty good burgers (heard their BBQ is pretty good too so maybe it'll be good if your husband likes BBQ and you can just have the burgers?).

We LOVE Carnation Cafe. I could eat the Loaded Baked Potato soup for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

Storytellers Cafe at the GCH is good. You can have the buffet or order off the menu. Hook's Pointe at DLH is also very good.

Most of the items on the menu at Blue Bayou are not even remotely Cajun. You might want to check the menu before you decide. If you do want to eat there during normal dinner hours (4:30 - 8:30) reservations several days ahead are advised, they book up pretty early.

I would stick with the Blue Bayou. The most Cajun thing about BB is the name. We love the Plaza Inn fried chicken- it is a Disneyland tradition for our family. We also will be trying Storyteller's too. How about Wine Country in DCA- not sure when it reopens though.

When we want counter service, our go-to place is Pizza Port. None of us like the pizza, but the pasta and salads are good.

For sit-down, we enjoy Carnation Cafe. It is true that they don't serve dinner there year-round, but it's always good to check. Menu is the same for lunch or dinner though.

There are some great choices in DTD. I would recommend Rainforest Cafe, Tortilla Joe's and La Brea Bakery!

I just made PS for Carnation Cafe at 8 pm, so I think they are opened later. I hope so!

Storytellers Cafe at the GCH is good. You can have the buffet or order off the menu.

+1 for Storyteller Cafe. If you want to take a break from theme park food and all the noise, the Storyteller is a nice escape.

Blue Bayou is a great choice, not really cajun food like Jazz Kitchen.

I second Storyteller's Cafe.

It depends on what day you will be there... is there a parade that day? If so, I highly recommend Carnation Cafe. Depending on how you time your reservation, you may have a great view of the parade just as you're wrapping up dinner! We were able to do this when we went last December... our PS at Carnation Cafe was for an hour before the Holiday Parade started, and our table just happened to be right next to the sidewalk! It was perfect!
