I read on the dining plan that before you order you let your server know how many meals to take off the card. My question, can I have one dining plan, and take two meals off for two people during one dinner? In other words can I get one dining plan for two people? It says you may not redeem meals for persons not on your dining plan, but if it says you can take however many meals why not?

What you're proposing couldn't even be set up unless you are talking about two persons who are not staying together in the same room, because everyone listed on one room reservation must be on the same dining plan.

As for ordering meals for guests, you can't do that. If your key card says you have one person on the dining plan you can order only one meal at a time and pay for it with dining credits. Any other meal you order must be paid for by a different method.

You're told to tell the server how many meals to take because people sometimes order fewer meals than they have people on the dining plan (paying cash for a child's meal for a 10 year old and saving the credit, for example). You can use the plan to buy fewer meals than you have people on the plan, but not more.

Also, because I'm not 100% sure of the question, all guests staying in the same room must have the dining plan, or none of them can have it. (Exception: children under 3.)

If there are two of you staying in a room, you'd have to order the dining plan for both people, or not at all. If it's only one person on the reservation, then, as pointed out above, you'd be limited to using 1 person's worth of credits at a time, plus you are violating the plan rules if you purchase for anyone not on the reservation.

Marsha Marsha Marsha this will never work. You can pay OOP for the cheaper meal but tell them you want separate checks but you can't use a TS for each of you if only 1 is on the plan, and like the others have said everyone in the same room has to be on the same plan (all of you have to get the DDP or none get it).

Wow! It is awesome to have so many knowledgeable Disney people. I will have my plan paid for by my workplace, but my husband will not, and I will not be able to have breakfast or lunch with him since I will be in meetings, so that was the issue. Our daughter will be with us too, but she is under three.
:) This will be our first Disney vacation so any other advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks again everyone.

I hope to stay at the coronado but it is not working out rooms are too short so it looks like the beach club...any thoughts?

If those are your two options and you can afford either, I'd say Yacht & Beach unless you really want a big food court.

If you are all staying in the same room, you must either all have the dining plan, or not, regardless of who pays for it.

I am not an expert on any of those resorts you mention but if you are looking for a value place I would say POP if a moderate I would say POR.

This, exactly. You, or your work, will have to pick up the tab for your DH's dining plan if you are staying in the same room. Your daughter will be free since she is under 3.

I don't know how that is possible if he is staying with you. They can't give the dining plan to only one person in a room. From what I have seen you have not booked yet, but since you are apparently not a DVC member you should note that to get a dining plan you have to buy a package with park tickets - is your office willing to spring for tickets for both of you and a dining plan for your husband? (The child won't need either tickets or a dining plan)

At any rate if you add a dining plan you will have to add it for both of you, not just you.

Also, if you are booking on a special convention rate reservation, you won't be eligible for the dining plan.

The other thing to look at is whether or not you're being booked with some kind of conference rate/package. That may impose additional or different rules than normal package plans.

If your budget allows I'd definately stay at Yacht and Beach. Coronado Springs is a moderate resort that is designed to cater to the conference crowd and somewhat less themed towards Disney than others. That Doesn't mean it's not nice, that means it's not as "Disney" as some of the others.

Yacht and Beach is a deluxe resort. Larger rooms, nicer resort and within walking distance of EPCOT and DHS. Beach Club has a great pool which looks like a Beach (imagine that! :lmao:)
