Can someone recommend a great place to have dinner for my 40th birthday in October? We will be four adults and three children. Either resort or park but no too fancy as our travel companions are on a budget (aren't we all though!)

Hoop dee doo. It is what I did. We had the BEST time.

If California Grill is open when you are going, I would say eat there. That's where I had my 40th bday dinner and it was so memorable. (I know you said not too fancy or expensive, but you only turn 40 once!):thumbsup2

How about 'Ohana at the Poly? Food is good, all you can eat, and if you time it right, you can watch Wishes from your table just ask for a window table.
Just be aware that they do tend to run behind on their ADRs. It is possible to wait 30 mins or more to be seated.

Garden Grill is good. Patrick our server for a birthday celebration made it most memorable. If possible I would recommend him and garden grill.

thanks for all of your suggestions! There are some many great places to choose from and I haven't tried any of them.

You will have a fabulous time celebrating your 40th in Disneyworld.
I celebrated my 40th there in 2007 and my DH booked Citricos in The Grand Floridian. We were taken to a private room when we arrived and they had also given 9 of us in our party a menu stating it was my 40th birthday it was a lovely surprise a really nice touch.

Now this was the first year the free dining had come out and when we first booked the holiday and I was informed of the offer I laughed and said so everyone in our party will get free dining no food to buy all within the price quoted I could not believe it I said ok add it on and thought no more of it.

So when we arrived we were taken to a private room and we had 3 waiters looking after us. Looking at the menu I thought this will never be on the free dining plan. Then when it came to the deserts the waiter asked us if we would like a desert or would we prefer the birthday cake for the dessert as you are on the dining plan it entitles you also to the desserts, everyone opted for the birthday cake. Wow what a cake a huge chocolate cake with handmade flowers with an iced card saying Happy 40th Birthday from all your family it was amazing. Guess what because we did not have the dessert we did not have to pay for the cake!

Now this was also when you got starter, main, dessert and free tips! Yes the tip was also included, but we all gave $10 each on top as we had a great night and the service was fantastic and they really made my 40th birthday extra special I will never forget it. So I would recommend Citricos my DH said he never asked for a private room they just sprinkled the Disney Magic for me.

Guess where I will be celebrating my 50th!! :)

Have a great time and congratulations.pixiedust:

My 40th birthday is on June 1st and we will be going to 'Ohana. :cool1: I was also able to get ressies for the Wishes Dessert Party!

I did the exact same thing on my 40th bday (almost 5 years ago). I remember this day so clearly ... it was definitely one of my best bdays ever. We went out on the patio and watched the fireworks b/w dinner and dessert.

All of these suggestions so far would not meet your budget criteria. They are quite expensive. 'Ohana, garden grill and hoop dee doo are set prices that will run close to $50.00 a person after all said and done.

Citricos and California Grill are signature restaurants. I easily drop $250.00 for my family of four at those restaurants.

Places I have found to be reasonable (entrees around $20.00 available) but also fun are:

Kona Cafe
Grand Floridian Cafe
Rose and Crown

But, I would recommend the Sanaa experience. It can be exotic and fun. While also reasonably priced. Plus the building is gorgeous.

Have fun on your birthday.

Also, some places are much cheaper for lunch, if you can celebrate t 3:30 - you can save money at some restaurants.
