We arrive at POR on Sept 30th at around 3 pm. for 7 days. We have ADR for each night, but the day we arrive.

We don't plan on touring the parks on that first day, but wondered if we should go to Epcot for dinner or DTD or just stay at POR?? We want to familiarize ourselves with the resort and take it easy after an early morning, but i don't want hungry, cranky kids with no ADRs. What does everyone do this first night for dinner??

Now and then, we go into the parks but it's such a good start to stay close to the hotel, take your time unpacking, and explore all your own hotel has to offer. I love to stay for dinner at my own hotel on the first nite ... When we went to AKL, we went to BOMA that first nite... When we stayed at POP Century, we went to the cafeteria there. This time, we are staying at the BWV's and will more than likely eat on the Boardwalk. Boatwright's menus look good and I've seen some nice reviews and nice pictures of the food there. You may do well to stay close to your hotel... I hope you have a GREAT time no matter what your decision is...

We just eat at our resort- that way we get familiar with what they have to offer us on nights we don't have ADR'S! :)

We enjoy relaxing the first few hours at our hotel. We then go to dinner at 1900 Park Fare or Chef Mickey's and then head over to the Magic Kingdom for the evening. Have a great trip!

we are staying at cbr in 52 days...and i made a ressie for the dining place there, we may get to the world around 3, but with airlines these days i did not want to feel rushed either. i plan on using the pool, checking out the resort, and having a good nights sleep before the big first day/next day. i checked the menu for shutters, and there are things we would like to try.
i saw the menu where you are staying, looks good. we are going to check out your resort one of the days, for a future possible stay.
have a wonderfull trip!

You should go on the dinner in Epcot because later on in the trip, you might get tired. You may not want to go to dinner somewhere other than your hotel later on in the trip.

We have made it tradition to eat at Ohana's the first night of our Disney stays. But I would guess alot depends on when you arrive, and if your renting a car.
We always arrive in Orlando around 11-12 noon. So we gather or belongings, car, and head to DTD. We eat at EOS, and then make it to our resort for check-in. We check out the resort, unpack, nap-and head out to Ohana's about 7.
Have a great time! :thumbsup2
