Dinner dress for kids?

What is appropriate for my 8 year old DD to wear to dinner? She has a couple of cute skort outfits with Disney characters embroidered on them. Are skorts okay? Also, what about capri's? She wants a dress for Triton's. I just wonder about the other 3 meals. Have to buy now as our consignment sale starts in a week! Thanks for any advice! My comfort zone is blue jeans and tees, so I need help!

from what I have read here I think that should be fine. Not sure if she is too old for this yet but some of the girls where princess costumes to dinner! At least that is what the DCL rep told me. I plan on bringing a few along so my girls (4, and 3 at the time of our cruise) can wear them.

Basically, for kids, almost anything goes. SOme of the little ones do wear princess costumes. We've done 10 Magic cruises....the only thing I ask of DD is that she follow the dress code of "no shorts in the dining room at dinner." That allows her to choose a dress, skirt, or pants outfit.

No one will say anything about what a child wears. That said, my personal feeling is that Capri pants are too close to shorts, and I wouldn't let my daughter wear them. That's the mom part of me saying that I want her to "follow the rules." I'd save the Capris and skorts for breakfast and lunch. A black skirt can go with different tops for multiple different dinner outfits. We just make a point of "dressing" for dinner...just to make it a little special.

Capris and/or a skort will be fine. I've even used both for myself for dinner. I have a couple Capri sets that look dressier than a skirt/blouse. The only night I'd feel funny about that is Tritons (and you already said you had a dress for that).

Thanks! In the past I have been able to find a few nice Disney dresses at consignment. I hope to have good luck this year. I haven't seen much in the catalogue this year. She loves dresses and I'm sure if I can find 4 she would wear one to each meal. The search is on!
