Trying to plan for our dinner attire on our 7 night Western Caribbean cruise in May.

My daughters want to wear their princess gowns on formal night. But, is there another night that is "princess" night attire? Also, what is the difference between semi-formal and formal night? Is semi-formal night specially themed, or just fancier clothes than cruise casual?

Thanks!

I've seen princess gowns every night of the cruises, not just formal night. As far as levels of dress go, for me, I wear suit with matching tie and vest on formal night, semi formal is shirt and tie, cruise casual is shirt with no tie and sleeves rolled up. But we've had people at the table next door in shorts and polo's. You can do whatever makes you comfortable.

On cruise casual nights, If I am feeling lazy, I will wear capris and a top.
But I usually have a dress for every night with me, just sundresses nothing fancy, except for formal and semi-formal night.
Don't forget a jacket or sweater for MDR, its chilly in there.
Have fun.

The answer to your question is that there is a Prince and Princess menu but it is not a themed night. Some people do wear tiaras and kids wear princess gowns, though. Your girls would be just as at home in their princess gowns on semi-formal or formal night.

Formal and semi-formal are very similar in attire, especially as less and less people wear tuxes.

For formal night, my husband wore a jacket, tie and dress shirt with trousers. For semi-formal he left off the jacket.

I wore a long dress for formal (but not full like a ballgown) and mid calf length for semi-formal.
