Dinner buffet on Wonder Panama Canal?

I just read from a past cruiser (on another site) that the Disney Wonder has a dinner buffet on the Panama Canal cruise. Is that true?

When I Googled, this article seemed to imply it was true - https://www.cruisecritic.com/reviews/review.cfm?ShipID=149&pgtype=dining.

" Cabanas (Deck 9): The buffet onboard is at the back of the ship, and has plenty of places to sit; seating is also offered outdoors overlooking the wake. If you've sailed a Disney ship before, you'll recognize the buffet, which is now a uniform setup fleetwide. One long counter wraps around the buffet, eventually repeating food stations on the other side. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served here, with premade omelets, fruit, sugary cereal, bacon and Mickey-shaped waffles in the morning; fish with Caribbean salsa, a carving station, macaroni, a salad bar, Indian dishes and more can be found in the afternoon and evening; a dessert counter is only available during dinner hours. One lunch there was a crepe station with plenty of delicious dessert fillings. Another night, an ice cream sundae bar was open from 10:30 to 11:15 p.m."

We did the EBPC on the Wonder. Cabanas is buffet for breakfast and lunch with sit down dinner at various days. Don't believe everything on cruise critic. Always get a second or third opinion.

Actually the person who said it originally was on the FB group Disney Cruise Line Junkies.
Haha - well that explains it then! They are notorious for sharing bad/wrong information there and if you try to correct them, your post is removed and you're booted from the group. Then, they'll go back and correct their original post with the correct information. But they've booted so many knowledgeable people, that there may not be anyone left to share correct information! ;)

A few years back there was a bbq at the back of Cabanas in addition to the regular lunchtime buffet whilst passing through the canal, but that’s not been done on my last two WBPC cruises. I’ve never known a dinner buffet in the evening though on canal day.

When we did the WBPC in 2011 we had a delicious bbq up on deck. That day was so uncomfortably hot and steamy, that may be part of why they discontinued it. We also had a pina colada smoothie in a nice air conditioned lounge to take a break from the heat.

They used to do a lunch BBQ on the glacier cruising day in Alaska as well. They stopped all the bbq's after Wonder's last refurb as the layout of what is now Cabanas changed so they don't have enough outdoor space to grill anymore.

And as far as evening (non-pirate night) buffets--occasionally the ships will have a late night buffet in Cabanas, if the all aboard time is extremely late. In St. Petersburg, Russia, our all aboard was 11:30PM--in Cabanas they had sit down dining earlier in the evening, and then a buffet 10:30-11:30PM, so that people coming on board at the end of the night could get food quickly if they wanted. (They also had 'open' seating in the MDR's vs. 2 seating times, and the MDR's had different operating hours that night.)

Well, personally I've never seen that happen so can't say.

We were on one of the cruises from New York City that stops at Disney World. There was a late buffet on that day as lots of people stayed at the park until really late and came back way after dinner had ended.

Our cruise next January has a stop in Aruba until midnight. I wonder if they'll do the same thing with the MDRs and Cabanas.

There is a buffet at Cabanas on the Magic when she stops in Port Canaveral during the cruises from NYC. The WDW day has so few people on board, they only have one MDR open, but later they open Cabanas as a buffet for everyone coming back from the parks. It was awesome to sit outside at PC at night having dinner.
